  1. Thanks ! It did pass!
  2. I've started a new job and I've been stressed. For me, stress=bad eating. I've eaten too fast and too much and I make myself miserable. Please help me get through this! Sent from my DROID X2 using VST
  3. True...I never can drink all that in one sitting...but if you drink it throughout the day, you'll be sure to meet your protein intake! Sent from my DROID X2 using VST
  4. I like the Cookies and cream...I'm a milk fanatic so I put one scoop to like 10 oz and drink on it...I like of a little diluted with milk... Sent from my DROID X2 using VST

I appreciate this! I find it funny that those of us who had a problem with eating massive amounts of food are now slowing turning into health junkies! I crave cold water and fresh fruit instead of coke and cheeseburgers. Go figure! Our bodies are going through such rapid change that our brains are put into overload. We will all find a happy medium and be able to keep our mouths shut for those people who once did the same for us when we ate too much. However, I think I may be the one to speak up gently because I refuse to allow anyone to have to go through what I've been through physically and emotionally!!
  6. If it's a uniform procedure, your stomach is pulled out of the lower left incision and requires more pulling and tugging and muscle strain. A suture is used. It's probably just muscle strain. I had a point where it hurt to move at all and I thought I had a hernia. The surgeon then reassured me that it wasn't and told me what it was from. I would just make sure to go in to get checked if it gets worse and not better.
  7. This is what I've had to do (but in no particular order...just the order I did them) Physical and Pap Smear from PCP with clearance for surgery (you may need a mammogram if over a certain age and I think it's dependent on your insurance and doctor) Lab work drawn Seminar with the surgeon Nutrition Consult Psych Evaluation First appointment with surgeon Endoscopy Final PreOP appt It took a lot of coordinating and nagging on my part to make sure everything was sent to the surgeon's office in a timely fashion. You'll have to pay for all appointments if they require a co-pay but I'm not sure what they mean by everything after the Psych...you might want to call them back and see if there's a certain order you have to go in.
  8. Cost has always been an issue for me and even though I like some of the other brands, this brand is only $15 at Walmart for a tub. Two scoops = 52 g protein so add skim milk to it and you have over 60 g of protein to one shake! It's not too bad either and has less than 4 g carbs and sugar.
  9. No problems but I don't get them often. They are really expensive and I don't have the patience to order online! haha There are a few convenient stores that sell them but the cheapest I've found them were $3.00 each. That's great that they sent you another case without issue! Sometimes that alone is worth getting them.

  12. How many calories should I be getting or should I be focusing more on my Protein intake? I'm almost 7 weeks post op... Sent from my DROID X2 using VST

I would recommend calling your surgeon and asking how much you should be eating at a time. My surgeon and nutritionist said that once I'm able to eat a regular diet, I will eat only 3 oz total if I can stomach it. That's 2 oz of protein and 1 oz of fruit or veggies with it and eat the protein first. I would't eat the 5 oz?? We have a different relationship with food now. I wouldn't say to completely ignore cravings but really try to determine what could be causing you to get the urge to eat like that. Are you stressed? Your levels may be off too if you're feeling like that or could be because you aren't eating well like you suggested. Make sure you're getting enough protein in your diet. Keep your head up!
  14. Of course you can! If you want it, you'll do it! I think you're definitely on the right track! What kind of exercise are you doing? What kind of diet?

    Great work!
  16. I was scared about having this happen but I was told that as long as I followed the diet plan, I would never get too skinny. I guess it can happen. I would consult your doctor about it for sure because you don't want to go the unhealthy route.
  17. The before pics were empowering for me! I knew that my body was going to change for the better and that I would never look like that again. I did mine fully clothed but I still wanted them so I could look back and see what I was and what I've become. You will be glad you took them but cant let yourself get upset about where you put yourself. It is time for you to focus on your future of being healthy!
  18. I agree with the water weight. We bloat up badly during that time and we just have to keep it flushed!
  19. Oh man!! I'm so sorry to hear this! I had a blood clot in my leg when I was pregnant with my son a little over 4 years ago. They still let me have the surgery so maybe down the road if this is still an option you will be able to do it? I am glad they caught it and you are doing okay! Is it a blood disorder or caused by weight? Mine was pregnancy and weight related...
  20. Have you introduced any new foods lately? I'm not sure...I'd discuss it with your surgeon though!
  21. I feel hunger? I am 5 weeks post op....
  22. Everyone is different. BUT it will take a full 6-8 weeks to feel 100%. I went back to work at almost 3 weeks post-op but I felt absolutely miserable. I was so tired for that first week back and I too have a desk job. Just be careful and get your doctor to write that you need to take frequent breaks. I regret going back to work when I did. I felt okay and had energy but I just wasn't ready. Good luck to you!
