  1. I have to agree. I have been walking 1.5 miles a day and the pounds have been dropping off. The key is exercise. As much as I don't want to do it I know that its a MUST if I want to see the pounds come off quicker.
  2. I told the people from work, only 1 person has been against it. Eveyone else has been encouraging and asking questions and learning from my experience and are excited for me that I'm starting a new life. Of course my family and close friends know as well. I didn't feel that I needed to keep it a secret. I was proud to be doing something positive and everyone around me has been positive as well, except for that 1 person at work, but hey she has her opinion and that's ok with me. I think if you are positive and happy about it, you'll find that most people around you are happy for you and are very encouraging. But you should do what is best for you. You know your family and friends best and how they will accept this decision for you.

  14. Congratulations to all of you! You won't regret it, I promise! It's only been 3 weeks for me, but I am really happy I did it. I was a little sore at the beginning, but now all is good. Before you know it, you'll be welcoming all the newbies to the board. Congratulations again! And don't worry, everything will turn out ok. Mary1094 - keep us posted on your progress. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.
  15. It's been 3 weeks since I got banded and my port site is a little sore, but a lot better than say last week. Every day it feels better.
  16. Having Protein shakes really helps with the hunger. It's been 3 weeks for me and I'm feeling really good now. But I remember those first few days hurt a lot, especially around the port incision. Walking really helped. Also, try milk of magnesia to get rid of the gas and try to limit your dairy product for now too. Too much dairy might bloat you up, at least it did for me. Once I stopped eating dairy and did the milk of magnesia for a few days, the gas went away and I was feeling a lot better. And remember to drink plenty of Water too. Before you know it you'll be feeling good too!
  17. Hey JB -congratulations! Keep us posted on your progress.

  19. Hi - I had bad knees too and I didn't have high blood pressure but it does run in my family. What about your cholesterol level? Won't they consider that as a problem? I had that too. I just got banded on 3/12/07. I hope you get approved by your insurance and you can start your new life. Keep us posted on your progress.
  20. Yipee!!! I lost another pound!!! Seems so little, but every little bit helps me get to my goal weight. I had lost 7 lbs before the surgery and now 13 since the surgery. That's a total of 20 lbs!!!! I'm so excited!!

  23. Think of it as a new life.... the new you! You have to look forward to it so you can succeed.
  24. Congratulations!! I had gas pains at the beginning. I was told to try Milk of Magnesia to relieve some of the gas pain. It seemed to work. Also, try walking, that helped me heal quicker too. I was banded on 3/12/07 and had pain where my port was inserted. Other than that I felt fine. The pain has decreased a lot and I'm feeling really good now. Hang in there. You can do it.
