    Dear Weight Loss Comrades:
I survived my LapBand surgery today and surprisingly, I feel great. I was really expecting to be in more pain than what I am.
Went in for the surgery at 6 a.m. Surgery performed 7:30 a.m. Discharged at 11 a.m.
The incisions are very tiny. With the exception of some really mild stomach discomfort (which is alleviated with my heated blanket), I feel great for having underwent surgery. Again, I was really expecting to be in a lot more pain than I am.
Haven't regretted anything. I already lost 14 pounds just from having been on the pre-op liquid diet.
    This is so worth it!!!

It'sTime got a reaction from ☠carolinagirl☠ in Who am I if I'm not fat?
Once you start the liquid diet and the fat starts melting off, you won't be able to wait for your surgery so the rest of it can melt off too.
And then, once the co-morbidities are gone and you can stop taking all those medicines, you'll wonder why you didn't do this a long time ago.
I've been overweight 10+ years. In the last two years, I've been diagnosed with sleep apnea, high cholesterol, and had spine surgery. Diabetes and high blood pressure were probably right around the corner. I realized I had a serious problem and it was time for me to fix it.

Third day post op. finally got to shower today and remove the dressing from my incision. However the little sticky things had to stay on. Of course some came off after I got out the shower. My incision looks bad, to me, I'm afraid it shouldn't look like this.

Haha. You don't need to sit to sleep. I spoke to my surgeon. The more movement the better. The body needs to get used to getting up and laying back down. My first night home I was in and out of the bed ALL NIGHT, every 15 minutes. No sleep. I needed help out of the bed but I was definitely up and down.
It's like exercising the tummy. My pain is actually gone. And I'm only on day 3. Now all I have is discomfort. The feeling is ok. Remember, you DO have a foreign object in there.

i was banded tuesday. Believe that's the port or actual band. When I lay down I feel the same "pushing forward" feeling. Feels like there's a ball/ bubble.

My throat is really sore mostly when I wake up from a nap and my neck and throat hurts me really bad:-( I'm still sipping on Clear Liquids I have not moved to full liquids yet, just want to make sure that I'm able to keep things down.

I would strongly encourage you to ditch the sugary sodas once and for all.
I'm on my liquid diet now and ditching the soda hasn't been easy, but I have to do it for health reasons.
Putting those zero calorie propel flavor thingys into 16 ounces of Water has truly worked wonders for me. I'm actually amazed at how good they make the Water taste considering they are zero calories.
Hang in there, remind yourself why you got the band in the first place, and do the things you need to do and you will succeed.

Just had my surgery yesterday, May 7th and so far so good. Had Clear Liquids the first day. Today I had cream of tomato/roasted pepper Soup, Spirutein shakes, and greek yogurt. I am sore, but have tried to walk a lot today. Gas pain from the air injected and some local soreness is what I have experienced so far. Tylenol has been my main pain med so far and hopefully tomorrow I will not need it.
