Mexicali Here I Come
You'll be in great hands. I had Dr Aceves and the staff made me feel so comfortable and safe. I was so nervous but once I met them all my fears disappeared. And there was no pain at all. I went to the pharmacy across the street the day before I left to get another box on pantazol (anti-reflux). They give you one box but the grains were so much easier to take than the pills I was glad I had it. I also got an extra box of supradol (pain pill) but I never used them. They dissolve in your mouth but I really didn't have any pain to take them for.

What Do I Need To Bring With Me?
I was mostly puffy in the abdomen but when I put on the bra the pressure around my ribs was unbearable. I felt like I couldn't breathe. If there's room in that area your bra now, you should be fine. My bra was comfortable, but not too snug and there was no room for the gas. I'm guessing I wish I had 1/2 inch more room around the rib case.

What Do I Need To Bring With Me?
I thought of something else: I wore my super-comfy bandau bra because it doesn't have underwire but after surgery I was so puffy I couldn't wear it. I had to go bra-less until I went home. Fortunately I was able to get it on that day and still breathe. I wish I had brought one in a larger size.

Was Anyone Not Put On Pre Op Diet?
I did not have a pre-op diet as my bmi was under 40. I did use the week before to detox off sugar and carbs and drink alot more water.

What Do I Need To Bring With Me?
The electronics work there, no problem. I should ass, I wish I had brought a hair dryer. Didn't even think of it until I took my first shower and got to wash my hair (YAY!). I brought shampoo & conditioner, but no hairdryer so I had clean but scraggly hair for two days.

What Do I Need To Bring With Me?
In this forum , there's a thread for Dr Aceves patients that has great info for what to bring, I found my gas-x at Walmart. I recommend a heating pad. It was my bff on day 2 when I couldn't get the gas to move in either direction

Protein Question-5 Days Post-Op
Thanks. My surgeon has a really strict after program of clears for 10 days (15 for me cause I had a hernia). When I shook the Chike it didn't look clear. I will stick with the broth with added protein and toss the Chike for now. Thanks for answering!

Protein Question-5 Days Post-Op
I am 5 days post op and I know I'm not getting enough protein in. I'm adding a spoonful of unflavored protein to my 4 oz of broth a couple of times a day, but that's not even a packet. I made a Chike protein shake and put it in the freezer to chill. Is that ok? If not, are there any protein drinks I can drink? The Isopure is gross but I'll drink it if I have to.

Day 3 Post Op: My Nurses Got Me In Trouble!
I was given apple juice as soon as I was started on liquids. It was delivered every day with my tea and crystal lite drink. It only tasted good to me if it was poured over ice.

What Did You Guys Wear?
Yeah, it's weird that my waist/belly button area is 2 inches smaller around, but I can barely button my pants :-)

Dr Aceves
^Exactly what teddybear said!^ I work in hospitals for a living, and I have never seen any of them have staff who cleans all day and night. You could eat off those floors! Well, your companion could The staff were so nice and helpful. When I had nausea so bad I was retching into a trash can (very clean btw) the night nurse sat right beside me patting my back and talking to me until the nausea meds kicked in. My surgeons and anesthesiologist came by daily afterward to say hi and check on me. I have had 3 prior surgeries and never saw the surgeons after the surgery. When Frances and I wanted to go to the pharmacy across the street, one of the nurses insisted on coming with us to help us cross the street. It's like New York traffic; cars stop for no one. He is more expensive, but in my opinion, worth every single penny.

Does Anyone Go Back And Forth With Doubts?
I felt like this too. I just had surgery last Friday. One minute I was excited, the next I felt I was going to vomit. In my case, I did the one step at a time, and tried not to think aboout it too much. I know, easier said than done. But it really helped. For the last few weeks, I just focused on what I needed to do, enjoyed my last meals, and kept thinking about Thanksgiving, where for the first time EVER, I won't feel like everyone is looking at me and noticing how much weight I've gained since last thanksgiving when I saw them. I pinned workouts, clothes, and inspirational quotes on my Pinterest boards. Oh, and buying clothes a couple weeks before for a pre-planned cruise cemented my decision. I went home from my usual places like Kohls and Ross in tears several times cause I was too fat for the clothes I want to wear. I sucked it up and bought some clothes in my size, (ugh!) but decided that was the last time I'd cry because I was too fat for average size clothes. All I can suggest is every time you think of a reason to have the surgery, write it down, and pull out the list when you have doubts. In my case there were so, so many reasons to have it than not to.
