Post Op Pain- Need Advice
I was banded on November 6th and up until today, I have been feeling pretty good. Tired but not much pain. Today has been a different story. The lower left hand side of my stomach keeps having shooting pains through it. Has anyone had the same thing? I am supposed to go back to work tomorrow and now have some concerns. Any advice is welcome...

Day 3 Post
I would talk to your doctor. I am on a full liquid diet until my first post-op appt. I only had to be on clear liquids the day I had the surgery.
-
Day 3 Post
I used unsweetened almond milk but you could use water or skim milk. I did add some unflavored protein as well.

Day 3 Post
I had my husband get wonton soup from the Chinese restaurant and I just had the broth. My dr also said I could have any soup as long as I put it in the blender. I did this to a Progresso soup and also thinned it out with Water. I also thinned out some cream of wheat and thinned out SF pudding. I have been adding unflavored Protein to everything to make sure I am getting enough to heal. Good luck!

16 Days Post Op, Down 20 Lbs
You are still swollen from the surgery. Let your body heal before you start weighing yourself. I had my surgery last week and asked my husband to hide the scale so I am not tempted! Don't want to get frustrated!

Anxiety Anyone???
I know how you are feeling. I was banded last week and felt so anxious. I finally had to focus on why I was getting the surgery and had to stop focusing on what got me there. I have two small boys and I am doing this to make me the best mommy I can. I have a hard time keeping up with them and the surgery will help me with this. Both of my boys were c-section babies and the pain with the c-sections has 20 times worse than the lap band. Take your pain meds and relax. You will be tired! Good luck....I know that you will do great!!

Post Op Burps/heart Burn
I just had my surgery on November 6th and one of the prescriptions my doctor gave me was liquid Zantac. Maybe call your doctor and ask for a prescription? My doctor explained that this doesn't necessarily mean I will have heartburn but he gives it to his patients right after surgery just to be safe.

Just Had Surgery...
I was just banded on Tuesday. Feeling good except the gas pains but I can live with them. This is a lot easier than my two c-sections! Question though: I am not really hungry. I have been sipping Water or decaf tea all day. I have three four once Protein shakes today and a little bit of broth. Is this enough?

Hungry!!
Mine was two weeks! You can do it....drink lots of water and you won't be hungry!

Today Is The Day!!
Good luck. I had my surgery on Tuesday and am feeling good. Just relax for the next few days and take the pain meds. Stay ahead of the game, don't wait until you have the pain. I had two c sections and a pillow across my abdomen really helps. Use it when you get up and move around. Good luck!

The November 'band'wagon!
In case you are having problems getting in protein: I bought unflavored protein powder at GNC and have been mixing it with my broth. Makes it a little cloudy but you can't taste it at all.

The November 'band'wagon!
Am I the only one having no problems getting liquids down? I have been drinking all day and have been fine. Is this normal?
-
Post Op Day 1
Hold a pillow up against your incisions when you get up. It won't hurt so bad.

The November 'band'wagon!
Doing well here. Had a small Protein shake this morning and now having a cup of tea. I wouldn't say I have pain from gas....just uncomfortable. I have these ThermaCare heating pads that are helping. Pain meds make me itch so taking Benadryl so I am super sleepy. This is a breeze compared to my two C-sections!

Mashed Potatoes
This is what I am allowed for two weeks until I see my doctor. Just got banded today. Foods for full liquid diet.

35 Lbs Gone. !!!!
Congrats!

I Can Now Post In The Post-Op Forum!
Just got home from the hospital. Feeling ok. No real pain just really tired. I was itching because of the pain meds so they gave me Benadryl. Repaired a hernia why he was in there. Other than that feeling good. How about everyone else?

Im Losing It... Mentally
I am tearing up as I type this. I am on Day 7 of my pre-op diet of only Protein shakes, broth, and sf Popsicles. On top of it, I have a cold and it is that time of the month. I am not hungry but really just want to eat something! And it looks like I am going to be in the house for a couple of days with the kids while my husband is at work....NJ is going to get walloped by Hurricane Sandy. Losing my sanity!!

Steri Strip Residue
Try Vaseline and a wet washcloth. Always works with my kids when they take off a band-aid and half the dirt from the backyard is stuck to them!

The November 'band'wagon!
I am on Day 3 of my pre-op diet. Getting banded on November 6th. It has been going pretty good. I am only allowed three shakes a day plus broth and sugar free ice pops. So far, I have just been having the shakes. Not too hungry....been drinking lots of water and no calorie drinks. Hardest part I am having a problem with is breaking the habit of eating. I was making my kids' lunch and really had to keep myself from munching. I wasn't even hungry....just so used to it. On the bright side, the number on the scale is getting smaller!

Protein Help!!
I bought unflavored protein from GNC. I have my surgery scheduled for November 6th and thought it would be good to boast up some chicken stock with it.
