  1. Wow Wonderwoman, you are doing awesome with your band. Congrats!!! :clap2: and thanks for the welcome. I am sure I will be making many friends on this board.
  2. Thanks MEW for the info. She does not currently have a company insurance booklet, and for some odd reason, they do not offer one either. But, I will tell her to call customer service on her card and ask, or I will call them for her.
  3. Although I have not had the surgery yet, it is a major decision. I think in the long run, you will be happy by making the choice to do it, unless you find other means of weight loss, which a lot of people lose weight on their own, but a lot of those same people gain it back too. My neice lost 95 lbs. on Atkins, and has put most of it back on. She was so tiny when she lost it all, and now, she is upset with herself for gaining it back, but I have to keep reminding her that she just had a baby, you will gain some weight. Well, anyway, good luck with your decision, I am sure you will make the right one with lots of education on this board. Take it easy!
  4. Hi ReneBean, Liz, and Dolphin, nice to meet you all and thanks for the warm welcome.
  5. I am pretty sure that the protein drinks are not going to hurt. I am not 100% certain at which stage they are allowed, but I would probably say that if anything, they are not going to harm you. I think you just have to make sure they are not full of sugar, but they are more full of protein (hence protein drink). Some are better than others, you have to read the lable. Hope this helps.
  6. :help: Hello...I have a question about Nationwide Insurance. My friend is wanting to have the procedure done and does not know if her insurance---Nationwide covers? Does anyone know anything about this plan? If you do, it would be of great help so I can let her know. Thanks.
  7. Thanks Kat for the reply. That is good to know and I will tell him. He will be happy (Grin). Dustmouse, I wish you good luck on your insurance approval. I really hope you get it. Let us know.
  8. Thanks again everyone. I am sure I will not regrert it or t least I hope not..lol. I am sure all will go well. Oh, and Josie, good luck tomorrow on your surgery. Be sure to let us know ( I am sure you will) about how it went and the whole recovery thing. Thats what has me a little nervous. How well will I be able to get moving around afterwords. And for a kinda stupid question, but persoanl at the same time, how long do you have to wait until you have sex? My hubby was wanting to know. Well, if anyone knows, please let me know. Thanks. Take care everyone, you all are doing great!
  9. Thanks everyone for the replies. You all are so awesome. Yes, I will keep everyone informed of that date. I still have another month before the consult, but for personal reasons, I have to wait, but still very excited.
  10. Hello RDBiles- Good for you taking that step. Glad to hear everything is moving in your favor. Let me know how your fill goes. I am interested in how people handle the first month of surgery. Before long, you will be at goal. I cannot wait to get everything moving myself. I am really looking forward to onederland.
  11. Yes, I feel the same way as well. Although, still a month and a half from surgery, the only people who know that I have made this decision to be banded is my DH, my mom, my sister, and my mom's friend ( who is also being banded). I really do not want any of my DH's family knowing about it simply because they think that weight loss should be on your own, not with the help of advanced technology. But yet, most of the family is still obese on my side and my DH's side. My aunt had the gastric bypass, and now, to even talk about it with the family, they are like....Oh, are you sure you want to go through what your aunt has gone through<------she has had a hard time with it all and said she would not do it again. Well, I have told them, this is not the same, and if something goes wrong (praying that it wont) mine can be removed. My mom was like...wow, thats better then. The only reason my mom's friend knows is because she told my mom that she was having it done, and my mom (bless her heart, but she likes to talk) told her I was too having it done. Well, anyway, it is a personal choice, especially when you have tried many other things or everything in the book. It is not easy making this decision, but as long as you have a few people who you can lean on before, during, and after, that is all that matters. Like people from this board, if you are not going to tell anyone else, this board is here to help you through it.
  12. Hello everyone! I have been checking this site out for a while. It's great! Everyone seems so friendly. And wow, you all are doing so well. Anyway, my story is the same as any other. Been overweight since I was 9 and well, I have tried many different diets from a-z. I am just not comfortable with this body anymore and I am tired of not being about to buy really cheap cute clothes. Have you ever noticed, I am sure you have, that when you have to buy plus size clothing, they tack on an extra $2-5. Thats insane. Well, here is the kicker in all of this...I actually started this process about 2-3 years ago, my brain is kinda foggy, don't remember for sure. I was going to gave the Gastric Bypass done, but the night before surgery, I chickened out. Something just didn't seem right. Maybe it was God telling me something, but never the less, I listened. So presently, I am starting this process over. I have not seen the doc I have chosen yet, but he was my chosen doc when I was going to have the bypass... He is doc Jorge Rincon from San Antonio, Texas. I like him, he tells it like it is. I will probably be seeing him in May and since I am self-pay, I should be able to have the surgery in May as well. In a nut shell, thats it. I am currently about 240 lbs. give or take a few and, 5'6" tall. I would like to set my goal weight at 140. I am excited to get started and can't wait.
