  1. I was shaving this morning and my wife came in and weighed herself, curious I asked how much? Her answer was 122.5 (she is 5' 5"), and that around Thanksgiving she noticed that her back was hurting so she dropped 5 pounds and had been holding steady ever since. You know how my wife dropped 5 pounds and then holds her weight steady? She simply eats less. Not a diet, not skipping meals, not exercising, she eats less of the things that she eats every day. If she wants a beer or a cocktail, she will skip dessert. This is how normal people interact with food. I am not normal, I am a mutant when it comes to food. The band is my tool to help me pass for normal person
  2. Congratulations on your loss, but I have to wonder why you haven't talked to your Dr.s. Personally, they would have been my first call.
  3. Moved to solid foods on Friday, not only have Mistress Band and I not been on the best of terms since then, my weight loss stopped. This is why when we talk about calories in versus calories out, we always need to look at the big picture rather than the daily total. Once my body gets used to what I am feeding it, the loss will start up again. Until then I just need to concentrate on making sure that I am eating what and how much I am supposed to, getting my water and exercise in. On the plus side, I had my first spin class yesterday and survived.
  4. I have had two knee replacements because of my weight, while I am not experiencing problems now, chances are my hips would be next. Either of those surgeries carry infinitely more risk than my band (if I am follow the rules). That doesn't even address the other factors like Heart Disease, Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, etc. that my weight was putting me at risk for. Loosing weight was not simply something that would be nice to do, it allows me to live longer with a higher quality of life, for me it was a simple risk versus benefit analysis. An extremely easy decision.
  5. These were staples for me over my years of dieting, so much so that the thought of eating another one makes me physically ill. So, if I don't have left overs to take with me (and I always do), I will do a Taco bell refried beans or something similar.
  6. Everyone is different, I shoot for 1300 calories a day and I have a BMR of 2600, which according to what B-52 said (and I generally agree) gives me a 2.6 pound loss (I am actually experiencing almost 4 pounds a week). I also exercise, some days I eat the calories, some days I don't, I don't have a rule, I just try and listen to my body hunger and give it what it needs.
  7. Yes. My NUT doesn't want me to focus on it, but I still log everything i eat.
  8. It is beautiful! Ok CG, I am telling my wife this is your fault, I just emailed my artist what I wanted on my calf. I waited 57 years to get my first one, and by the time I retire I am going to end up looking like the illustrated man.
  9. Left shoulder, intertwined hearts, my 3 life verses under that. I was in the process of getting a half sleeve, but I stopped until after my weight loss so that it isn't distorted. I am planing on a nail cross for my right calf. If you check out my gallery you can see them.
  10. CG, he was talking about missing beer, not that stuff.
  11. I did one of my favorite fast food joints, but it wasn't a big meal. I just ordered my favorites, I couldn't see the sense on gorging myself only to starve the next day.
  12. Jaye, IMHO, I have to disagree with you. I am not judging Nathan, but trying to eat so much that your band forces you to vomit is irresponsible and dangerous. Whether it is through a lack of knowledge or a lack of education does not make much difference. It is the one that that my surgeon stressed above all else and he gave me powerful drugs to make sure that it wouldn't happen. One of the things that I value above all else on this forum, is the brutally honest feedback that people who have gone before me offer on a regular basis. Would I always answer as they do? Absolutely not. But I would rather have those types of answers if I am engaging in behavior with my band that endangers my health in that way.
  13. I'm not sure, but I think she was jealous of the attention some women in costco where paying to me, as I did my shopping women kept stopping me and giving me food. Honest Mistress Band, I didn't even know those women, and they don't mean anything to me, please put the heels away, it is only you and my wife, I promise!
  14. The reason that people do this is because they think they can get away with it. Rudeness of this nature should not be tolerated! It should be faced head on and shoved back down the other persons throat IMHO. Now, get revenge, complete your diet, get your band and lose the weight!
  15. Mistress Band, the Dominatrix
  16. The band was my option of last resort, I WW, exercise and phentermine were no longer keeping the weight at bay. I was back up to 299, and I had sworn to myself I would never see my weight start with a "3" again. Why the band? I have a real bias against re-routing my plumbing. The complication rate was one tenth of the more drastic surgeries. And the most important part, I was chasing something that had happened to me when I first started taking phentermine. One meal, I pushed away a half eaten plate of food, because I simply wasn't hungry any more, the first time in my life that had ever happened. So far Mistress Band has been more than I could have dreamt, I am 4 weeks out and I may never need a fill, based on how I feel about food right now. I know that may change, but I want to go out on the front step of my house and scream at the top of my lungs "I AM NOT HUNGRY!" This is what I have been searching for all my life in my relationship to food. Based on what I have read I truly don't think that the Dr.s understand the mechanism, but I don't care. It works for me.
  17. Yup, she likes Indian food as much as I do. Go figure...
  18. to celebrate my first full day of solid food! The family tagged along and I had 1/2 a cup of Chicken Vindaloo, rice and naan bread. I firmly believe there will be Indian food in heaven. Mistress Band kept my love of eating in submission (her specialty), so I could concentrate on my love of food. I honestly believe that I spent most of the meal with my eyes closed concentrating on the flavors.
  19. Plication is where they fold the stomach in on itself and then so it to hold that shape. I had a partial plication, but my Dr. does it to help prevent slippage. Here is a link to a good explanation. https://weightloss.clevelandclinic.org/gastricplication.aspx
  20. 2 days post op and eating oatmeal? WOW, I was having trouble getting clear liquids down at that point, didn't even attempt skim milk until day 4. What type of post op diet does your Dr. have you on?
  21. This is a really bad habit for me, so right now I use chopsticks and an phone app called "eat slower" depending on what I am eating, I go 1 minute between bites, with 30 seconds of chewing time. Although with the chopsticks soup is a real pain.
  22. Mistress Band (The Dominatrix) sends her greetings.
  23. Mistress Band and I welcome you. Self pay here, 3 weeks from the seminar to my sugery.
  24. I didn't change, but I want to echo the importance of the staff. I have seen my surgeon 3 times, and if everything goes well I may not see him again for months. But my LB nurse is the one who does my classes and fills. On our pre-op visit she gave me her cell phone and told me to call it 24X7 if I ever have a problem or concern. She said if there was a problem, we wouldn't have to wait for normal business hours, but either she or the Dr. would meet us at the office when ever it was needed. You have no idea how much better that made my wife and I feel.
