Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
I went to JCPenney today and got the JCPenney version of the Magic Bullet and it is on sale at least through Saturday night (4-7) for $29.99. Just tried it and it works great. It has all the same stuff as the magic bullet, strainer, lids, extra cups, etc... I am thinking about going back and getting one for work! Jane

One day of liquids down and 13 more. It is not too hard, but I agree night time is the hardest. I have to admit I cheated a bit last night and threw some frozen blueberries in my drink and blended. Never thought I would say I cheated on Blueberries!!

I have noticed a number of posts about gum, I always have gum in my mouth, is there something I don't know? As far as exercising goes, 35 minutes is a lot for me. I am very overweight and at the MOST I get 25 minutes but usually it is about 15 or 20 minutes on the treadmill. Maybe the exercise can be edited for those not yet banded or those that are not able to exercise at least 35 minutes? Jane

My positive thoughts and prayers are going out to all April people. Those that are having surgery Monday and beyond, those of us who are starting on the "diet pre-op), with special prayers that those that care about us and love us find a way to be supportive, helpful, and loving. I am starting my diet Monday. They gave me three choices, one being optifast, slimfast, or a 1400 calorie food diet. I think I am going to alternate between the slimfast one day and food the next. Hope it is not hard!!

Well kind of a frustrating week. It all revolves around the money. It really is something else. I feel like I really don't have anyone to talk to about this. Not only am I scared of the surgery, but of the money out lay and it seems this week I have been eating out of control. I say that is okay since I am starting on the strict 2 week diet Monday. But I really feel uncomfortable. This should be a good lesson to learn. I am worried that my doctor is thinking I am a pest and is driving her crazy. I hope she doesn't feel that way. It just adds to my anxiety.... Well tomorrow is another day and then on Monday I start my liquid/1400 calorie a day.

Thanks to everyone who responded. I really appreciate it. I sent my Dr. an email last night, so hopefully that will fix things. I guess I really am just freaking out about the money. I am really not worried about the lap band, as a matter of fact I sort of wish I didn't have to do the hernia, but it has gotten so big...Thanks again!!! Jane surgery 4-17-07

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
I am feeling a little panicky right now myself. I am having all kinds of insurance problems because I am doing the lap band as a self pay, and another surgery that the insurance will pay for. I was under the impression that the cost would be less by having both surgeries done at the same time. Now I find out that it is not true. I could go in today and have the band and next week for the hernia surgery and it would be the same price as doing them both together. I found out that I have to pay $15,200 and am seriously having second thoughts about the lap band. I have been freaking out for a few days now. My date is scheduled for April 17th to have the lap band and the hernia repair. Is anyone else having to self pay for the lap band, and if so is my figure in the right ballpark? Thanks for any help!! Jane

When do they usually do the testing? I am having my surgery in 3 weeks and have no calls. Should I be worried or am I just jumping the gun? What about other people having their surgery on April 17th or around there have you heard? When I saw my Dr. I said is this it til the 17th and she said yes.... Jane being banded 4-17 in St. Louis

I am having surgery on April 17th. Wow, I can't believe I actually figured that one out!!! Anyways having the surgery done the same time I am having a hernia repair. My Dr. either wanted a liquid or 1400 calorie diet two weeks prior to surgery, does anyone have any other info that they were told? Good luck to The April people!!! Jane

Keeping it a secret?
I really struggled with telling people. I am having my surgery mid April 2007, and am having it done in conjunction with another surgery. I could have hid the lap band in the other surgery very easy!! I made the decision to tell people. I feel like secrets have a way of getting out and then people wonder why I didn't say anything, what did I have to hide. There are enough people in my life that if they had to hear it, I would want them to hear it from me, not from gossip. It was definatly easier to tell as time as gone on. There are still some people that I need to tell, but I am very glad that I chose to tell, I was and am very surprised by the support people have given me. Jane

Surg 4-17 at Barnes West (St. Louis)
I am having surgery on the 17th of April in St. Louis at Barnes by Dr. Halpin. I am a little nervous, also having a hernia repair done the same time. Any suggestions or comments will be appreciated. I am female, 43 and have 150 or so pounds to lose. From what little I have read it looks like everyone is successful, but find it very overwhelming not knowing what to read first. Thanks, Jane

this is my first day of coming here to this site. I have looked around a bit at othe peoples posts. It seems really interesting. I also went into the chat room and talked to two people. One who had the surgery 2 weeks ago, and one that had it a year ago. they were both very positive about the surgery. That makes me feel better. I think that it would be nice if I can read some more success stories then I am not going to be so nervous./. Too bad they don't have a site for henia surgery!!
