  1. Every time I bend over or down, I feel the port. I was banded two weeks ago. I think it is very common.

  3. There is a reason why they call this a journey. So you've hit a few setbacks . . . At least you're being realistic with where you've been and where you're at. You've done it once, you can do it again!!!

    Surgery was today

I have a desk job and went back to work after 4 days. Looking back, I should have taken two weeks off. I really wasn't 100% until about two weeks post-op. Even though I started feeling better, I should have taken it easy and not rushed things. The hardest part for me was that the incision where my port was inserted hurt pretty bad when I sat for extended periods of time.

    Banded 5/13 - help!

1 lb a day!?!?!? In less than a year you're going to disappear! It's not uncommon to start losing the weight consistently until they start giving you fills and you become more restricted. Most doctors that I know do the first fill 6 weeks after the operation. Most of the weight you lose on the pre-op diet is Water weight, which is why it tends to come off so quickly. Just remember, this is a marathon and not a sprint. Be patient, get your fills, and do what your doctor advises and you will eventually see the weight slowly start to melt off.
  6. Self-pays in my area pay about $10K.

    37.1 bmi- chances?

I got approved with a BMI under 40 and one co-morbidity (sleep apnea).
  8. What's that? Where you fart a lot or something?
  9. I just done the math and if I live another 50 years I'll save $240,000 on food and beverage since having the LapBand. That's enough to put all my kids through college and still buy a new Cadillac!!!! I had a soda habit that would make fat bastard jealous. I usually ate out twice a day. Wow, that really adds up! Hot Stock Alert: If you own any shares of Pepsi-Cola you better dump it fast!!!

    Scars & port

My word, with a body like that who cares about a small bump under the rib??? You gonna be America's next top model.

Ugh. I can eat anything !

Making sure you don't drink when you eat is super important!!! Otherwise, make sure you are drinking water throughout the entire day. Those two tips alone should help restrict your appetite. That's what has been helping me until I get my first fill.

    tomorrows the day!!!!

Being nervous is normal, but there is absolutely nothing to worry about. I've only had the LapBand for two weeks and I can tell you it is absolutely the best thing I've ever done for myself and my family. Remember, haters gonna hate and bandsters gonna lose weight!!! LapBand = Fat melting off your body and staying off.

    All in the protein....pre-op

Stephanie, I went back to work after one week. Looking back, I should have waited two weeks. I felt great after one week, but I was still not 100% and still had a lifting restriction. Now that nearly two weeks have past, I feel fantastic and just wish I would have took some extra down time. Best Wishes for a successful pre-op diet and surgery!

    Such muscle pain

The secret is to have some Protein immediately after your workout. Works like magic. I used to have the same problem.

    Dr.

The carbonation can cause horrendous stomach pains as the band limits your ability to belch and relieve the carbonation in your stomach.
  19. Be patient. It gets better day by day. Walk as much as you can. Helps tremendously.
  20. My 30-year old sister had a stoke approximatrly 30 minutes after a chiropractor "adjusted" her neck. Since then our family tends to stay away from Chiropractors.
  21. That was absolutely fantastic! Thank you for sharing!

    Banding Tomorrow

Don't be surprised if the second day is worse than the first, but for me it's been increasingly better everyday since day 3.
  23. Being 400 lbs would make me nervous. Is anything you've read about having the LapBand more dangerous than the risks associated with being 400 pounds?
