A Penis Has A Rough Life
Its a scientific fact that for every 20lbs you lose, you grow an inch longer. I get my facts from Dr Oz, btw.lol So turn that frown, upside down

To all those considering if the band is right for you, or you're banded but not sure if you made the right decision. I love my band

One week postop issues
My pain meds did cause nausea. Did you get any kind of fill, during surgery?

Two weeks post op!
2wks post op and running, wtg. One question, Has your dr ok'd running? I know they encourage walking, but I'm not sure on running. You're still healing. Reason I'm concerned is b/c I had a flipped port, that need revision at 3mths post op. If dr ok'd it, you go girl!

Question about fills
Every Dr handles this different, just like diets. I had no fill at time of surgery 3cc 6wks out, 1.5cc during revision surgery and .5cc 6wks after that. IMHO, getting smaller fills after major fills, is the way to go. You don't want to over shoot the green zone. My last fill, Dr tried 1cc and instantly couldn't drink Water and half was removed. Your Dr is the best one to make these choices, by what you tell them. So far, I have never heard of anyone being filled to the max and not having restriction. Love to hear if its possible.

Stomach upset?
I suggest you call your Dr's office. Your friend could be right and maybe Dr would approve trying Imodium, or something else. Best to run it by them. Good luck!

omg i got approved
Congratulations! Nerves and fears are just one of the phases of WLS. Try to think about being a new healthier you and not the "what ifs". Best thing I have ever done for myself!

One week postop issues
walk, walk, walk. Its the best thing to past that gas. Heating pad does help a little, but nothing better than walking.

Fluid build up around port ?
Yes, this is very normal. I really thought my port area was going to be sore for as long as I had my band, lol. Some good friends here, that was ahead of me, promised that it would go away and it did. It was sore up to 6wks post op, not take your breath away, but uncomfortable. At 2wks you still have a lot of swelling. Hang in there, I too promise "it will go away".

Confused, upset
protein, protein, protein and water, water, water Protein is whats goingmto keep you from chewing off your arm. Greek yogurt, creamed soups with greek yogurt added in(boost the protein). My fave was tomato with yogurt. Low fat ricotta cheese, cottage cheese and eggs are good in the protein dept. Really hungry, have a cup of hot decaf tea,my fave is Chai and diet hot chocolate a good go to. Right now it is mind over matter. You gotta make up your mind that you really want this and you're willing to suffer through the hunger. Do things to keep busy and your head busy. Clean closets, drawers, cabinets, whatever it takes to not sit around thinking of food. BTW. I'm 6 1/2 mths out and can still eat anything I want, just smaller portions, smaller bites and chewing it to mush. You can do this! Tell your mind to shut the hell up.lol

Stressed
I've had two before even considering getting banded. They are really no big deal. Also had a colonoscopy, which is no big deal either, other than prep.

someone you dont really know
Kabo one nice looking dawg. Does he know his name comes from a reference to Sammy H? Poor puppy.lol I have a neighbor just like that. I told hub before surgery not to tell her anything, b/c she's the type to get on the phone and tell everyone she knows. She is also very negative and would give me grief. She just came over last week, to find out where my husband was for the week(business trip) and she still said "no he's not, he was just on one", anyways she noticed I lost weight and wanted to know what I was doing. I said " eating better and taking care of myself". Just so happened I just finished mowing the whole yard and was still working in my garden when she came over. Did I tell you her name is Mrs. Kravitis, from Bewitched.

8 days post op and lapband hell!
Whenever I got hungry, I would grap another water or a diet hot chocolate. Hot chocolate has become a daily must have to me. You can do this, its mind over matter right now. Hang in there. You won't be sorry.
-
tell me about peanut butter
Yes, aj has us all addicted. When I can find it, I use PB2 in my greek yogurt or reduced fat PB. But PB and yogurt is a daily treat for me.

Kink in my tubing......
At my second fill, my port had totally flipped and I had to have revision surgery. That too, is rare, but it happened to me. It is discouraging, but its just a small bump in the road. Look at my ticker, couldn't be happier and you will be happy again soon. Hang in there!

Surgery tomorrow
Good Luck!

Lump
Definitely call your Dr. for all we know, they could have given you a fill during surgery and with the swelling ,is too much. Only they can tell you whats up. Good luck!

Im curious
Missy is absolutely right. I know of a few who have gone in only to have been sewn back up and sent home on a pre-op diet even longer than the first go round. My Dr. describes the liver as being like Jello, if it can't be moved out of the way, b/c its slipping and sliding, no surgery. I'm sure a few taste of things here or there did not do any damage, but it wasn't worth the risk for me. Watching the surgery on YouTube is quite interesting, seeing how the drs do this surgery with long instruments, looking at a tv screen. We certianly don't need to give them anymore challenges. Good Luck with your surgery!
