  1. YEA!!! Missy is back and in her usual fine form!
  2. Where does the 40% come from? Haven't got a clue...but I do know one thing, just because some congressman says it, sure as hell doesn't mean it is true. How many congressmen where "birthers" who tried to prove that President Obama was a secret Muslim, born in Kenya. But I find it amazing that my Surgeon (who has the center of excellence certification) and has installed 900+ LB operations over 10 years has had only has a 4% removal rate, when I see people claiming "everyone they know has had theirs removed". He must be one hell of a surgeon
  3. Freshman in High School, 3 chicken legs and a multi-vitamin a day. worked like a charm, until put it back on faster than I lost it.
  4. Cool, according to this, I have never had a "true" aerobic workout...I have some Garmin data that would disagree with that How about you CF? You ready to stop dogging it and trade your road bike in for an elliptical trainer? I think I will post this over on bikeforums.net and see if they have an opinion. "It is very difficult to get a consistent true aerobic workout using a bicycle. One reason for this is because a bicycle freewheels. It can roll for long periods with no energy applied. If you ride uphill you get exercise. If you ride downhill you get very little exercise. Another reason is that It takes too much time for most people. I estimate you would have to do about 20-35 miles on a mountain bike, 35-60 miles on a comfort bike, and over 70 miles on a road bike. "
  5. Evidently they have never had a Road Bike
  6. Nice speed CF
  7. I know what you are talking about, there are times on my bike that I get to that point and become one with the bike, sun beating down, legs pumping, it is truly a moment of zen. Then there are the other times, legs and lungs are on fire and you know that you have taken the turn off to Hell.
  8. As I was riding to work this morning, I passed four or five spots that were at one time the limits of what I could do on my bike before I had to turn around and head back. I was reminded of a conversation I had with my wife last year, we had started walking walking together for 3 miles before work, and after a couple of weeks she asked, "Shouldn't this be getting easier?' My answer was no, if you want 3 miles to be easier, we need to start walking 4. So, we did and after a week of walking 4 together, she remarked that I was right, it was much easier to walk 3 than it had been. So, the question of when does exercise get easier? The short answer is of course, never. The long answer is that since our bodies are basically lazy and will only do what is required of them, in order to make what I am doing today easier, I have to do more, which is harder. So, in order to make the 3 days a week that I ride to work easier, I need to ride farther on my off days
  9. I've used it, and I like it. As far as being band friendly, while I have no problem with it, doesn't mean you wont. That is the nature of the band.
  10. Morning work ride: 1:28 minutes, 21.75 Miles, 1021Calories Afternoon work ride: 1:38 minutes, 21.85 Miles 1100 Calories That gives me 130.12 miles, 8:54:28 h:m:s, 6,966 Calories for the week.
  11. STOP THAT! No matter who you are, there is always someone better. I went to a race last year called "Tour of Utah" the course for the first day of six was 138 miles, with a 3,000 foot climb in 90+ degree desert heat, And that was their easiest day! Compared to them, I shouldn't even be allowed to own a bike. The only competition that is worthwhile is the one you have with yourself. You are doing a great job, keep it up. Every time you get on that bike, you get off in better shape,
  12. Ask Dan if he would rather put it into a divorce lawyer than the surgery or the patio. What an ASSH*T
  13. It is ok when your Dr. says it is ok.
  14. No biking to work for me today, so I went for a little jaunt when I got home. Only problem, the Water bottle that I filled got left on the kitchen counter :-) But there was a drinking fountain at mile 10 and I had an empty bottle on the bike, so I wasn't hurting too badly. 23 Miles, 1:23 Minutes, 1100 Calories.
  15. I generally try and ignore trolls, but for the other two I try and fight FUD with Facts. For instance, every times somebody mentions that they know someone that had a problem I mention the studies that show long term effectiveness.
  16. Green zone has nothing to do with what you can eat, it deals with satiety when you eat the right things. I just got out of my monthly checkup without a fill. Why? I'm usually not hungry for 3-5 hours after I eat and I lost 6 pounds last month, I can eat anything (Well I don't really know that for sure, I haven't tried everything). Could I be tighter? Probably, don't want to find out.
  17. There is a really good way to not fail, don't try. If you are happy being fat, if the decreased quality of life and shortened life span aren't a problem for you, then don't get banded. Thing is, you wouldn't be on this forum posting if that were the case. So the question you really should be asking is not "What if I fail", but what if I do nothing.
  18. Yes In fact I enjoy my food more now than before
  19. I am in mine twice a day with no discernible effect.
  20. No, this has nothing to do with coffee. I was addressing the claims that caffeinated drinks are diuretic and shouldn't be used for hydration. BTW, my Dr. has absolutely no problems with coffee or caffeine.
  21. One of the head hunger issues that really haunts me is using food as a reward. Yesterday, I planted my butt on a bicycle seat for almost 3.5 hours and burned 2200 calories and I finished up the day with over a 1000 calories that I didn't eat. Once a week, I take my two girls for fresh donuts in the morning before I drop them off at school and this was the morning. As we approached the little voices in my head kept singing, you were good, you exercised, you deserve a donut over and over again. As my girls picked out their donuts I could literally taste them in my mind, but finally I stopped and said, NO, what I deserve is to be thin, turned and walked away with my daughters to pay for their donuts. Today, YOU deserve to be thin, don't settle for anything less that what is rightfully yours.
  22. It isn't supposed to be deep in the muscle tissue, but it is anchored to it. Yes, I can see and feel mine.
  23. On behalf of males everywhere I want to agree that "We hate bras too!"
  24. I know there are a lot of different opinions going around, but give me a good old scientific study any day... http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12187618
  25. Cute, no. The facility where I work has a gym, with showers in the locker room.
