Newbie here and sad
Your PCP and your friends and family are ot the ones that have to struggle with the things that you deal with on a daily basis....people have to do what THEY think is best. Do whatever you have to do to make yourself feel better and screw the rest of them!! I was banded on 4/11/07 and I have NO regrets. I self paid because my insurance would not pay. But the cost of having it done is far less than a hospital bill would be after a stroke or heart attack. Good luck with your decision and I know you can do it!!!

Banded 2 days ago..........SO much pain today!
I agree with lapbandit....you are right where you should be pain wise. After my 4 or 5 day post op I stated feeling much better. As of now, I am 3 weeks post op and I feel great. Still stomach rumbles...but hey, that is hunger for you! ha Never regret your decision...you will be so glad you did it in a few days. I too only took my pain meds for about 4 days, after that, it wan not even a concern...you should not need it anymore. If you have pain med, take it. I think the worst for me was the left shoulder pain along with feeling like someone beat me with a baseball bat:omg: Congrats on your decision to change your life and remember....it is worth it. How has exercise affected your results?
hi terri, I was banded on 4/11 and I will start my exercise tomorrow. I will be one of those that HAVE to exercise because I hit a plateau on my regular diet before I got banded. I have lost 3 pounds but I just know from the past that exercise is a must for me to achieve, unfortunately.:omg: I had gotten down to 247 then scheduled my surgery, then for some unknown reason decided to eat like a cow until my surgery date, so here I am now 252 from my 255 surgery weight. Sure wish I had not decided to eat like a crazy woman before my surgery, but hind-sight is 20/20. Good luck with your journey!! TracyTX

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
good morning april sisters!! I was banded on wedensday and I am still a little sore, but I go back to work tomorrow, like it or not:cry It will probably do me alot of good to get out of the house and get me back in my routine again. I am really lucky because the day care that my daughter goes to has a parents work-out facility. So now te only thing i have to do is MAKE myself go early enough to actually USE it. I have lost 3 pounds which is good I suppose. Weighed in at the hospital at 257 and my home scales are 2 lbs lighter so here at home this morning i was at 252. This time last year I weighed 272 and had lost down to 257. Before I got banded I just could not lose anymore so that was one of the deciding factors to have it done. If I knew how to use that little ticker I would post one, but I am not that savvy I suppose. I tried then decided "screw it". SO....how is everyone doing this morning? Hope you all are doing well! Last straw stories
My AHA moment was when i was discussing the lap-band surgery with my mother and i was complaining about insurance not paying and how expensive it would be to have it done. My excuse was that we were saving what we could to buy a house and my mother said, "what good is a new house going to do you if you are not alive to live in it?" The next day I applied for the loan for self pay and I have NO regrets. That bill is alot less than hospital bills would be for a stroke or heart attack due to obesity. I was banded last Wedensday and I have never been happier!!!

:help: Hello everyone! Happy Easter! I was wondering how long it took before you were ready to go back to work after your band surgery. I have read alot about the pain it looks like some of you were in. I have my surgery Wednesday and I am scheduled to go back Monday. Did I take enough time off? My work has NO heavy lifting, thank God. What should I do in preperation? I am SO excited!!

I couldn't for a long time, but am now able to and I am so grateful!! I am 41 (OMG) and i have a 3 year old daughter and 2 wonderful step children, one is 12 (girl) and the other is 7 (boy). Keep in touch and let me know your progress.

joining the lap-band group
Thanks Deb & Julie. I know it is going to be a long road, but SO worth it. I had previously lost 150 pounds 12 years ago on my own. Luckily I have not gained ALL of it back, but it seems that since I had my daughter (she is 3 now) I can not lose like I used to, so before I DID gain it all back, I am having the band done. Any words of encouragement are greatly appreciated!!
