  1. Everyone's fill to the green zone is different. Some need very little and some need a lot. I'm not there yet, so I can't tell you how much for me. You can get stuck at anytime during your lap band journey, if you're taking too big a bite, not chewing enough, eating to much. Do you see yourself doing any of these things? Sometimes a certain food just can't be tolerated anymore, so keep note on what your eating when getting stuck, if none of the other things are causing your problems. Hope you can figure this out and good luck!
  2. All Drs are different, some fill, some don't. I didn't get my first fill until 6wks out and I got 3cc and hopefully another fill tomorrow, which he said would be 2cc. As far as gaining weight right now, you are in your healing stage until 6wks out and you shouldn't worry about any weight loss. Just follow your Drs orders and you will be fine. When you go from nearly starving diet to eating real food again your body is going to try to hold on to those calories, but hang in there it will all even out. Best wishes on both of your journey's!
  3. The band will work for you, if you work the band. It's not a magic device that weight automatically starts falling off. In most cases until you have enough fills and reach the green zone, it's just another diet. It will be up to you to follow your Drs. orders and stick to the diet they give you. I'm 3mths out and not in the green zone yet. I've had one fill of 3cc in a 10cc band. So it's been up to me to stick to the rules and by doing so I have continued to lose weight. Dr promises me that soon the band will make things easier for me, but until then it's all me. I know that doesn't sound like fun, but that's how it is, unless you are a lucky one and need no fills. You just need to educate your friends on how the band works. It is not "the easy way out" as some tend to believe. So educate yourself and then educate them. I wish you all the best on your journey!
  4. I don't believe in willpower, I believe in wantpower and you sound like you want it, so go get it. Every time you go to eat something unhealthy, ask yourself, will this get me what I want? I have bins of clothes in my closet from size 24-14, been a yoyo dieter for 40 yrs. Now working my way through those clothes. I've lost 100 lbs before and gained it back and felt exactly like you do right now. Before getting banded I was to the point I couldn't make it through a store. For the last 3 yrs have bought all Christmas gifts from a catalog, can't play with my granchildren, I need knee replacement but Dr wants me to wait until I'm 60 yo that's 4 more years. I decided I couldn't live like this anymore. I had no life, I just was. So I know what you're saying. I WANT my life back!!!
  5. Being to tight can stall your weight loss, you might want to rethink that. Right now, take small bites, chew, chew chew, you remember and see how that goes. We're here for you! It's really sounds like you have this figured out. You know what you're doing wrong. We can't make you stop that, only you can. But we are here to support you and tell you we believe in you.
  6. You're not cheating your band sweetie, you're cheating you. You deserve to be healthy, happy and running around with that little one. We all have felt discussed with ourselves for letting obesity take over us. But we deserve a life too. You are worth the effort! Start thinking positive, start telling yourself "I can do this", "I did it before and I can do it again". Like Nike, Just do it!
  7. No diet for me either. Like Missy said, just follow your Drs orders and don't feel guilty. Best wishes Thursday!
  8. Do you eat your 3-4 oz of protein first? Stick to 1 cup for total meal, one bite and wait one minute and be done in 20mins whether plate is empty or not? I'd try an save money to see Dr to make sure the band is where it's suppose to be. Right now I only have 3cc in my 10cc band and am not in the green zone, so everything I lose right now is from my want power. It's just another diet for now. I believe if you want it bad enough, you will do it. I wish you all the luck in reclaiming your health!
  9. MsRhonda have your dietician set up a diet program just for you. My Nutritionist has me on 1000-1200 calories a day, which I'm to have 60grams of Protein a day. I'm suppose to eat 3 meals a day and eat my protein first and if there's any room left have 1/4 to 1/2 of veggies & 1/4 good carbs (fruit, whole grain bread or crackers or veggie). So each meal is to have over 15 grams of protein. My Fitness Pal is an excellent way to track your calories and protein. You can use it on your phone or home computer. No trying to figure how many grams you've had the app does it for you. It's a fact that more ppl lose weight when they track. Good luck to you!
  10. Peaceful, weren't you just banded not that long ago? If that is correct, you really do want to follow your nutritionist advice. You're just getting started. The ppl using the carb cycling have been banded for a while and have lost a lot of weight and they are using it to break plateau's. It's really not right for you right now.j/s
  11. Sorry your having a hard time, but the good new is you still have your band and it can still work with you. First thing I would do is make appt. with Dr and see if you need a fill, then talk with a nutritionist so they can help you with your lifestyle. But for right know, I would go back to the beginning, when you were first banded and follow the LB rules you used then. Get your 64 oz of fluids in, eat protein first at every meal, log your food. I use MyFitnessPal on my phone and computer. I try to stay between 1000-1200 calories, but a Nut. would work that out for you. Packing meals, of course your fluids for the day, tuna now comes in little snack size packs, or pre make tuna or chicken salad and get an insulated bag or cooler to travel with, String cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt a good between meal snack. There's a lot of things you can do. It's all about planning ahead. Good luck and welcome back to the banded side! You can do this!
  12. It's things with no nutritional value but high in calories. Things like alcohol, Cookies, pies, cakes, chips and crap like that. When I think of all the soda's that are sold each day and all that money spent on them and the calories and absolutely no nutritional value at all, none.
  13. BTW not in green zone. 3cc in band and possible port revision in future.
  14. I'm suppose to hit 60gr per day and between 1000-1200cal I got a cheap scale at Bed Bath &Beyond for $12, works fine. The size of a deck of cards is what I go by when I'm out.
  15. I think by "repeat" means kept burping the taste of it up. I don't know where that phrase comes from, but I've heard it all my life.lol That's what Omega 3 Fish Oil tablets do to me, it's gross
  16. This just happened to me Thursday at my 2nd fill, 10 punctures and much pushing and prying, plus Dr has me lay on table and hold feet up about 6 inches off table. All I got was sore abs and port site, no fill and an appt Monday for Fluro and I hope and pray no revision surgery. My port was also stitched down so we don't know what happened. Hoping for the best Monday!
  17. I agree! Own it, count it and move on. And do not skip eating tomorrow. Eat your 3 meals and count your calories and Protein grams.
  18. When I was in the hospital nurse told me to sniff rubbing alcohol and put an ice cold cloth on my chest and that helped.
  19. I was wondering where you had been. Glad it was b/c of celebrating and not something tragic. Welcome back, we missed you. Happy Belated 50th Birthday too! Did you know 50 is the new 40? Menopause sucks, I went through 5yrs of it and then it was gone for a year and just recently the hot flashes started again. I have no doubt that you will get back into your clothes. When I was just hanging here waiting to be banded, you gave excellent advice and I thank you for that. Been banded 3mths now and yes, believing the band will always be working.lol
  20. PB= productive burp, like a baby spitting up
  21. When I know I'm going to be out all day, I make sure I have all the water I need or a place to get water while I'm out. If you are nauseous from dehydration, you could end up in the ER. Not trying to scare you, but it is that important.
  22. You have a lot of swelling right now and that is probably what you're feeling. If NP said it was ok, that must be the reason. This will not last too long. Hang in there!
  23. I'm thinking more on this line too.
  24. Thank you Grammy! You haven't done to bad yourself
  25. At Sarasota Memorial they check you in , put you in your own room where you put on gown and climb in bed, nurse comes in and ask a lot of questions and hooks you up to IV. Before you go back for surgery Surgeon & anesthigiologist(?) comes in and talks with you and then I was given something to relax me. Roll you back to surgery suite and lots of ppl are getting you hooked up to EKG, B/P cuff and all that good stuff. Anesthigiologist will say nite, nite and next thing you know they're saying wake up in recovery. You will have some pain , but they were real good about keeping it under control. I had to stay the night b/c my surgery was late in the afternoon , so after recovery went to my room. Best thing you can do for yourself is get up and walk as much and as often as you can. Good luck!
