You have absolutely nothing to be embarassed about, really.
You're 6wks out and that was your healing time and not loosing time.
You don't owe anyone an explanation. I hope you are doing this just for you.
You are the one you have to answer to and no one else.
If you're following your Drs plan, you should be proud of yourself.
You've just come through the roughest part, pre & post op.
Stand tall, be proud. You are becoming a new and healthier you.

Try a couple of hours of slowly sipping hot liquids, don't overdo it. If it hurts bad enough today to page your Dr do it, otherwise I would do liquids only til tomorrow and call. Please don't wait.

You might want to consider finding another surgeon to do your aftercare. Sounds like you didn't get off to a good start with the original one.

I was sick a week before surgery and called my surgeon. I got an antibiotic 5 days presurgery and had a slight cough the day of, but since they give you IV antibiotics I was 100% the day after surgery, just made sure to do extra breathing exercises to make sure it didn't come back. Don't lose hope!

    Black Bean Soup
I am only on day 8 post op & tired of regular liquids so I whipped this up & actually forgot I just had a lap band sewn in cause it tastes so good! (You can control the stage by adding more Water, blending or not blending).
2 26 oz cans Black Beans
12 oz chicken or Vegetable stock
1/2 scoop of unflavored Protein Powder
    1 medium onion - chopped
    2 tsp minced garlic
1 medium bell pepper - chopped
    1 tsp sea salt
    1/2 tsp ground cumin
    1/4 tsp Garlic powder
    1 tbs lemon juice
    Additional Garlic powder to taste
1/4 c Low fat mild cheddar cheese (optional to garnish)
Combine Chicken stock (or vegetable stock), onion, garlic, and bell pepper in large pot. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes.
Add 2 cans of beans (do not drain), salt, cumin, garlic powder and lemon juice.
    Cook for additional 7 minutes.
    Remove from heat.
Puree in blender, food processor or with hand held blender.
Add 1/2 scoop of Protein Powder and continue blending until completely dissolved.
Return mixture to pot. Add extra garlic powder to taste.
Top with 1/4c cheddar to garnish and enjoy. Portion into stage-sized meals & Freeze extras for future use.
(I used organic Chicken broth ,Bushs Black Beans and GNC unflavored whey protien powder)

    Hi all,
I have a crazy goal. I want to lose a total of 68 lbs by March 11th...thats 3 months from now. I have lost 25 lbs in 5.5 weeks so far, so I have 43 to go. Has anyone done this-and I mean the healthy way-and have a story to tell? My company has a bi-yearly convention so I will be seeing people I have not seen in 2 years and it is in Vegas, so I want to be comfortable on the plane and fit into some shnazzy clothes. I think it's reachable but if there is anyone out there who had made it happen, it would make it that much more attainable for me! Thank you!

What helped me was sipping hot liquids and taking hot showers. It got rid of the throat/neck pain and back/shoulder pain. Like the other ladies have said, in a month or 2 it'll be so worth it this will be just a blip on the radar. Congratulations!

My daughter is 4 and I just kept it simple with her and said "mommy is going to the doctor for surgery and he is going to fix my belly" she asked few questions like will it hurt? I told her I would hv a few boo boos but I would be fine. I am 1week post op and she has been the best doctor ever. She wants to help me with everything. If I tried to bend to pick something up she would say "no mommy ur boo boo" and she is curious bout the incisions so I let her look at them.

Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement! There is nothing like positive reinforcement to keep one going I have an update....I am now only 6 lbs from my goal weight! I'm at 146 lbs and going for 140. My doctor asked me at my last visit did I want to stick with 140 as a goal, since the normal weight for my height is 129 lbs. I told him I already can see my ribs and spine....I'm thinking 129 would be too skinny. Thinking back on that conversation makes me giggle....I never thought I would be concerned about being too skinny. It's such a shift in the way I think of myself. And I've had some of the most amazing experiences that make it all worth it...my 10 y/o son being able to clasp his hands together when he hugs me around my waist, being able to ride a roller coaster and not worry about the security latch not closing because of my weight (I actually caught air under my tush and lifted a little out of my seat on the roller coaster ride, lol), being able to sit in an office chair with arms, not having to shop in the plus size section and catching myself looking at clothes there realizing everything is too big for me, cleaning out my closet and donating clothes because they are too big rather than too small, having someone I haven't seen in a long time walk right past me and not recognize me when I said who I was, having one of my "skinny" friends being able to pick me up with my feet not touching the ground, walking far and climbing stairs without getting winded and dizzy, gosh I could go on forever. Well, I know what I am thankful for this Thanks Giving Holiday!

I've been going once a week. I used to weigh daily and I find it depressing - even Water can add or subtract a few pounds so I figure weighing on a weekly basis will give a more realistic average for me (and it prevents the daily heart attacks haha).

I am hoping for 2 lbs a week average but I know it gets harder as your weight goes down so I was hoping to pull a couple of months with larger numbers to kick start. I also worry because I had my foot casted so now I can't walk as much so if anyone has ideas to burn calories sitting down (even saying that sounds funny) please let me know! I really want to be successful with this and it is great seeing everyone that has been where I am that is now where they are! All the support is really appreciated! Thank you!
