DOes it feel like you have a lump in your throat? Does it feel like it is stuck?
  4. I drink right up until I eat, it actually makes me feel fuller so I eat less but I do wait an hour after I eat befor I drink any water. It does take some getting used to..the first time you are eating and take a big drink, it could be very painful for you...drinking while eating for me is not comfortable, it back me up and is painful..I've only done it once and thats all I needed to do to never do it again
  5. You can also drink right up intil you eat but no drinking for 1 hour afterwards Here is how my daily Water goes 20 oz 6:00 am eat Breakfast 8:00 am 20 oz 9:30 am eat lunch between 12-1 2:00 20 more oz 3:30 16 oz dinner at 5 or 6 pm 20 oz at 7:00 to wash out my pouch before bed You could still also be swollen form surgery which makes it s little harder to get it all in, but once the swelling is completely gone, should be no reason why you can not drink more ..I guzzle my water and have had 3 fills Also try adding a little crystal light to your water to give it a great taste, makes drinking so much water a little easier

Hmmm...I never experienced that feeling? DId Dr. Lopez use the tube going down your throat for anasthesia? That could cause a sore scratchy throat for a couple of weeks. My Dr. uses a new procedure not yet in the US it is a mask to put me completely under, no tube. I did not have the feeling in my throat you described..sorry. I hope it gets better for you
  7. Bandsters should not be eating much soup unless it is during the first 2 weeks post op stage. Liquid calroies will kill ya and slow your weight loss down. You need to focus on hard proteins and solids that will stay in the pouch for a long time. I have not had soup in 9 months unless I had gotten a fil land had 3 days of liquids. There are some bandsters who do eat soup on a regular basis, but Iam not one of them. I stay away from all liquid calories...It is one of the rules I can honestly say I follow very good
  8. I wish I had known... I was going to fart all the damn time and be full of gas ALWAYS!

Went from a size 22 to a size 12..I am 20 lbs from my original goal i set the day of my surgery. My Dr. told me I would have it all gone before I was 40..I believe he was right..Best of Luck to you You have come to the right place for support. We all are one big happy loving family here

I agree with Lisa..why is your Dr. allowing you to eat so soon post op. I had no food for 4 weeks. The band has to set in place, any digestive process by eating solid foods can interupt that with all the rumbling and churning it takes to digest those solids and you can risk slippage. What are you eating? THe pain in the shoulder I have heard from others is trapped gas from when they pumped the Co2 into you to do the surgery..it goes away after a week or two The air you are experiencing is also from the Co2 and the pain could be from the swelling and the air cant not make it's way out very easily. I experienced the same thing the first 3 weeks I had horrible pain in my diaphram area right under my breast bone, each day got better.. I think everything you are feeling when lying down, sitting or standing is from the gas and swelling..but still question your doctor on what you should be eating 4 days post op, that does not seem normal to me. Good Luck, Hang in there...you made the right decision this is just a bump in the road
  20. Hi Mike & welcome to the board. I have heard great things about Dr. Rumbaut. I went to Mexico also for my surgery but to Tiajuana not Monterey for thesame reasons , my insurance would not cover me..I have no regrets with my decision to go to Mexico I have recieved better care from my Dr. in Mexico then I have from any Dr. here in the states. Best of Luck to you, sorry I can not answer the guy question. Are you planning on going back to Monterey for your fills and aftercare? Do you have a Dr. lined up in NYC in the event of an emergency? I would highly reccomend it if you don't yet. Here is Inameds web site www.lapband.com. It gives a list of surgeons in NY,( click on surgeon locator)maybe you can call some of them to see if they take patients banded in Mexico..many US Dr.'s do'nt and the ones that do charge an arm and a leg but it is best to have someone in the event of an emergency.. Wishing you the best on your journey..

  22. Addict= A person who is a slave to a habit * Raising my hand* Uh that' would be me
  23. This does not sound good...is it hot to the touch? Keep an eye on it, it is hard for a Dr. to tell you since he is not visually seeing it. If you feel it is does not look right, then it most likely doesnt. We know our bodies better then anyone. Go to your PCP to se if it is infected. Any doubt do not wait, the last thing you want is a port infection. GOing to your PCP is not going to hurt none , it will just giveyou peace of mind if it is not infected. Good Luck
