My surgery kicked my heart into A - fib. They are controlling it with meds. Met with cardiologist few days ago. If a had a nickel for every time he said I was young and healthy I'd have a dollar. During my Pre op testing I was found to have sleep apnea, and a hyper-para-thyroid condition. The apnea is under control with a C- pap machine. And the para thyroid is being operated on 2 weeks from today. By losing 56 pounds......., I feel 20 years younger. The doc says getting the para thyroid out will make me feel 10 years younger. 5. Ladies. 60 year old married man here. Some observations: The majority of women in America are overweight. American men date and marry. You are ahead of the curve, you are losing weight in a very tanagable way. Ok I know it is fiction, but, I am reminded of an episode of Always Sunny in Philadelphia.. Mac is dating a Pre- op trans- sexual. His friends say " dude she has a penis" Mac says " yes, but she is getting rid of it eventually" You are getting rid of the lbs. We men are not that sensitive. Remember the scene in Eat, Pray , love. Where she tells the Sweedish girl that just gained15pounds. " if you are in bed With a guy he is thinking 1 thing. " OMG! I won the lottery" I have seen 3 friends ( that I thought would never date-- all in their 60's-- 70s) just meet someone. 2 online, 1 at a neighborhood party. They are soooooo Happy, and I an soooooo happy for them. You are young and taking control of your lives. You are in the best possible place! Go for it.

MY instructions ( I know every doctor is different) are liquids for 4 weeks, Mush for 4 weeks and no red meats or fatty fish for 4 more weeks. Basically January first. It just makes sense to me to follow the rules. I DO try to put my self in challenging situations.... And to conquer them. Went to. Bar today to see my nephew the DJ. Had a Virgin Mary. ..... Mindlessly started to eat the garnish. Caught my self and spit it out.. I lost 40 pounds Pre-op. people said to me....if you can do that you do not need surgery. My response was. I do. Before surgery I Could go pig out. After surgery....... There is a painful price to pay for a pig out. I hope this helps. Stay strong.. You CAN DO IT.

  18. I had my sleeve done ne in the Boston area. At a center of excellence. My insurance company insisted on it. The surgeon's fee was $5000. Anistezioligist wasanother$5000. The entire experience was $23000. ( list). Including POST OP COMPLICATIONS, which added 4 days of hospital to my initial stay. I am sure my insurance co will pay way less than $23k. My wife gets MRI's, list price $6000. The "rate netgioated " by insurance is $2400. If I had to be self pay I would have asked for the insurance rate. Out of. Country scares me. I was considering Belgium. After the cardiac complications...... I am glad I was here in the US.
