Port location
My port took almost the whole 6wks to return back to normal. Not painful, just tender. Thought that was how I was going to live the rest of my life with my band. The large incision is where the port is, but everyone's is in a different spot.

I'm not to my goal weight yet but bought my first pair of 22's capri's today, woohoo
LOL, thats great Donna! I think that even though I don't need any new clothes, I should go into stores and just try things on, just because I can and it does make you feel good. I remember the days of having to try things on and not wanting to, knowing you were just going to leave in tears. Get NSV! Keep it up!

Your pre-op?
I was lucky, I didn't have one. I had been dieting before hand and lost 20 lbs, so it was just keep doing what I was doing. My Dr did make others do the 2wk liquid diet. So his decision was different from patient to patient.

ancestry.com
I think they give you 30days free and then you're so deep into it, you pay. I think it was around $125.00 for 6mths.

ancestry.com
Paula bought 6mths of it and went way back in our family. It was quite interesting. You have to be committed to put in a lot of time and effort. I now have a cousin in England on my FB, that we didn't know before.

So Embarrassed
I imagine being away from your Dr and being in college, where everyone else is partying and eating what they want, must be very difficult. You know what you gotta do and we're right behind you. CG is right, you are not defined by your weight. Its whats in your heart. They will love you for you, not what you look like. If they don't, they're not worth your time anyways. You can do this!

Eating

Eating
Talk with your Dr or Nut. and see what they say. Really don't know what your nutritional values shoukd be right now, but they should know.

Am i eating/drinking enough??
I concur with missy, walk, walk, walk. I think I was told to drink 1oz every 15mins, so that means sip, sip, sip. You are still swollen from surgery, so it can be tough. You'll start feeling better every day. Good Luck!

name one thing..
When my 8yo grandson gave me a hug and said" my arms go all the way around you ,grandma. You really look good." I wanted to be here for my grandkids. I'm here. This summer grandma taking them to the beach, now I can walk from the parking lot to the beach.

My experience is valid!
I've read up on your condition, msmaui and I'm very, very sorry for you. 2000 ppl annually get what you have and the reports don't show one thing about those being banded. Also, out of all the reports I read, I did not find one thing about hiatal hernia repair being a cause of it. Matter of fact, when it came to LBS and esophageal immobility (achalasia), most the time they say either patient already had it, b/c it can take years to develop , or patient compliance with the LB ( not my words, theirs). So to bash LBS or call for expensive test b/c of a less than 1% chance, is like getting rid of every drug on the market b/c of their side effects. Like I said, I'm sorry you have a problem and I hope its taken care of. But constant LB bashing is just not right. Maybe you can save 1 person this problem, but how many can die an early death from morbid obesity b/c you scared them to DEATH? The odds for that I'm sure are a lot greater. Get treated. Achalasia can be treated. I'm wondering why your band has not already been removed and you treated? Your experience is valid, as far as achalasia! My grandaughter has a G & J tube, nothing to do with LB. We support what your going through.

No support
What Chez said, plus its your body, your health.Do what you feel is right. Are you obese? Have you failed every diet known to man? I am and I have, it was right for me. Good luck

All in the protein....pre-op
Hey, don't forget about me too. Protein is one of the most important aspects of WLS, along with lots and lots of Water. You will do great!
-
Fallen off wagon
I agree with Missy. You need to be eating solid Protein. In my experience, the more sugary foods I eat, the hungrier I get. If I stick to my protein, I do not crave sweets. Is there any chance in changing Drs?

Get Off The Scale!
You are absolutely correct. The scale doesn't reflect our worth! I know ppl who have that posted on their scale. This is what I weigh, but this does not define me.Yeah!

My mom, my biggest cheerleader, made me feel so alone tonight for the first time in this journey.
Great idea! I use to be a TOPs leader and it is great, cheap support. I only stopped b/c at the time I had two young children at home and meetings were at night. They do have meetings during the day in a lot of places.

My mom, my biggest cheerleader, made me feel so alone tonight for the first time in this journey.
Donna, I truly understand the knee pain. I'm currently awaiting knee replacement. I know some ppl here who have had the same knee problems as me and they are telling me once they hit 150 lbs, they no longer need surgery and they go to the gym and workout like crazy. I'm counting on that and trying to exercise the best I can, even if its just strolling around a store or park. Yea, it hurts, but it is getting better. I also believe that food addiction is just like any other addiction, but I also believe that no one can beat that addiction unless their soul catches up with their head. We can say we want to quit, but deep in our heart, we don't want to, we like the feelings we get from it and then get upset we fail and medicate it again with our addiction. A vicious cycle. The ones that beat their addiction are the ones that go cold turkey and thats how I am with my sweets, just don't touch them, period. I use to smoke and until I said no matter what my head wants, my heart says NO. With food its the same thing, my head is saying I need it, I want it, even though I'm saying I want to lose weight. When I have those feelings, I do find other things to do. It can be as simple as sitting outside and enjoying the beauty God has put in front of us. Its free! Our earth is an amazing thing. Get in touch with it. Birds, plants, animals, the sky moving across the universe, the sounds of nature. LOL, at night I even go check out the stars and night life. Its free 24-7! IMO, you need to get out of the house. Go to a park or bench outside of a store and tell anyone walking by "good morning", beautiful day isn't it or just a smile. You know you can really bless someone with just a smile and in turn bless yourself. Its free! I hope you don't take this as judgemental, I want to help you. Its just what I've found works for me. Give, it will be given unto you! You know mom means well and she wants to help you the best she can.lol just like me. Hence, the gym membership. It really wouldn't hurt to talk with a trainer and tell them your issues and see if they can work around them, before signing up. What have you got to loose. Gets you out of your house.

Bbq
You can bring your own stuff, or I just look for high Protein foods, chicken, burgers , vegtables and I do allow myself a tsp of whatever I want, just so I don't sit and crave it. Just a taste, not a meal.lol Its all about eating healthy portions and choices, not depriving ourselves. Also this is a time to learn that gatherings with friends and family are about being with friends and family, not about food.

Introduction (Per first message)
That is fantastic! Welcome to the forum. Will be watching for your success story. I was just at my drs yesterday, for a fill. I was telling him about my time on this board and he said " I'm really happy you are on the forum, support is very important in succeeding". Good Luck on your journey!

2 days post op and had my first adjustment
Can't say that I have. I hope things go well for you now. My Dr is very conservative and would not do any fills until I was 6wks post op. I do know a girl on here, who did have this same issue. I think her Dr had given her a 5cc fill at surgery. Some Drs want to get you to restriction right away, but with swelling from surgery,IMO, I don't think its fair to put you through u fills right aftef surgery. That has to hurt. Best wishes
