ALCOHOL?
Polish/German background here. Food is love is how I grew up. The band has really helped me to identify where my hunger is coming from. Before all of the head hungers would gang up with my stomach hunger and overwhelm me. Now that the stomach hunger is diminished, the head hungers are much more visible for what they are.

Hiatal Hernia
My surgeon threw it it in with the cost of my surgery. I haven't taken reflux medicine since. Love it.

I Love Exercise!
Oh and LuuLuu, please don't look at this as a slam against your post. I understand totally where you are coming from. I have a treadmill, a stationary bike and a complete weight machine set up in my basement and I HATE using them. I trick myself to use the treadmill by putting my laptop on the arms and playing Civilization 5 for an hour as I walk. But hiking and biking really rock my world...

Weight stays off long after lap band surgery (study)
My surgeon set my goal at the average excess weight loss, and then said this is pretty much guaranteed if you follow the program, once you get here, we decided what your next goal will be. He also uses his nurse as an example of what the band is cable of since she lost all of her excess weight and is cute blond hottie.

How much exercise is everyone getting?
My LB nurse share with the group tonight that was she did her laundry, and folded a shirt she would immediately put it away, then fold another shirt and put it away. Anything to keep her self moving. Try a pedometer, set yourself goals.

Going for my first fill
Actually I will probably only see the Dr. if I have a problem, other than that his lap band nurse does my fills (no floro) and directs my program. Their goal is to get me to restriction as quickly as possible, I was really pleased to find out the schedule.

Port incision
4 weeks and it still hurts when I exercise.

ALCOHOL?
Margarita, bourbon or wine several times a week. Log the calories and never more than one.

Going for my first fill
1 cc in 10 cc band, and I can definitely feel it. Liquids tonight, mushies tomorrow, and then back to solid food. Found out tonight that fills are on a two week schedule, so back on the 19th for the next.

I Love Exercise!
Just finished my 2nd spin class and I had forgotten how much fun exercise is. I was out of breath, dripping sweat (I love to sweat) with legs of jello, but I burned 400 calories in 40 minutes and I had an endorphin high that makes the finest pot look like so much crab grass. I feel really good. I can hardly wait until I can get the road bike and the hiking boots out. I may just have to take the family out snow shoeing this week end.

Hair Loss
Now if it would only affect back hair, I would be in heaven.

sick and stressed and not eating right
I hate it when life gets in the way, and gangs up on you. It seems that everything I get near a major health goal i happens as well. Focus on the limits of what you can control and try to release the rest (at least for now). Just remember, somebody else has already gone through what you are, and has survived. So will you.

Caloric Intake and Working Out
A good HRM is worth it's weight in gold when it comes to tracking your exercise, not only does a GOOD one give you a much better estimate of actual calories burned, it allows you to see how hard you are actually working. I use it in hiking and biking to compare performance over the same course, as I become more fit then my body doesn't work as hard to accomplish the same work. My wife kids me that if I don't have my Garmin Forerunner on then as far as I am concerned I didn't really exercise. Look at the Polar and Garmin models.

gas meds
Remember, there is a gas and there there is a gas. Yes, the CO2 causes the initial pain, but for what ever reason the surgery turns you into one mean flatulist.

My Body Once Again Reminds Me Who Is In Charge....
Thanks MsMaul, I started the downward trend again this morning. Yup, this is a normal part of the journey, but even for those of us who know this, for those of us who have been dieting all of our lives, there is a hint of fear every time that scale stops moving even for a couple of days.
-
This is how normal people do it...
Frustrate me? Nope, I am happy that she doesn't share the same addiction to food that I do, plus she has never seen me as fat or judged me because of my weight. As for eating normally, at this point in my journey, I am not sure what that even means.

people judgmental on what i eat
Nope. 2 reasons, 1. My friends have manners. 2. Those people who know me, but can't be counted as friends have manners as well. For anyone else, that is a mistake that they would only make once. A simple "Thank you for your concern, but I feel I have a good hand on what I am supposed to eat" would be sufficient. Although I like Missy's answer as well.
