Izuri got a reaction from humnopnop in Sleeping On My Stomach
It took a good 1-2 weeks til I was even comfortable sleeping on my side. I don't sleep on my stomach a lot, but I would say that the first time I did after surgery was probably about 3 weeks out, and I don't think I really would have been comfortable before that.

I'm finding that I feel more like 26 than 46 these days and many of my "old" friends (both in age and duration of friendship) look at me like I have two heads when I suggest getting out and doing things. My energy level is extremely high these days. I feel like I'm "un-aging". I guess being fat conserved all of the energy I should have expended in my 20's and 30's. LOL

Let me preface this by saying that I have 1 true friend that has been there for me right or wrong & through thick an thin. The people I am talking about here are our more casual "friends".
I am finding that since my lifestyle has changed so dramatically that the people I use to hang out with aren't so appealing anymore. I am not interested in being one of the first people to review the new resturant. And when I talk about wanting to go rock climbing they look at me like I have 2 heads.
Finding new friends that have similar interests is my newest venture. I'm not trying to get rid of my old friends, but, let's be honest. I really don't have much in common with them any more.
I want so much more out of life now. I simply cand afford to to spend a lot of time with people whose high point for the week is a pizza and a 12pack. I'm not canceling them as friends, but I really do want/need more.
Has anybody else found this to be true?

Ok, first off - Deep breath! You had a major surgery and are going through some major changes right now, it's a hard process. Week 2 I was still using my pain medications some. Do you still have any left? Are you cleared to take liquid Tylenol? If so - make sure you are taking it every 6 hours or so to keep the pain away, sometimes you need to try to treat pain early before it gets to severe. When I'm working with patients I encourage them to not wait until they absolutely need their pain medication to take it, but to try and take it at regular intervals so that they aren't getting a large amount of rebound pain. Then, when you have it under control you can slowly start to taper down as your body is ready. If you have not been cleared for liquid Tylenol or your doctor has not prescribed a liquid pain reliever, call them! If you are having a ton of pain, they need to know about it.
Second - You are a week or a little over a week out. You are gonna have pain, you are gonna have to move slow, drinking is gonna be difficult. If at any point you are not getting at least half of your daily fluids down you need to let your doctor know. Dehydration is a big issue with this surgery early on and you don't wanna have to be rehospitalized. It is so frustrating to have to sip sip sip, I know! It drove me crazy some days. But it does get better. I know everyone says that and while it's going on it sure as heck doesn't feel like that, but it does. You will be able to drink regularly or near regularly again in a few months. Your stomach is swollen right now. This is a gross example, but the only one I can think of. Think of a pipe in your sink that is getting clogged, it lets less and less Water through - when your body is healing you have Fluid and different factors in your body that are creating your esophagus to swell, creating this narrow opening. You just cannot force more down than there's room for.
Get some rest and call your doctor if it worsens or continues. Try and remind yourself why you did this - bring out the before pictures, take your current measurements. Write a bunch of ranting journals in your blog (This really helps me =p), treat yourself to a movie on demand, suck on some ice chips instead of trying water, get moving around - getting your blood moving is a big factor in prevent blood clots and promoting healing, get enough rest, if you can't sleep, take some benadryl liquid. Hang in there, it WILL get better.

    I would tell her:

I THANK GOD everyday that I live in a world where I can have lasix surgery to improve my eyesight. (Permanent re-formation of cornea, can't be reversed)
I have had a few teeth removed, several moles and a growth removed from my nether regions which was causing me issues. Don't want anything back.
I have had friends have their tonsils, appendix, spleens, ovaries (and associated parts) removed when they aren't working for them anymore, and they are better for it. (Permanent removal of organs, don't want them back)
I have also had 85% of my stomach removed so I can have a tool to restrict my intake and help me lead a healthier life and be there for my family and friends.
I know God intended babies to come out the way they went in, but it is good to know these smart men and women are there to help with surgeries.
I also know these same smart men and women do surgeries for vanity purposes, and I am glad God put them here to help those who feel they need it.
What class of people do you think God would look down on more, those getting surgeries for vanity or those trying to improve the quality of their lives? My 2 cents

    - Go rock climbing
    - Skydive
    - Go to Cedar Point and be able to fit on the rides
    - Participate in a marathon
    - Buy jeans at a regular store instead of a plus size store

So today I was forced to buy my first pair of new pants. I'm 43 lbs down, and still walking around in my old "skinny pants" that are now falling off me. So I went to Wal-Mart (cause that's how I roll) and found several pair of pants, went to pay for them, and started putting them on the counter. It occured to me that I actually wasn't trying to hide the size when i put them up there. Pre-weight loss, I'd turn the pants over to make sure NOBODY could see what size it was because it was embarrassing. But tonight I was like, YEAH, THATS RIGHT! THOSE ARE 14's BABY....EVERYBODY SEE THAT?? 14's!!! YEP. 14 REGULAR, NOT PLUS> ANYBODY ELSE WANNA SEE?? CAUSE YOU CAN! CAUSE THEY'RE 14'S! Felt dang good.

I thought I would miss stuff a lot. There have been times when my brain has tricked me into thinking I do. The truth is that I really don't. I thought I wanted pizza for about six weeks. I finally decided I would try one piece a week or two ago and all it tasted like was greasy blah and made my stomach do turns. I loved candy pre-op. I used to eat a piece almost every day. I don't miss it and the further I get out from having it, the less I think about any of it. I still will allow myself treats here and there, but it's not as difficult as I thought it would be, at least not at this point.

I don't think a runny nose will postpone your surgery at all. If you were ill with a fever, maybe, but not if it's just a little bit of a cold.

We were eating at Hard Rock Cafe this last week in Seattle before a concert at the showbox ( imagining dragons- truly awesome). We wanted to eat on the roof and enjoy the beautiful weather as the sun set over Puget Sound. Without thinking, i took the 3 flights of stairs 2 at a time without stopping, going fast and felt nothing at the top except awesomeness. I was like, wow, I could not have done that before!
