Props on being able to leggo that eggo, girl! Funny how even when you were doing that, you still measured everything out like a good sleeved girl.

I was evil the first couple of months out from surgery. EVIL. I was angry at everyone and everything and the most basic of things set me OFF. My poor dog even bore the brunt of it once and he is my baby. I had to change my route to work for a month or so due to not being able to tolerate school zones (I am not kidding, the thought of them and/or driving thru them enraged me).
My doctor increased the anxiety meds to help even things out until my mind settled down. She wanted to put me on depression meds but I did not think that was necessary and fought to stay off of them. Hang in there, it will pass or at least get better.

Those that feel people with regrets post VSG should just fade into the woodwork are really doing everyone here a disservice. The 2% is just as important as the fabulous 98%, if not more so. Everyone's opinion is valid and important on this forum: positive, negative and everything in-between. .
Anyone researching a major surgery should want to hear about the success and failures, it is the only way to make a totally informed decision. Those that do not are living in a dream world and who knows, post-op that dream could turn into a nightmare and then you'll be the one being told to quiet down and think about the successful ones.

I appreciate the encouraging suggestions and truly helpful suggestions. However, this forum thread is a "would you do it again" and say why. I have found that if you do not embrace the WLS line one must be on the defensive from those that tend to belittle the poster. As I have posted, I knew what to expect and knew the risks. I thought an OPINION thread was to have BOTH sides represented. Guess I must have stepped on some toes with my posts.......although they weren't fat toes.

Update - I spoke with my surgeon today about the internist. He listened to what I had to say and seemed genuinely sorry that she has not been a positive support person for me. He did fill me in on her special training and that she is the best for her specialty. So, I said I would go to the next appointment and if she continued to be as rude and disrespectful to me, I would not be going back - fortunately, he supported my decision. The small victories sure feel good these days.

BUT... I HAVE asked co-workers if I could smell their fast food bag. I told them that I promised I wouldn't exhale my germs... just wanted a big ol' whiff of their burger and fries. I do that if someone brings in donuts too. Mmmmmm... sometimes the smell is really all I want.

I know surgery was the best option for me as my eating was out of control and I was at a top weight to prove it. On the other hand, the skin issues as one goes past the 100 lb pound loss point are no joke. Watching the pounds drop while my skin sags right along with it has been an eye opener. The fact that I will probably never have the funds for reconstructive plastic surgery is a very depressing realization.
Now add the little medical mysteries I keep encountering: dizziness, light headedness, high cholesterol, moderate to high glucose readings, random muscle injuries (NONE of which I had prior to surgery) and I am now on the fence about WLS in general. I refuse to be one of those people where the only thing that matters is weight loss - I want the excellent health that should go along with it. I had it prior and I want it back.
Now should my doc find a way to alleviate all of this, then I will probably become the biggest cheerleader out there! Only time will tell.

Fiddle...I was not morbidly obese so my posts are likely not directed to the 45+ BMI patients. See the thing is, you 98%....it was all good for you, so you don't want us to discuss the negatives, but frankly, the negatives are death. DEAD, GONE, FOREVER REMOVED. THese are far off concepts to those who had an easy outcome. You lost weight, you feel great, all is well. Nifty keen hun but some of us die. And we don't like our voices to be quieted by the 98%. There are people for whom this surgery is a bad choice. I was one of them. Low BMI, no comorbidities, etc. I will fight to my death to keep those people from taking this route, like it or not. When god throws a lesson in our faces we can shut up or we can share that lesson. This surgery is not for everyone.
Phyllis took her last breath at 8:15 Alaska time tonight. A victim of WLS. She won't need an extra large casket Fiddle. But is that really all it's about? Her 2% voice should be heard. My voice should be heard. And if you can't deal with that, mute it, but don't dare attempt to tell me that we don't have a place in the conversation.

I deeply regret having had this surgery, which has left me with the likelyhood of needing a feeding tube for life. I caused my family horrific emotional pain, set my child's development back several steps, and suffered pretty horrible pain myself.
And now a dear friend of mine lies in a hospital bed with kidney failure as a result of her WLS (RNY). She was disconnected from all life support last week and is expected to die in the next few days. I know another woman who has a death sentence over her head as a result of the sleeve surgery.
I can't go back, so I have to go forward, but I'd be happy to see this surgery denied a lot more often until they can ensure safer outcomes. As the WLS market grows, so do the stories of people who literally are dying or have died because of WLS. I think it's a horribly overused treatment that should be a last ditch effort as a life saving procedure only. And even then...people will die.
I wish my dear friend had just stayed "fat". At least we'd still hear her laughter.

I've just been far too busy to post an update, so forgive the delay. We didn't just welcome a new baby, we're also still in the midst of an overseas move and life has been both crazy and sleep deprived.
We welcomed our newest daughter Elisheva (Shevi) on 21 March. She was 6 pounds, 7 ounces and 20 inches long at birth. Delivery went as planned without complications. She's absolutely adorable, and she's been a lot of fun for our whole family since her arrival. If only we weren't so busy we'd enjoy this time a bit more! Our twins are adjusting well and my daughter, in particular, hovers constantly just thrilled to be a big sister.
I have mentioned many times that my post-sleeve pregnancy was actually more challenging in some ways for me. I had more morning sickness, I was more tired, I had a great deal of trouble eating, etc. But I can say without a doubt that delivery and postpartum are totally different post sleeve, and I have never felt quite so good this quickly after a baby.
Delivery went very quickly and smoothly and I never needed pain medications afterward. Within two days I felt tired but basically back to normal. Now that I'm twelve days out, the only difference in pre-pregnancy and post is that my body isn't back to normal yet. Recovery was about 1,000 times easier without the excess weight, which I found to be a pleasant surprise.
I've also had a better milk supply than ever before. In the past I've struggled to maintain supply (I exclusively pump as every one of my four has had latching issues and pumping was easier for us) but this time around I'm pumping more than twice what I need each day and I already have a refrigerator and freezer full of milk. Again, this is different than before. I think it's mostly due to me just being a healthier person all around - I drink more Water, eat good foods, take my rest seriously (and whenever I can!) than I was in the past.
As for weight I gained a total of 32 pounds with my pregnancy. My scale is currently packed in a box and I'm in a hotel room that lacks a scale (darn Army lodging) but as of the 28th I was already down 18 pounds. I'm sure when I'm able to weigh again I'll be down somewhere between 22-25 pounds. I am already able to wear my pre-pregnancy 5/6 jeans...but they would have a bit of unsightly muffin top just now so I'm waiting to actually wear them out. Other than that, I'm back to my usual sizes in everything but bras. Those I'll need to special order, apparently!
I'll post some pictures of myself in a few days, but the reality is that even though I feel a bit messy and "loose" around the middle, there is no way I look like I just gave birth less than two weeks ago. If I had some decent Shapewear (again, packed in boxes) I think I'd be able to wear most of my pre-pregnancy wardrobe.
In any case, we're all doing well we're just really busy. We're enjoying Elisheva as best we can with the stressful move, and we can't wait to be settled in our house so we can relax a bit!
Attached are a few pictures of our adorable little princess.

Hey Vets - I really need to snag some shut-eye while I can but I wanted to drop in and say I posted a birth announcement for our daughter in the pregnancy board.
I hope everyone is doing well and once this overseas PCS nonsense is finally over and we can rest a bit I'll be back to post my usual helpful, sarcastic or just plain mean posts.
In the meantime, we're enjoying our little one immensely and can't wait for our new normal to finally start.
