  1. I'm just gonna jump in for a second here...to answer the question of why successful banders are in the "complications forum"....I believe it's becase the new posts show up on the "Recent Topics" section, always present on the righthand side of the website. I read all kinds of posts in random forums because of that little section. Just sayin.
  2. They eat fish, but no other meats.
  3. I take Thompson Biotin, 5000, once a day. I got them on Amazon and they are super tiny...about the size of a birth control pill. http://www.amazon.com/Thompson-Biotin----5000-mcg/dp/B0085E4FTU/ref=sr_1_4?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1358442819&sr=1-4&keywords=THOMPSON+BIOTIN

  5. So, so happy to hear it's available on Kindle now!! Gonna go buy it right now, formatting issues and all
  6. Congratulations!! I'm so, so happy for you
  7. Congratulations on your success!
  8. Hope your days ends on a good note.
  9. I made a little spreadsheet in Excel. You're welcome to use it. (attached) Let me know if you can't open it. Nutrition Tracker.xlsx
  10. No one but the insurance company is going to be able to answer that for you. Call them or look it up on their website.
  11. Health issues like high blood pressure, diabetes, sleep apnea, etc. If you don't have any of the issues you may have a hard time getting insurance to pay with your lower BMI. This is just based on what I have researched, so I could be wrong. And like laurigee pointed out, some insurances don't cover any wls. You might want to try calling your insurance and inquiring as to what their requirements are.
  12. I think insurance will cover if you are over 35 BMI with 2 or more comorbidities (health issues). At least, that is what my insurance requires. Based on your height and weight, your BMI is 37.
  13. Thanks everyone. I'm using these six months to begin changing my eatting habits. I'm trying to do more fresh meats, vegies, fruits and less processed crap. And I'm also trying to work on my emotional issues with food. I really am glad for the 6 months, I don't know if I would be "ready" if I could have gotten the band immediately.
  14. What kind of insurance do you have? Is your insurance self funded by your company?
  15. I have just a quick little question...for those of you who had to complete a six month supervised diet prior to insurance approval, how much weight did you lose? On one hand I want to lose weight (duh, of course) but on the other I'm afraid to lose weight and then be denied because I'm able to lose without the band. What's your take on this?
  16. How frustrating that must be! Has someone from you surgeon's office called your insurance company and gotten verbal verification of what they do or do not cover? The insurance specialist at my surgeon's office called during my first appointment.
  17. Like 2muchfun said, it all depends on your insurance and surgeon. I attended a seminar in October and am currently half way through a 6 month supervised diet required by my insurance. Hoping I will be approved and have surgery early this summer. Have you called your insurance company and inquired if they cover wls and what their requirements are?
  18. Everyone has plateaus. Perhaps try upping your calories for a few days? Plus you're still healing. Don't get discouraged, the pounds will start to drop.
  19. If you have the money, I'd do it at home.
  20. Just think positive. Everything will go great.
