Hopeful.In.NY❤ got a reaction from parisshel in Banded...but starting again
I was in a similar situation. Was banded in June 2013. Started at 289 and got down to probably 240. Had to have a revision surgery due to a leak in my port.went back to my old ways of eating. I weighed a few weeks ago at 266. I totally recharged. Went back and started following all my rules. Exercising every day. Logging all my food getting in my Protein .I feel so much better and I already lost over10 pounds in two weeks. So my advice is to just go back to the beginning following all of your rules and do this before more time passes if I can do it anyone can.

I live in NY about an hour south of syracuse . Glad you had a good day food wise . I didn't eat too much caue was gone all day and car a lot. Of course I came home and had a few Hershey's minaturea but still stayed within my calories so that was good . I walked in the snow before I left for funeral . I use a fit bit and usually get my 10000 steps in . I do go to the gym 5 times a week but then tend to use that as excuse to have treats .
Hope everyone has a good day.
I am going to see my daughter at college for the weekend . So that should be good .

I totally can relate. What they neglect to inform us before the surgery is that until you have a fill this really is a diet. I am following all the rules but being hungry is no fun .. I just focus on the weight loss and it helps . But I too get confused with the drinking .. Cause it's hot and I'm very active so if I drink alot it impacts when I can eat.. So in turn I'm not eating enough . I am only 2 and 1/2 weeks out .. First fill isn't till July 23 and nothing in my band at surgery. Hang in there!

Saturday I walked down the aisle at my son's wedding in a dress that made me feel FABULOUS--one I never dreamed I'd be able to wear. I never even made it to the buffet--couldn't tell you what was on it because I was too busy dancing.....for four and a half hours to be exact. Six years ago I would have made a beeline to the food and pretty much camped out near that table. The caterer allowed me to take my meal from the rehearsal dinner home with me in spite of it being a buffet, since I knew the stress of hostessing the party would probably keep me from being able to get much through the band. I assured her that I would fill my plate only once with a reasonable amount of food.....I got THREE meals off of it! Six years ago I would have eaten every bite and gone back for more. I am constantly amazed at how much food I was able to consume in one meal before the band compared to the actually nutritional needs of my body.
Yesterday I celebrated my 55th birthday and because of the gift that Dr. Michael King gave to me in the Lap Band, I felt like it could have been my 21rst! I was banded in April of 2007. I remember feeling so fearful that, like so many things I had already tried, it was not going to work, I was simply destined to be obese for the rest of what would be a very shortened life due to the extra weight and the effect it was having on my body. My weight loss has been VERY slow and steady, but because of that, I have not had the issues of sagging skin and sunken eyes and it has truly become a change in my attitude towards food instead of simply a "diet" to lose the weight. I have gone from almost a size 26 to an 18. It is a really awesome problem to have to buy new clothes because you can't find yourself in the old ones anymore! This last shopping trip actually found me in the "regular" sized clothes for the first time in...well, since I can remember.
I have exercised since before the lapband and because of the weight loss I am now able to walk 4 miles 2-3 times a week. I do a circuit workout with weights at a local wellness center 1-2 times a week. Before the weight loss, I struggled to walk a mile. Now, I look forward to the walking and the workouts because they make me feel so good. When I began walking 4 miles instead of doing the stairmaster for an hour, the inches began to fall off. Not sure what the difference is, but for me the walking has been much more effective. I had to ask myself....how badly do you REALLY want this? Bad enough to make the exercise a new habit? Bad enough to get off the couch; put down the potato chips and Cookies and get moving, even if it means waking up a bit earlier or getting out and walking after a long day? My answer, a resounding "YES".
I have found that keeping my hands busy is one of the ways I have learned to overcome the temptation to graze in the kitchen. Reading a book, which is an activity I enjoy, is not effective since I can still hold the book and manage to hold whatever food is the binge-of-the-day. I do needlework, sew, knit, crochet, work a jigsaw puzzle, do a scrapbook page or a number of other activities when I am tempted to mindlessly eat. Some days I have to just put on my tennis shoes and take a walk to put as much distance between me and the kitchen as possible.
I hope this encourages you. The lapband has not been a magic fix, rather a tool that has helped me in re-learning how to nourish my body the way it was meant to be. I still have days when I find myself falling into the behavior that caused me to become obese in the first place. It is very easy to sabotage my own efforts and "outeat" the band, but now that I have come this far and have experienced the "high" of feeling normal again, I am able to use that as my motivation to stop the mindless eating. I pray that you will find that "high" as well.

Yes .. Me too..so sick of liquids . I was happy to go on full liquids from clear but now a week later ...ugh . Just want to chew something . One more week of full and then 3 days puréed .. I will do it .. But this is a diet.. Soo hungry .
Went to the doctors for my follow up .. And will have a fill in 5 weeks so I guess I better get used to being hungry .. Only good thing is seeing the scale go down every day. Down about 15 since starting the preop about 30 total from consult .
I went off all pain meds when I left the hospital since I thought that what was causing the n/v for me. It worked. Continued good luck to everyone .

Long post….but hell, it’s taken me almost four years!
    ONEDERLAND, finally!
Although it seems to have taken me forever, I’ve arrived. I was banded way back in Sept 09. I struggled to find that green zone, that spot where I wasn’t hungry all the time. I stayed on the diet, eating exactly what I was told to, per all the paperwork given to me by my surgical team. (They are awesome, by the way! )
Then after about a year, my determination dwindled, just as it always did in the past. (hey, I did DIET for a year…not bad for me) I wasn’t feeling any help from the band…..and I knew it, but couldn’t/didn’t do a good enough job of convincing my surgeon of this. We/he thought it was just “I was losing faster than they were adjusting”, “may take me more saline than normal”, etc, etc…all those reasons you hear so often on here. That was back when my fills were done blindly. Then along comes FLUOROSCOPY! First time using it, the problem was easily detected and the corrected asap.
For me, and others I hear on here talk about this often… we get discouraged/lose that motivation when it’s not working as fast as we want. Thinking this wasn’t going to work me, I’m a failure, I can’t do this, etc, etc. That was so me! I thought never gonna get to goal…enjoy the 40-50% EWL and move on…I quit going to my doctor for about a year….embarrassed I had actually gained about 20#’s from my lowest. BECAUSE I was eating too much! Not in the green zone….just another diet.
Then I had a friend persuade me to get my butt back to the doctor….she had the band too. And she had already been through where I was at, and had succeeded.
So I did go back, doctor was VERY encouraging, he said we just need to adjust your band. Still skeptical, but I somehow got my mind back into the mode of maybe this thing really will work….maybe. A couple weeks after that fill….I knew exactly what the green zone was/is for me. And its been great ever since.
With my band in a great spot now, I enjoy riding my bike, AKA Stephanie (Steph for short) as my form of “exercise”.
She is always ready and willing. Never complains she doesn’t want to. I’ve ridden in the rain (soaking wet!), cold (even snowing), heat (sweating like crazy), etc. Because I enjoy it! She is always ready for MORE! Addictive I say. Once you find something you like….you’ll know what I’m referring to.
So if you’re struggling, losing that motivation/determination…..I hope this encourages you to know that others have struggled too. But you can do it! Just never, ever give up! I wish you the best….now its off to ride. Life is good GREAT!

Finally feeling better. Banded last Wednesday june 12th... And I am so jealous of all the easy stories . I am very active but it was tough.. Pain and nausea and vomiting kept me in the hospital for 2+ days so wasn't too happy with that . First day and half only ice chips was awful .but have been on full liquids last two days . Much better .. Hungry though. Can't wait till soft foods.
But today is day 5 and other than sore muscle pain I feel good. Going to attempt work tomorrow .. Since there is only so much Netflix a person can watch
Happy all are doing well .

Keep your wits. You are about to start a new journey!!
Work will be there when you get back, the next few days are solely about you. Don't be scared! I had mine last Wednesday and feel great. It's gonna be the best decision not "of your life" but "for your health".
And work on finding stress reducers, once food is gone, it's something healthy or not, like meth. Lol. Jk.
    Blessed recovery and Go You!!
