  1. Tara, I'm hoping to SEE 199 as well.... That way I can say: IM ON SALE!!! (I better be able to use that line!!)
  2. This post is inspired by a private conversation I had with someone on this forum. Normally gastric banding is an out-patient procedure unless a hernia is removed during surgery. Weeks before my surgery hubby insisted I stayed over night. I really didn't like the idea, but I didn't disagree with him, thinking/planning to convince him the the day of, that I was fine to go home, and hoping that he would forget by then. However, he did NOT forget and insisted I stayed. When he was telling the nurse, I kinda remembered how nine years earlier, I wished I had stayed one more night in the hospital after giving birth, so I said: OK, I'LL STAY.... And let me tell you guys, it was the BEST decision I made!! When the day of your surgery comes, don't be afraid to ask your nurse/doctor to call your insurance and request that you stay over night. You have to tell them that you don't feel that great and you'd like to stay one night. TRUST ME, you'll be glad you did.
  3. They just sound SO scary!!!!
  4. I can tell you the first days out, you won't care for food at all. As far as chewing goes, I actually LIKE it (before the surgery, I thought it was gonna be hell--- not so much) yesterday I made exactly three weeks and one day after surgery an I was in a pool.... And the only reason I went was because I CALLED my surgeon to find out. My suggestion would be to call and ask their guidelines. Also, I was pain free by the end of my second week.
  5. Does anyone think/know if someone could actually die from a stuck episode?
  6. Anti-climatic? If I was you, I'd go out "shopping" and take a pair of pants & a shirt in the size you started off on and stand in front of that mirror in the fitting room and give yourself a fanfare, because what you've accomplished is FANTASTIC (I know you already know this, I'm just saying). Even if you have some old, big-size clothes, don't use THOSE, go to a store and say to yourself: "this is what I would be buying if I had not reach where I am today".... I bet that would be an reason for celebration!!
  7. I know all too well the feeling of being unworthy of even being in public. Thankfully, at your age I was NOT overweight.... But you're on your way, BABY!!
  8. Call call call, wether its the insurance company OR the doctor's office. AlWAYS be your own advocate! For other people this is simply a pay-check, for you this is your LIFE!!
  9. I found that the first three days and the last three were the hardest... The days in between were a little easy, as I didn't experience much hunger or thought about food that much. Just picture you FATTY liver, and how it can complicate surgery.... For sure that will help you stay the course. CONGRATZ & see ya on the BANDits side!!
  10. I'm wondering if anyone who has had fills already forget to eat often??
  11. CONGATZ! You've lost the total amount of lbs *I wanna lose! I'm so jealous!! (In a good way!!)
  12. I felt my gut tighten while reading your post...! I can't imagine what it must feel like not to be able to swallow your own saliva!! I'm glad you're feeling better.
  13. Chicken sandwiches are more often than not chicken BREAST... That's too dry/tough a meat, and if you chose to eat it, you must be EXTRA careful and chew chew chew. Do what the person above suggested... I hope you feel better soon!!
  14. JustAPrettyFace, I'm sorry you're going through this. It doesn't necessarily mean its too tight, sounds like you're having a stuck epi because you might not have chewed thoroughly. I hope someone who has experienced this can chime in here.
  15. Awwww, sweetie, don't be scared to tell him, I'm sure he has heard & seen it ALL. When you say you've seen people who have missed carried, do you mean banded people?? I don't know too much about getting pregnant so soon, my surgeon required we visited a family planning clinic, and I'm on an IUD; first time ever on birth control. I'm sure there's light at the end of the tunnel for you. Don't be so scared. And MAKE THAT CALL!! (((Kisses & Huggz)))
  16. I used to make something similar when I lost 40# with Atkins. I called it PIM, or, pizza in a mug... Except I used ricotta and not cottage. Mozzarella cheese can be real chewy.... I would wait till the "normal" phase.
  17. Yeah, it's not about being embarrassed of the choice made, it's just that people in general like to judge and many times give unwanted advice/remarks.
  18. She was 245... Not sure what the BMI was. Good luck, Hun!!
  19. Some would say: "follow your doctor's advice", but I would do a full liquid diet (some vegetables ARE allowed during this phase, so it isn't "exclusively" liquid) my sister's surgeon didn't even require a pre op diet... I was like: WHAT?!! I told her to do it anyway, so her liver could shrink.
