I went back to work after 2 weeks post surgery. I just stuck with Protein Shakes, yogurt, Soup, etc...Oh and sipped Water all day. It was really hard, I was tired and achey, my tummy still felt tender, I couldn't hardly eat, etc...but my doctor said it was normal and I was still healing. I would definitely talk to your doctor, but for sure just give your self time to heal. Even though the band is less invasive, it is still major surgery....give your self the time...your journey has just begun.

That is good to hear. Banded 9-10 and I'm "done "with Protein Shakes. I need to remember that soon this phase of the process will just be a glimmer of whole amazing journey. I'm down 7lbs since surgery and 24 since the start of this journey. I want to embrace this with joy, but am I the only one who is reluctant to do so?

It's very comforting to know that I am not alone in doubting my decision. I'm 4 days post op and just feel drained from the liquid diet. Just this morning I was thinking how much easiery life would be today without the band. But I'm gonna keep on truckin. It's good to hear from u guys that it does get better.

Well, while the Voltaren is absorbed some into your system, it is still less than oral NSAIDS. Best bet is just to run it by your doctor to be sure. If he would like you to stop it, I use Arnica gel. I don't believe it has that same effect, of course it doesn't work quite as well either haha! Then there's also stuff like icy hot in a pinch. Or ask your doc about trying Lidoderm Patches if you haven't already tried those. Seems they work better on knees than other areas, so it may be helpful for you.
    Good luck!

I just finished Week 1 with one more week to go before surgery. I have heard that after surgery you won't even want food for a few days.....so.....I just keep thinking about that every time I think I am going to lose my mind. lol

I have a glass (sometimes2) glasses of red wine a night and I have been losing weight at an awesome pace.
I love the fact that it fits right into my daily caloric intake and I couldn't be happier with my weightloss. I have not had to give up anything I love, and that's why I LOVE MY BAND!!!

I too am an RN on busy tele unit. With all of the responses looks we might have found a new group to relate too. I am having surgery on Aug 27th. Will be taking about 2 weeks off. I think I can find other nurses to "lift" for me. God knows I have done enough lifting for our "expecting" co-workers. Any body else having surgery soon? BTW i am in california. Anybody on west coast?? NURSES do rock!

Yeah! I had to do 2 weeks pre-op liquid diet so I know it isn't fun but it is only a week and before you know it you will be back on Protein Shakes but on the other side of the surgery! Good luck to you!
