Entering Biggest Loser Contest at Gym be cheating?
They actually had 'auditions' somewhere near where I was getting banded, and I joked about going over there. I wouldn't want my trials/tribulations with weight loss on TV, but if they don't say anything about weight loss surgeries, I don't think it's cheating.

It Bugs the Crap Out of Me When People do This!!
Uhm... no it doesn't bother me.. and I am self-pay too. I would be annoyed if someone said "Can you donate money to help me" or something similar.... but ranting about not having the funds, well.. feels better to get it off your chest, yea? I like to bitch about my crappy insurance which is horribly expensive--and about to triple for me in a couple months, and they don't even cover this stuff.. Bastards.

New to LBT, banded in 07/2006.
Welcome to LBT, glad you found us. I think having a good support group has been important for my weight loss.. Have you gone to the doc for a fluero to see if you have stretched the pouch? Here's a 5-day pouch test some people I know use to reshrink/get back in the game... Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test

Heartburn/overfilled
I was too tight right from the beginning, so I had a small unfill. Since then I've gone from too open, to too tight, in a matter of a day and I just go with it. Due to this, I have gained 44lbs so far (Waaah). I've tried watching what I eat, and exercising more, but my body is pretty reluctant to lose any weight right now.. 44lb gain is with some plateaus (i've been on one for a couple weeks now thank goodness), and I'm just having to deal with it. But, I am getting my fill back as soon as I have my baby and I'm confident I'll lose it all again. Even on too open days, heartburn is killer for me. I had chronic heartburn pre-band days, then heartburn went away after losing about 60-80lbs.. now it's back and I can't take my beloved prilosec I live on Zantacs (which I don't think work very well) and Tums (ditto). It's not band related heartburn like being too tight, it's just part of being pregnant.

Shrinkin' Violets Part 3 Read HERE!
I was up at 3am, this stupid nose allergy whatever this is thing. Strikes really bad in the middle of the night, I go through a box of tissues. and it itches SO BAD.. it wouldn't stop last night so I got up and got on the computer, read some forums. Finally got back to sleep around 5:45. Connor is actually a name I liked (middle school crush was named Connor) but Russ didn't like it Russ has lost 10lbs so far doing Atkins. I have plateaud (WHEW) again on my weight gain. I go back to the doc tomorrow, she has me coming in every 2 weeks now. Hope you're getting some good news Kat! I keep meaning to say WOOWOO Pam on all that you've done on the diss :cursing: Hope everyone else has a good day. BLEH Mondays  OH and Terry, I plan to take maternity leave for as long as I need to 2-6 weeks, and then I have a secretary office connected to my office that I am going to have Carson in (bought a portable crib for in there). I'll probably work half-days, or whole days depending on his temperment, etc. I am paid commission, and 99% of my customers communicate via e-mail, so I shouldn't miss too much with my blackberry and computer at home.

Anyone notice Post Banders are a bit snobbish?
Wasn't going to respond to OP since it was a 'joke', but after seeing some responses, and knowing this topic has come up before I felt like speaking up! My quick response to this perception is this--- When you're new to banding, and new to the forum you're extremely gung-ho and all over the place. You post all over, repeat the same questions the new bander before you did, etc. You can't wait to help someone as you discover something (You were just asking about fills, now your first fill is here, the newer bander just asked about fills, you're more than happy to help!). The gung-ho wears off, and you settle into a groove, you've met some people from the forum (some of us lucky enough to meet RL!!) and for some of us, it monopolizes most of our time- monthly groups, or R&R, etc.. I don't have questions about fills anymore, so I rarely go to fills area. Likewise to a lot of different areas on the forum. That's kind of like someone saying (to a new bandster) that they are snobbish because they don't go to all the "Local" forums of every location and talk to people. It's just not where you end up. If I have a lot of free time I will wander to areas that have nothing for me information wise, to try to help others out if I can. I don't subscribe to threads, so I don't often see a response or follow up question. I may stumble across the thread again at some point, but by then it's been months since the thread was active and no need to even post again. There's so many different personalities on the forum, and even more so the people who have a strong 'internet' personality.. newbies or oldies alike, can become confrontational, annoying, snobbish, overbearing, etc. I don't think clumping any group together is fair. The world takes all kinds of people!

So tired.. as you can see!! We went to the mall, he wanted me to pick out my v'day present--a necklace. He wanted something to match the sapphire earrings he got me one year, and sapphire bracelet I got last year. Can't tell from any pics I took, but they are sapphires! Cleaned and cooked, and now I'm about to pass out. Ah.. being pregnant. Speakin' of which, saw a couple drops of colostrum tonight.. that was bizarre.

Octuplets and SIX other children??!!!
I haven't read every page.. Has it been brought up how she gets disability, but she plans to go back to work when she gets her degree? Like her "disability" in any way correlates with her education. We should all be so lucky to claim "disability" to pay for our way of life until we get our degree. Especially if that way of life involves 14 kids. Right? RIGHT?!

I think they are splenda, not malitol.. but DH is not a sweet eater, so one bag of like 8 candies lasts him a month.

Yeah that girl has had lips done at the very least, and I saw her website today asking for money donations and you can send her 'items'. I am just all kinds of mad. The website also hasa place to submit 'comments'.. I was tempted to write something nasty, then realized there's plenty of others who will do it for me. It also baffles the mind, how she says one day when she graduates college--she plans to go back to work. Until then, she's disabled.. right. Wish we could all claim disability and get the state to pay for our lives, fertility treatments, and babies.. while we work on getting a degree. Argh ok, don't want to think about this before bed.. Night V's!!!

OMG, how freaking sensible is this?
Yeah that's interesting..I've never counted bites, so no perception of it, but I would think a non-banded person this would not be enough food..or they'd take extra large bites which would defeat the purpose right? Hm.. let me know how it goes

Band isn't what I thought it would be
Sorry that it's not working for you, and unfortunately it just isn't for everyone  I was afraid of RnY, and I decided I would do the band as a first resort (last resort against dieting) for surgeries.. if it didn't work, I was going to move on to something else. Some people it never fits right (what you explained was me when I am too loose--and when I am too tight). For you to have both instances at once, it just sounds like the band isn't working for you the way it "should". It would be nice if they had a way of testing how a band will work with someone before they get it, so these things don't happen.

Anyone been punched where their port is?
I haven't, but the effects could be pretty bad! It could rip the stitches and port pops loose, it could pop the port off of the tubing (rendering it useless), or cause internal bleeding if it gets shoved into something. These are just some things that come to mind. At the minimum, it would be very painful :/ I'd recommend avoiding this.. obviously.

Oh Jane reminded me of something I did for cat puke.. when she did lime green puke all over our white carpet when we were out of town.. I found something online, said to sprinkle salt on it, and then cover it with a damp paper towel, leave it for a couple of hours. it did work, the salt soaks it up. Litter sounds like it would work too, but salt didn't leave a kitty litter smell :/

Oh I read it. I was thinking, damn she just ruined her car.. then I thought, I can't let that happen! ACK. Not going to think about it  I hate our vending machines at work, you put money in, the item you want won't come out or is sold out but it didn't tell you.. but then it won't give you your money back, so you gotta buy something you don't want. It's pissin me off! I have a love for astronaut ice cream.. ya'll ever had it? The space center down the road sells it, but it's like $4 a pack and 1 pack is a snack. I bought a 10-pack online, they are only 120 calorie each, so it's like a 100 calorie pack, except one of my favorite foods. Never thought it'd be so low calorie, yum yum. So I have been snacking on them all week.. I just re-ordered a 24-pack to keep in my office. They also have protein! Today is employee meeting, they are serving pizza.. so I got a chicken salad from Cracker Barrell last night to bring in today. Had to get my blood drawn this morning, it's so hit and miss at those places around here. I went last week and there was a room full of people so I left. Today I go--I was only person there! Yay! Hope you all have a better day today, we're past hump day!

When is support not really support?
Attack the ideas, not the person ya'll! And attack is so harsh, how about 'gently nudge' the idea? K, thanks! Back on topic before I get my ruler...

I can't wait to hold him, I keep hoping I'll have my eye on the prize during all of the childbirthing part! LJM said something about how she can't stop watching him, and I think I'll be the same way. I want to see him so bad!! Wah. Another friend of mine said it's surprising how possessive you become, she said she had a hard time letting her parents take her son for a couple of hours in the beginning, she wanted to be with him the whole time. I can see that already! Especially now that his movements are during the day, I have a constant reminder.. AND I can no longer bend comfortably, and can't pick things up if I drop them--so of course I drop a lot of stuff lately. I feel pressure in spots and I can touch my skin and feel him right under there (right under my boob mostly)and if I push even lightly I can feel him slide and move away from my touch. So neat. I made the quail last night.. turned out to be a bust, it did taste good but little birds was a big turn off. Russ doesn't like meat on bones (chicken or otherwise), but was willing to try it.. but I ate a piece--it was good--but I couldn't get over the little bird factor.. so we had hotdogs & asparagus instead.
