Yeah, about 4 months of B hell for me. But I managed not to gain weight. The band did make me feel full quicker and I think that alone kept me from gaining. And, I also started to eat healthier. More greens, no sugars, no white flours, lean meats and seafood. It will all work out, no worries!

Welcome to the "White Knuckle Club"
Even after my first fill, 4 weeks after surgery and 4cc's........I GAINED weight because it made no difference, and I was allowed to eat regular solid food at that point...
2nf fill started to make a difference, 4 weeks after my first, 8 weeks after surgery.....
Something we all go through...unless you have a great deal of willpower...but then, if you did, you would not have needed WLS....
Hang in there...there is life at the other end...and it is worth it!!!!
Oh, I was in Bandster Hell for about 4-5 months, and then purgatory for 2 more months figuring out what the heck was going on between my band and myself...the band won......

I would point blank put that woman in her place. Seriously, you don't need that crap from her or anybody else.
If she says anything again, I'd say "What I eat is none of your concern and until you're a bariatric surgeon that knows more than my surgeon, mind your own business".
People are so ignorant. Don't let them get you down!

Honest Mistress Band, I didn't even know those women, and they don't mean anything to me, please put the heels away, it is only you and my wife, I promise!

The thing is, we need to exercise NOT to lose weight or get skinny or stay skinny. We all need to exercise, every size, shape, age and functional ability because it's good for us. It not only adds quantity of life but quality. While some of us do more than others, being active, mobile and getting that heart rate up everyday in anyway that works is necessary to overall wellness !!!!

I have not lost any weight for over a year, my body settling out where it should be, and wants to be, weight wise.....YET within that year I have dropped 2 more clothing sizes!!!
My last visit to my surgeon, after I got on the scale, he was looking at my chart ans was "puzzled"
He asked a few routine questions, and when we got onto my exercising routine, he then brightened up and said "That Explains Everything"
People say all the time how they loose weight with little or no exercise, but believe me....you have no idea what a additional change it will make!

    tattoomommy reacted to jg9956 in 2 1/2 months...down 49lbs :)
Banded on 11/2/12, down 49lbs total. Lost about 19 pre-op (10 day diet) and 40 since surgery. I had one fill on 12/10 and that was it. I don't think I even really needed it, but it was small, 1cc. I've been to the Dr. twice since then and he has not wanted to give me any more fills, as I'm losing very well without them. I'm fortunate to not have any difficulties thus far. I read about people getting "stuck", not being able to eat certain foods, that's just not me, and I'm so thankful. It's as if I do not have a band at all. I keep my portions right around 1 cup, I eat around 1000-1200 calories per day, some days slightly more. I do not limit myself from sweets or carbs, however I calculate them and track them. I have not touched a soda, regular or diet in months. This is a BIG deal, I was like, 6 diet pepsi's a day a few months ago. I don't eat fried foods for the most part, but recently on vacation, I indulged slightly. Had a few Margarita's and some chicken wings...but again, I tracked AND exercised! I love the feeling of finally being able to eat the foods I love, just not a lot of them, and being Ok with it. I still have missteps, I'm not perfect. The fact that I own a cupcake/cake bakery doesn't help with my love of sweets, but I'm doing so much better. Instead of a giant muffin and a croissant for Breakfast and a cupcake and a cookie in the afternoon, paired with a pile of fries, a burger and a diet coke...then dinner, oh my...well past 9pm...not good, NOW it's greek yogurt for breakfast, a high Protein lunch and maybe, one cupcake a week or a taste of one of my new creations, or a small cookie. I eat something sweet everyday, but because I have to. I have to taste test everything I make that's new, and right now I'm testing superbowl and valentine's items. Nonetheless, I feel I'm finally winning the war against the fat and all the stupid diets I've spent so much money on over the years. I am currently knocking on wood that my success keeps going in the right direction. If I plateau, then I will adjust the carbs/sweets, but for now, it's working for me to keep it in my diet so that I do not binge. It's hard everyday, but seeing the results has been my motivation. Im in 16 jeans now (down from 22's) and my shirts are getting looser. Not loving the boobs, since they are not decreasing at all, but that's another story. Hoping to have a reduction when I hit onederland... It was so nice to go on vacation and dress up everyday because I loved the way I looked! Ok, enough of my bragging...lol. I'm just happy and finally ready to share it!

tattoomommy reacted to Fantasy in Did .1 cc make a difference for you?
I had one tenth of a cc put in my band and it made a huge difference. So much so I had to have most of it removed. When I first got my band I had my first fill eight weeks after it was put in. I must have been the only one I know who was never in a hurry to lose weight. So after the first two fills I only had one tenth of a cc put in everytime I got a fill. It took about 9 months before I got perfect restriction. By having the small fills I knew exactly when I was overfilled and what was perfect. By not being in such a rush I think it has helped me maintain my size 6 for seven years. Also maybe that is why I haven't had any issues with the band. I took the time for my body and mind to get used to the change. This is what worked for me. Good luck.

I agree with most of you
    1. People should read up on the "foreign object" you are putting in your body and should be aware of the pro/cons of getting any type of WLS and any possible complications. For me I debated 2 years on which surgery I wanted I decided on lap-band but I didn't expect half the crap I deal with now. Constantly cold to the point where I was diagnosed with Raynauds phenomenon. My throat closing up when my sinuses get infected. Not being able to eat when I'm pissed off. Losing so much weight that my tailbone hurts when i sit. Low blood pressure to the point where i'm constantly dizzy. Port pain because it rubs against my desk at work. Port pain while having sex (TMI oops) That was not listed on anything I researched.
    2. Yes a lot of the questions on this forum are repeated almost everyday but who has time to go through all the topics and find one that best matches what you want to ask. Its easier to ask the freaken question. There are quite a few people who post on almost every thread. Who has time for that? I'm all for helping people who need advice but I'm not going to live on this forum. What gets me are those who are quick to offer advice when they haven't been banded long or banded at all
    3. There are a few know it alls on this forum that appear to look down at certain people for being human and make mistakes. I eat bread. I eat Cookies. I freaken love donuts. Do I eat them everyday? Of course not duh that's what made me fat to begin with. I've managed to lose over 80lbs in 11 months with NO FILLs. Could I have lost more? Hell yeah. I gained 15lbs and have since lost 10 of those lbs. Who's at fault? ME!!! I don't need people to scold me or tap my hand and say what I'm doing is bad. Usually when I choose to post on here it's because I'm looking to speak to someone who is banded and can relate to the issues I have. None of my close friends or family are banded so I can't get advice from them.
I rarely get on this forum now. I'm happy I've met people on this forum that became friends. I can text them and complain to them about being hungry or wanting chocolate without being judged.

Kinda hard to ignore when it's the same catty people on every thread, every day. How about u ignore the repetitive questions that annoy you instead?
I have numerous questions I'd like to ask but I rarely do, because I sit there and think, "who's gonna criticize this?" And now apparently I have to also think "has this question been asked before?".
Here's a heads up from miss Cleo on da free psychic line.... Dem people be askin yuh dos questions again tomorrow child.
This is a Lapband forum and the questions will always be, what can I eat post op, how come I can eat more than a cup, how do I get rid of gas pains, is anyone else constipated, can I drink pop,etc......if this bothers you, you're on the wrong forum

I do think that there are some members who are quick losers who look down their noses at those of us who are slow losers.
As mentioned above by another poster I also follow the band rules and exercise 7 days a week. I don't drink I don't buy candy. But in general I'm a slow loser and am currently at a plateau. I finally made an appointment with an oncologist to discuss possible thyroid problems as recommended by my weight loss doctor.
Some people on this site do project an attitude that if you aren't losing at the rate they're losing then you clearly are a cheater and lazy.
I did a lot of research before my surgery and I don't think the band is failing me. In fact I think I have a genetic problem.
I just think some people on this site should consider the tone of their posts.

I'm sorry, but I just need to say it. Some of you really annoy the piss out of me. The reason for the forum is so people can vent and ask questions.
Not so long ago all of you were fat, and I wonder how many times you all heard " well it's common sense dear, if u want to lose weight just exercise and eat better!".... Did you all follow that common sense, and very true advice? No, you didn't! Do u want people judging you because you didn't heed that advice and instead got a foreign object In your body?
If the band works quicker for you, that's great! But some people including myself are going to lose slower. I also know some of you have the band with plication..... Now did you ever stop to think its probably physically easier for you to follow the rules?
I for one, know I get hungry almost every damn day and have to make myself not cheat. Maybe its because my band isn't full enough? At least thats what im hoping for. I also know I wake up 6-7 days a week and exercise my ass off for at LEAST 1 hour and my weight loss is disgustingly slow. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way, and would like to ask others if their experience is similar and what I can do, but hey that'll annoy you right? My goodness, you've just heard it sooo many times before!

I don't agree. Behaviors we are trying to avoid are binge eating, eating mindlessly, overheating, head hunger, emotional eating etc. normal weight people eat pizza and burgers, they just don't do it all of the time. I had half a slice of pizza tonight and a salad for dinner. I'm carb cycling right now. Yes make healthy choices most of the time and sometimes have a chocolate or a slice of pizza or a martini! It's rediculous to think that someone will never eat another "bad" food Again.
Happy bday to your son. Enjoy it!

I had a slice of pizza with my family last week, I didn't feel bad, I enjoyed it and counted it into my daily food portions and I still lost last week. In the past I would have inhaled the whole pizza but I enjoyed one very small piece and left it at that. That's what the band allows us to do now, eat much smaller amounts. Sure you can't have pizza everyday and expect to loose but every now and again is fine.

Sheesh, you would have thought you had a whole pizza... It was only one slice right? Mark it down and count the calories and move on. I usually can't eat the bread part, so I usually just eat the topping off of one slice ... Yum!!

I did lose 20 lbs before surgery. 10 after. I have since put back on all but 5. I admit it it is ALL my own doing. In October 2012 I had surgery to replace a hardware malfunction with the port. I am getting back on track now. Band is in place with 5cc's. I start feeling hunger about 3 hrs after I eat a well planned meal. The band is doing its job. . I hope 2013 is my time to lose.
