Well the good news is....they can't repo your band lol, On a serious note, I fee like there's more to this story, why did they decide to reverse it? They must have given you a reason...were you entitled to coverage under that plan? I'm not sure what tricare is but I know someone who was getting medicaid but they started making too much money to qualify for medicaid so they had to pay for all those things they did cover when she wasn't entitled to it. Idk but whatever the situation is, it sucks that you had to file bko. My cousin pays $80/ fill, maybe you can pay out of pocket? I wouldn't use that insurance for anything lapband related since there's an issue...just my opinion!

I am not telling my mother about my surgery b/c 1) she has a big a** mouth and will tell everyone and not in a nice way either. She'll be like "she didn't lose the weight by herself, anybody could lose weight with a lapband" and "I would never have a surgery to lose weight, I told her she just has to eat less" and allll types of bullsh*t so to avoid that whole shabang I'm not telling her lol.
    2) it's none of her business..she's not a doctor nor is she the insurance co. Her knowing, doesnt benefit me so...
I think everyone's mom is a pain in the cheeks tho so...ehh whatever. Just ignore her and leave her home. I don't think she's coming with you to your appointments for your best interest but because she wants to know that you're going to fail because she failed her life and misery loves company.

This is a great post... but I want to tell everyone just starting: don't wait to dress nice! It's possible even at a plus size! I know it's hard to find stuff, but it's gotten much better over the years...even Tommy Hilfinger has a plus sized line! Feel good about yourself now and the journey will be even better! It's hard to break the habits of hiding behind black, baggy and stretchy... plus they don't work anyhow! Just because you're big doesn't mean you can be bright and fun!!!
On that note, as I've gone from a 24 Tao 12-14 I just recycle sizes, taking the too big stuff to the thrift store and leaving with a new batch of smaller things! But one of the best things is shoes .... getting in shape has made.it easier to wear higher heels, and I'm more coordinated in them! A whole new world opens up when you can wear 3" heels!!!

@mzmel - I am paying for mine out of pocket too. I am borrowing from a 401K. I figure if I don't lose this weight I wont make it to retirement anyway.

PrettyGirlJey got a reaction from ☠carolinagirl☠ in Sooo I'm finally seeking help with my weight issues
I finally got myself out of the "I can do this naturally" bubble and decided to tell my PCP that I need help losing weight. He was Sooo helpful and I wasn't embarrassed at all. It took me about 3 months to build up strength to go to him about this. In my head, I thought he might think that I was lazy and seeking the easy way out even though I knew that I have tried every single thing and nothing really worked! I've been obese for 29 years and I'm only 29 years old! Anyway, I have HIP Medicaid and they would cover all weight loss surgeries pending its medically necessary. I was told by the customer service rep from the insurance company that requirements are a BMI of about 40, 6 months supervised diet with a licensed dietician or 3 months under a bariatric surgeon's supervision and something like high blood pressure or diabetes or sleep apnea etc. I really really want to shed this weight. I'm 5'8 and 340 pounds, I would like to get down to about 240. I'm waiting for a referral to a bariatric surgeon to take the next step. Will keep every1 updated and I really really appreciate everyone sharing their journey, it gives me hope and you guys are very educating so thank you. Keep sharing and keep moving in the right direction.

I watched a movie a few years ago and will never forget the following scene: Picture a man on a bike carrying load in a basket in the front of the bike. His son about 10 years old is walking along side him as they travel home. Someone they encountered on the journey yelled at the dad that he was a bad dad because he was making his son walk. The father got off the bike and his son started riding. Another person they passed yelled to them that the son was disrespectful because he was making his dad walk and since he was younger and had more energy he should let his dad ride the bike. This time they both got on the bike and another person yelled that they were wicked for putting so much weight on the bike. They both got off the bike and just pushed it home but yet another person had something to say. He yelled that they were both silly for walking when one of them could get on the bike....as you can see, EVERYONE WILL HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY. Do what works for you and tune out all the people you pass on the way to your satisfaction.

I'm really hoping I can just skip the pre-diet because when you think about it, my whole life has been a diet! I definitely need a nutritionist or some sort of guidance with selecting healthy foods etc. I love to work out so I know I'll be able to do that. Working out right now seems almost impossible because I feel beyond odd walking in to a gym ANDDDD I get so tired so quickly and carrying around all this weight is a heck of a task! I'm in NY, I certainly have to find some friends in my area to hit the gym with. I haven't told anyone in my close circle about my plans yet because I know everyone is going to say something and I really don't want to hear it.

I don't have high blood pressure nor am I diabetic but I might have sleep apnea. I snore like a family of bears so I'm 75% sure that I do but my PCP is going to get a little machine thing to determine if I do for sure. He said most obese people suffer from sleep apnea. And thank you cheznoel, I'm pretty happy that I took the first step!
