I personally would go with my heart and how I felt if u have any doubts I would find another doc.. Also I would be frank and honest with the surgeon and see if you could find other patients who have had the surgery by this surgeon.You'd would rather it take longer than have a botched surgery..perhaps this man has other issues ? I don't know how much u have to loose but sounds like this man may have been a high risk patient? Do your homework & do not go with a doctor just because they can do your surgery sooner , this surgery is to help make you healthy ! Also ask on this forum if anyone knows this surgeon .let ppl know what area you are in and there could be someone out there who has used the same surgeon;-) good luck !!

Yikes! I am having surgery hopefully first of may...what have doctors told u? I have heard of a few ppl that this has happened to but they had a stricture ..hope someone can offer you some advise!

I do not however I know a lady who does...she lost around 100 or so pounds ..she was pushing 400...she still struggles with her legs and the doctor said it will always be an issue..unfortunately for her when ppl find out she has had bypass they are shocked because she's still a larger lady...I must add however she really did not follow doctors orders and eat like she was supposed to, she probably would have lost down more than she did had she changed her lifestyle..She has a terrible time with her legs "leaking" fluid and sometimes has to take off work due to the pain:/ Hopefully if you have this issue you will improve !

I agree nothing will prevent your hair from coming out but shampoo can make a difference in the condition of you hair ...

I have not had surgery yet ..expecting to around may-June...I started taking biotin about a year ago..I am a hairstylist and I can tell u that Pureology shampoo is the absolute best!! It's on the pricey side..but because u use very little of it it last a long time! You can only get it from your stylist or if u know someone with a license ..may can order online? But it will change the quality of your hair ..money well spent!

I have it also ..I can't get used to my Cpap...it's been 4 weeks mayb? It comes off every night about 1230ish ..everyone says if I get used to it ill love it ...as of yet we are NOT friends!!!:/

Your story sounds sooooooo much like mine! I was convinced I was only going to do the band! My hubby wasn't thrilled but was ok with just the band...then after hours upon hours obsessively researching my options I decided the bands success rate and limitations were NOT for me! I have decided to make a life changing decision about my health ,happiness,&the way I view who I am..the band while I'm sure works for some...has a VERY high failure rate & complications...if you will really look @ different post on here I think you will see that many people are having revisions from band to RNY...I will finish my 6 month diet in April & should have surgery in the spring (God willing!) I was terrified of the thought of RNY now I cannot wait!!! I have prayed that Gods will be done where this surgery is concerned for me.i have total peace now & am confident it is the right decision for me !Also you will receive so much support here ...it's almost like a extended family ..everyone is supportive and truely can relate to you...if you ever need to vent or ask questions people are always here...I hope that you will find peace in your decision !!! hugs

Who's ur provider?

Your Insurace provider should be able to answer that..I called mine to find out everything is covered 100% when I get approved which hopefully will b end of April...i do have to pay a $250 deductible.

What was ur start weight? And how tall ..u look great congrats!

Do most docs require. 20 pound weightloss? I know a preop diet it required for liver shrinkage ..just wondered if 20 was the amount they all require? I won't have surgery til early spring ( that's when my 6 month diet will b complete)

My husband was so against it..he thinks its easy way out ..in the beginning he almost made me feel awful or guilty for even contemplating having RNY ..he said I don't wanna know anything about it!... Now he will say when's your surgery...and why do they make u go to so many doc appoints..he did tell me in the beginning he would be there for my surgery lol ..when I told him I would get someone to take me! He was & is just scared for me....he also says I'm not big enough:/ well I need to loose 100 pounds I think I'm big enough!!! Any who he is warming up to the idea ...I have an aunt who had it & is skin & bones & wrinkled..she didn't do what the doc said to do & after 10yrs looks 15-20 years older than she is , so therefore she is what he envisions with Rny patients ..my situation is just that he worries about me and I have come to understand that as well as he is beginning to understand I AM having the surgery !

Kat remember Gods timing is ALWAYS perfect!! We may want what we want when we want it but..He has a perfect plan...it's our nature to question why when we want something so bad...I would be so sad if my surgery was scheduled and I got sick & had to postpone... Mine won't be until springish..but I do know things happen for a reason..having said all of that I will pray for u that u aren't sick for wed. & that no matter the date of ur surgery u go thru it with ease ..and that ur family is well soon!! Wow I had to do it in the clinic last wed..now tomorrow night u have to do it again with cpap Not complaining tho because I needed to have apnea to qualify do to a lower than needed bmi
