"The wrinkles must be under those pink glasses" I wear the pink glasses to hide the wrinkles! And I'm not so sure that I'm brave, I just think I'm having a midlife crisis. I turned 40, had weightloss surgery, bought a Harley (an orange one at that,) dyed half my hair blonde and shaved the other half off and started a business selling adult toys. Can somebody please pass me the hormone pills before I pierce my nose?

What was YOUR most desperate, CRAZY WL scheme?
Electrical shock treatment. But I won't go into details since there's already a thread like this started where I poured my guts out.

VEGAS BASH 2005 Final Countdown
I bolded all the confirmed folks so far, but not many people have seen this thread. I'm 99% positive on some people, but I'll wait for them to say for sure. Plus there's still a month left for last-minuters and for Princess and the Pea to sneak away here!

Nutri System Diet?
I think we all felt that way at some point. But tons of us already tried Nutrisystem and many other expensive and useless diets. Save your money and be patient. Just my opinion.

Feedback on Mexico - Share your stories.
I had to fly back to Mexico for emergency port removal. Dr. Kuri was wonderful, but all the Mexican doctors work out of a variety of facilities. The place I was at looked like it doubled for the DMV. Nobody asked me for any identification. A very sweet nun came and took me to Kuri, who took a peek at my wound then got me into the operating room. Even though the surgery suite had 2 doorways, neither one of them had doors, so anyone walking around the halls could sneeze (or worse) practically into your open surgical site. Kuri was wonderful, but scary things go on in TJ. Chicks sexing it up with burrows for the price of a few pesos, but the government allows it, for example. Federales pull Americans over, and either you bribe them with cash or you go to jail. Don't be fooled just because you have a really great surgeon because the fact remains that you're still in Tijuana, Mexico.

TV - Skinny teen got a Bypass in Mexico
I can't believe I'm not staring in that show! I need to get some headshots done and move back to Hollywood... that's right up my alley! Glad to know the bitch was turned into CPS on Grey's Anatomy. It's sad that lots of parents are really like that, too.

In a world of pain... but...
Sorry I haven't had a chance to return your call, but I was suprised with two teenagers. Their parents left for 4 days, so I'm an instant mom. I'll try calling you tonight, but GREAT to hear from you.

Why dont my friends want me around??
Consider it a growing experience and make new friends. If they were real friends, they'd still be around.

By the way, Vine, I went to school in Hollywood. When I say "TV" it automatically means I'm talking in fairytale!

TV - Skinny teen got a Bypass in Mexico
When I flew to Mexico for my original surgery, I had to wait for another patient coming from another flight. I kept looking out for an obese woman, when this "chubby" very attractive woman approached. I thought she was the patient coordinator and was shocked that she'd have WLS to lose 30 pounds. I later learned she freaked out in the operating room and refused to go through with it, but then later they talked her into it. We exchanged numbers, but she never responded to any of my contacts. Someone posted on another thread (the one about Mexican and experiences) that they didn't think anything like this could happen in real life, but I think it could. I'm almost sure it will now, as if that show was publicity for rich anorexic teens with access to cash and weekends in Mexico. Scares me.

Look what Maryanne did to my head! And yes, I'm loving it! And no, I won't post a pic of the front because I'm in denial about the new wrinkles that keep developing and the few pounds I put back on.

Dr. Lopez did a 13 year old the same day as me. I considered her chubby and was shocked her parents didn't wait till she was at least 18 or even 16. I don't think the show was too far-fetched. Here at LBT we only hear of the top Mexican doctors that would never band a skinny girl. But for anyone that's ever spent time in Tijuana, they'll do almost anything for a chunk of American cash. There are doctors in TJ that will write prescriptions for anything if you slip them $20.00. I was never asked for an ID during my 2nd port removal and nobody ever spelled my name the same twice.

TV - Skinny teen got a Bypass in Mexico
I know it was fiction, but I still want to know how it ended! I've heard of that show but never got a chance to see it. Not a bad show! But honestly, it could really happen. Anything goes in Mexico. Dr. Kuri never even asked for ID when I had my port removed.

TV - Skinny teen got a Bypass in Mexico
Did anyone watch TV last night and see a show where a young teen went to Mexico to get a bypass operation? She was already skinny, but her mother was one of those uptight skinny bitches that always hounded her young daughter about weight. So the girl snuck off to Mexico and got a bypass operation. They showed the scars on her flat tummy, and I was shocked. She got really botched up, and the hospital said they needed to reverse the bypass. I fell asleep right during her operation, so I'm dying to know what happened. I was just flipping through channels, and I don't know any of the actors so I don't even know the name of the show.

VEGAS BASH 2005 Final Countdown
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE (did I say Please?) Please print these directions. Last year 6 people called at once asking for directions while the doorbell was ringing and I was burning down the kitchen. Chris & Lisa Bonekovic "Bones" 8130 Fox Tail Way Las Vegas, Nevada 89123 (702) 269-9220 - home (702) 419-6054 - Lisa's cell Any cab driver, or anyone familiar with Vegas, will know exactly where I am. We are right off the Windmill West exit of the 215 Freeway. Driving from California, take the Blue Diamond exit off the 15 South, which curves around to the light at Las Vegas Blvd. Make a right onto LV Blvd, then go Left at Windmill. Travel about 3 miles and go Right at Hunter's Glen, then a very quick Left at Sleetridge, which turns into Fox Tail Way. You'll see a house with a big ugly fountain, and I live right next door. You'll see my house as soon as you make the left onto Sleetridge. Those are the same directions from anywhere on the Strip. Just take Las Vegas Blvd. South, Left on Windmill, Right on Hunter's Glen, Left on Sleetridge which curves into Fox Tail Way. I live right past the curve next to the ugly fountain house. OR, from anywhere in Vegas or Henderson, get on the 215 freeway and take the Windmill West exit. After you cross the traffic light, make a Left on Hunter's Glen (it's the first tiny side-street after the light.) Then an immediate Left onto Sleetridge, which curves into Fox Tail. You'll see a house with an ugly fountain, and my house is next door. You can't miss it. Buca di Bepo is on Flamingo at Paradise (it's not on the very corner, but go to the North-East corner of Flamingo and Paradise and you'll see it across the street from Terrible's Casino. I will make the reservations for 20 people for drinks at 5:00 p.m. and dinner to be served at 6:00 p.m. starting with salad and Garlic Bread. I will edit this post later with the menu. Please bring cash/change. Dinner will be approximately $15.00 each unless their prices have increased, so bring $20 just in case.

VEGAS BASH 2005 Final Countdown
I asked the moderators to lock the old thread. This is the official countdown thread, so please keep this thread updated and let me know if there are any changes. I know at least 2 people have rooms booked at Harrah's on The Strip but I'm not sure where everyone else is staying. I copied this list from the old thread, but I removed some names of people that said they can't make it (but I think they should re-change their minds and come!) Vines - CONFIRMED Christina - CONFIRMED Michelle (staying at Harrah's) CONFIRMED Hostess DeLarla & Chris (that's me, Lisa) BOTH CONFIRMED Terri (coyotegirl) (don't need a room) TERRI CONFIRMED Francesca & SO (staying at Harrah's on the Strip) CONFIRMED Bushbaby - CONFIRMED Vegas Angie - confirmed for Saturday but can't be at Buca Vegas Christina - confirmed for party and dinner Jenna -CONFIRMED Rica and DH (no room needed, staying at Orleans) IS THIS ACCURATE? PLEASE POST ANY CHANGES - thanks I'll write a separate post with directions to my house. I'm sorry, but I can't offer rides to and from airports or hotels this year because there's only one of me and 20 of you (I learned the hard way last year!) But I am offering rides to anyone with special needs (wheelchairs, crutches etc.) but only if I'm not intoxicated yet. If anyone is driving and doesn't mind giving rides, the airport is 5 minutes from my house, and as of last month cost $14.00 to get to my house. The strip is 7 miles away. Last year people paired up and shared cab fare (about 10 minutes to Harrah's.) Friday night at Buca di Bepo (corner Flamingo and Paradise.) Dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m. It's a busy place so we won't wait for late-comers, but you will NOT go hungry at Buca once you finally show up. Buca serves food "family style" which means there will be huge platters of food all over the table and will be plenty for later folks. However, try to show up at 5:00 p.m. for drinks. I will be there at 5:00 p.m. I will post a separate thread with the menu and directions to Buca. Please bring $15.00 - $20.00 cash per person. I think last year was around $13.00 each, but there are more people this year and I think I'm going to order an extra dish or two. Everybody will pay for their own drinks separately (either walk up to the bar or ask a waiter.) Last year we spent several hours at Buca, then some of us walked across the street to Terrible's Casino, while everyone else hit The Strip. I will probably hang out at Terrible's for an hour then go home to get well rested for the next day. I'm not setting a time for Saturday. If you want to "ease in" to the whole Bash experience, come over early since I'll be up cooking, chopping, mixing my famous Ice Tea's (DeLarla's Ice Teas, that is, so hand over your keys.) You don't have to bring anything, but if you want to bring your famous dish or the ingredients, please join us in the kitchen, which ended up being the heartbeat of last year's party. My kitchen leads to the pool and all areas of the house, and it was great to have us all their preparing and cooking together. If you really want to contribute something but can't pack the ingredients in your suit case, there are grocery stores within minutes that I can bring you to. Games: DeLarla's Famous Name Game: I'm going to put a label on your back with a famous name, and you have to figure out who you are. Now that I have my own business, expect a very tasty treat from my inventory for your prize. Please bring a White Elephant Gift for an exchange. I have no idea what that means, but it was fun. I think it's supposed to be something new you have lying around the house, but last year there were candles, photo albums, crystal, etc. The gifts all get set on the table, and we can pick numbers to see who goes first, and this will start at 1:00 then lead into other games (but only if someone else comes up with games and can run them.) Then we'll start the clothing exchange so nobody gets left out. If you want to participate in the games, you have to be there on time. Clothing exchange: Bring all clothing you no longer wear, regardless of size. This will be the last year for the clothing exchange because I don't have room to store the stuff. Ladies, I don't have half of what I had last year, so start shipping boxes if you wish to donate. All left over clothing goes to Opportunity Village, which offers employment opportunities to physically and mentally handicapped folks (they actually work at the stores where the clothes will get sold.) If anybody else wants to set up some games, please do so. I will donate a handful of items from my awesome inventory as prizes. There's no set time for eating Saturday - it's an all day munching thing. You can stay as late as you want, but most people cleared out by sunset because everyone wanted to party in Vegas - I won't let anyone intoxicated drive, so if you plan on drinking a lot, plan for a cab fare (or mooch a ride from someone.) I have no plans for Sunday, but if anybody wants to see the beautiful side of Vegas, I can fit 4-5 non-gamblers in a truck and would love to take you on a breathtaking scenic ride through Redrock Canyon (very historical; original Vegas settlers, Indians living off the land, potential for wild mustang & burro sightings - MAJOR PHOTO OPS.) We can leave early and be back within less than 2 hours. Or I'll just lie on the couch and nurse my hangover, or meet for Bingo or Brunch. What did I forget? Directions to my house and to Buca will soon follow. P.S. I planned the Bash a year ago, but I just starting my own business this month, so this is not a plot to sell you anything and I won't be offering demonstrations or turning the Bash into work. However, there are "adult themed" products on display in my office. If this offends you, I can throw sheets over the table or you can avoid entering my office. It's just too much work to break down my display every time company comes over, so please PM me if you really want me to pack everything up. A lot of it is normal G-rated bath-type products, but I don't want anyone shocked if they accidentally wander into the office thinking you're going potty. THE BATHROOM IS ON THE LEFT, so don't open the door straight down the hall and you won't see my Coochie! Ha Ha, that was totally innocent because Coochie is just a shave cream that prevents red bumps! See, I'm totally innocent!

How Many Exercise Gadgets Do You Own?
Having all that crap lying around puts extra pressure on us. I just want to breathe, which is why I'm doing anything and everything to get rid of anxiety. All it takes to stay healthy is 30-60 minutes of walking a few times a week and a few pumps of weights. We are not body builders, just regular people. We've exercised more than all our skinny friends put together. If we were gonna have rock hard bods, it would have happened by now! Remember the comedianne (sp?) who said she orders a salad on all dates, then goes home, bolts the door and put on her eating clothes? Then she says, "And you gotta go to the gym, cause if you don't some other bitch will!" But my favorite line is when she says every time she exercises, she stares at the phone waiting for it to ring with the recorded message telling her she's just completed the exercise portion of her life. That's what I'm hoping for!
