  1. Okay, I really would like to scream and have a fit, then throw my computer out the window! I cannot delete my lap band ticker!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jane p.s. Laura, I can relate to your door, I got a new bathroom sink a few years ago and was TOTALLY obsessed over it. Everyone had to see my sink even before it was installed!!!
  2. Okay for the past week or so I have been trying to delete my "days since lap band" bar/graph. I can't do it!!! I am sure it is sooo easy, but I can't find the solution!!! Help anyone!!!! thanks Jane
  3. Can't say I am in counseling just for the addictive overeating, but I am in counseling and that is a big part that we deal with. I really have made a lot of strides since I have been seeing counselor, but even with her I don't lie, I just don't tell all that is there. I was really surprised when I took my picture before surgery that I was overweight. I was probably 200 pounds overweight when I started this journey in August of last year, lap band was not an alternative for me since my insurance wouldn't cover it. I was just going to have hernia repaired. The Dr. wanted me to lose 50 pounds, so slowly but surely I did, then I started thinking that it is about the cost of a new car, and I have a 2000, and God forbid something happen I plan to keep it for a long time, so I got a home equity loan and the rest is band history. But, if I think for one minute that is the easy answer I am fooling myself. I do think sometimes its going to be easy. Boy am I in trouble! that is why I am going to keep working with my counselor who believes in the small steps. Sorry this is long. But I gradually added more fruits and veges to my diet she was thrilled. I think she would be thrilled with one extra piece of broccoli. Same with the whole grains. When I first started on my treadmill, she said two minutes every few days, before surgery I was doing about 20 minutes most everyday. So slowly but surely hopefully this will be my life and I will be thinner and healthier. Sorry again for the length. Jane ps. Thanks Kat about the cake I was feeling kind of guilty!
  4. I really felt the words that lunasa wrote about secretly eating. I have done the same, or acted like I was ordering for more than just me. I hope I never go back to those times. People especially at my work think I don't eat much. But, I live by myself, and eating there I have no accountability what so ever. It really is sad what I have done. Now with this band I feel lke I have the opportunity to change a lot of the bad habits I have made. Although today, I went out for lunch for my moms birthday, and ate a couple bites of soup, some of my quiche, got that packed up to go, then ordered a piece of red velvet cake, it came in a foil pan that is about 4 inches in diameter and about 1 1/2 inches high. I told myself I would only eat maybe half and then tell the waitress to take it away, I didn't want to tempt myself with it to even take home, well I ended up eating the whole thing. You are not supposed to do that after you have been banded. Where was my control? I have yet to get a fill, and have not had any restrictions put on my eating. Okay enough of my complaining. Hope everyones May is a great one!!! Jane
  5. I think that exercise challenge sounds like a good one! I would like to sign up! Now here comes the million questions!! Sorry to be a bother!!! 1. Is there a special thread for the May Exercise challenge? 2. Tracy thank you so much for sendin those pictures to me, but how do I access that thread, I tried a search and came up with odd things 3. I tried to delete my old 'graph' showing a countdown to the surgery and I can't figure out how to delete it!!! I am sure more questions will follow, just not real smart when it comes to editing this!!! Anyways, I also have come to band hell I guess. I am always hungry. I really didn't have any restriction at all. Came home on soft foods (did stay a few extra days in hosp. for hernia), and have had NO problems eating anything, well I did have an incident with a pea, but that is it. My weight loss does look great, but have been at it since August 2006. I think since Mid March I have lost 25 or so pounds. Now that the worst is over, I would like to thank everyone who has been so so so supportive. I was sooo petrified going into this. Kat with all her wisdom she leant to us was great, open, and inspirational. Tracy, you have been a great supporter of this board and will always appreciate your kind words and encouragment!! I know all this sounds schmaltzy, but it is true!!! Thank you to EVERYONE HERE for making this a place where we feel free to discuss our deepest and our shallowest fears!! Thanks again, Jane
  6. Congrats Tracy!!! So now that April is almost over we have had no problems as a group? I did read that someone had a slight port infection, that is amazing. Did everyone have their band placed empty? If so when if your first fill? Mine is the 15th of May which so happens to be my first day back at work!! Jane
  7. :clap2: Last time I brought a skirt it was a size 20 and this is a 16!!! Yeah me. I haven't lost any weight since last week but boy am I losing inches. Last week I measured I was down 8 1/2 inches. I SIMPLY LOVE MY BAND AND ME!!! Yeah for sure!! You are doing great!! Jane
  8. I really don't have a lot of pain from the lap band. It seems if that is all I had done I would have been fine in a day or two. I was also lucky enough to avoid alot of the gas, and I wasn't able to get up after surgery. One thing I have learned from this post is how different everything about being banded is depending on your Dr. I made an appointment today for a fill, will that hurt or take a long time? Tracy, you know you have been quite a source of inspiration and information, I wish you the best of everything!!! Jane
  9. Hi, finally feeling well enough to post, but I don't think the pain is coming from the band. I do have some discomfort on my left side where the port is, not bad though. I am having to wear a I can't think of the name right now, but a very constrictive white thing on my abdomen. The hernia that they fixed had many feet of my intestines out and to the side, so when she put it back in and did the repairs a large hole was left, so to try to keep fluid from building up she put this binder on. It takes two people to get it on and I am not one of them. I have to find a better way so I can go back home!! I am so blessed that I have two wonderful and capable parents to take care of me. I feel bad that they are in their 70's, and this probably was not on the 'parent' list of responsibilities, but feel very blessed. Still have not had a bowel movement since Monday, taking miralax 2x's a day for that problem..... As far as food goes there is very little I can't eat. Never felt any kind of restriction at all. I had pasta last night and even though I had read horror stories I was okay with it. I can't eat fresh vegetables or fruit, but basically I am very very very suprised at how unrestricted I am. I am able to take pills and everything. I am sure that after my first fill or so I will be singing a different story, they did say they put in the biggest band, so maybe since they did the hernia repair they don't want to limit me so much?? Oh well I have talked way tooo much! Tracy you have been a great supporter in starting this thread, I hope you feel all the love and support you have given others come back at you!!! Jane
  10. I have now made it to my moms. I had surgery Tuesday morning, and found out a great way for the lap band not to hurt! Have it with a huge hernia repair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!To Say OH MY GOSH is an understatement. I have have two surgeries for brain tumors and two for ovariian cancer, so I didn't think I was a baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wrong!!! Will post more in the next day or two. Jane
  11. It is 12:30 and I am going to bed, I getting up at 4:00 to go to hospital. I am nervous, can't believe it is finally here. I have my surgery at 7:15 and have to be at hospital at 5:15. I probably won't be posting for a couple of days, since I am having my hernia done with this the Dr. told me 2 to 5 days in hospital. You guys have been great with all your support. I have gotten so many good ideas from reading this board!! Thanks again!!! Jane
  12. Lots of prayers and encouraging thoughts to everyone being banded today!!! I got weighed this morning and I have now officially lost over 50 pounds!!! Started in August at 349 and today 298!!! Can't wait for tommorrow to be over!! Jane
  13. Okay, I printed out my taxes, getting frustrated because I can't find the estimated part (I am self employed), but it did manage to keep my mind occupied. I think that is the key for me today. I think tommorrow I will be very busy and won't have time to think. Plus on Tuesday my surgery is scheduled for 7:00 so no worrying through the day about it since it is first thing. Sorry for the freak out earlier! Hopefully that is my last! Jane
  14. I can't believe I am saying this but Tuesday morning I will have the surgery!!! I am kind of nervous!! Will do taxes today and some work stuff, clean house etc... Last night I couldn't sleep wrote some thank you notes, took my mind off of things for a while. I feel like I am going into this with only a 1% chance of survival. I don't know why I am so negative, it is not the first surgery I have had, and certainly not the most serious. I don't think I am worried about the lap band, or the hernia which they are doing at the same time, but just the fact of going out again. I feel like I have been given many chances to get my life right, and I have screwed them up and haven't made the most of what I have been given...Crazy huh, I feel like I can open up here because you know what is coming. I actually feel a little better getting this off my chest, maybe I will finish up my taxes and do my city tax license for work... Sorry if I am negative.... Jane
  15. Well I am sitting here at the computer kind of nervous, don't know why. I do have a lot to do in a short time, but that will be good in a way because it will keep my mind occupied. But I am still worried. Need to write thank you notes, should be doing that, really should be sleeping, need to do that!! Maybe I will write three thank you notes and then go to bed.

  17. PBing sounds not nice. YUCK!! Thanks for letting me know! I wish the hernia was just a stitch! It is bowling ball size on the outside, the Dr. really doesn't know what it will look like when she gets in. This is from some major complications I had from surgery in 2003. So I guess it is the fear of the unknown that looms for me!!! Thanks again!! Jane
  18. Now this is a stupid question, but a lot of posts I have read over the past month tak about p/b, never have figured out what it meant, thought I would find out by just reading... Getting nervous!! Instead of saying a week or three weeks or whatever when people ask, I say Tuesday!!!! SCARY!!! Had a bad dream the other night that the girls in the or were eating lunch and snorting cocaine!! How odd, just my nerves, and can sort of laugh that it was SO stupid, but still I am scared. Thanks to all your posts I am not worried about the lap band, I am worried about the hernia repair. I am sure if there was a hernia board my mind would be put at ease! I am rambling, sorry!!! Thanks in advance for the definition of p/b!!! Jane
  19. That is a great idea about the charms! But gosh if I got a charm for every 7 pounds I lost I would need more surgery to add an extra arm or two! This has got me thinking that I need to plan something special for my weight loss, can't wait to hear what everyone else is doing!!! Jane
  20. I am wondering about my sleep apnea, the Dr. said to bring my c-pap with me, it is soo big and ugly on, that I hate anyone to see me with it on. I don't care if they are in the medical proffession. I guess what my main question is, is do they make you wear it when you are in lala land, or just when you sleep at night. I live by myself, and NO ONE ever sees me with that on!!! I guess I am more worried about that than anything... Jane

  22. I am with Jennifer, I am the day after her, I am getting nervous!!!!! Fortunately for me I will be SUPER busy at work (I am a hairdresser), so that will keep my mind off the upcoming surgery. I am having this done in conjunction with a large hernia that I have, so I actually am more nervous about that then I am about the lap band. I did lose an amazing amount of weight last week, so that is good, but now am worried because my period is going to start on Saturday, and always gain from that. I think I have 4 more pounds to lose before surgery (doctor wanted me to lose 50). Tracy where are you!!!!! Thinking of you and hoping everything is fine!!!!!! Jane
  23. Tracy, I am sending you positive thoughts and prayers that you get through this day!!! You really are a great inspiration for everyone on the list! You also have lots of good info!! Hate to see people down!!!! Hang in There!!
  24. I can relate to feeling hunger, my lap band is the 17th of the month, and I have been on it for 6 days. Terrible feelings of hunger. I think I am going to eat tommorrow, and then liquid til the surgery!! I read some people talking about drinking through straws, is that because you like it or is it medically advised? Thanks Jane
  25. the magic bullet thing is available at a sale price at JCPenney.com!! Jane
