Good Bye Band, Hello Sleeve
I am so happy for you. I have had my band for 5 years and want it out. It makes me feel so good to hear that it can be done in one surgery successfully.

Dr. Oz On Tv Right Now Promoting Gastric Bipass Surgery
I think you may be jealous of his "not manly body". He is fit, slim and eats right!! What we all should be doing.

Dr. Oz On Tv Right Now Promoting Gastric Bipass Surgery
I totally agree with Kathy. I watched the show and do not believe Dr OZ would promote this if he did not believe in it. He has his reputation on line. The sleeve is a component of the bypass, whether he did or did not discuss it, I think that it is wonderful that he stands behind weight loss surgery. He has put the information out there for those who may be considering the surgery. He states that a very low percentage, I think it was 3, of people who qualify who actually get the surgery. Obesity has become an epidemic in America and I am glad the surgery is being discussed.

5 Weeks 1000Calories!
You also have to factor in what caloric needs your body has just to function not just exercise. So if your body needs say 1700 to maintain than any less calories, without exercise should mean a weight loss.

Screw It! I'm Ready For This!
I am seriously considering this surgery and I can not wrap my head around how I can do this. How do you go from always thinking about food to not. Any advise can you give to someone contemplating the surgery? I can not even imagine what it would be like NOT to be so consumed with my size and losing weight all the time!

Pictures In Tj For Those Who Have Yet To Decide
I amseriously considering getting a revision from lapband to the sleeve. Can you tell me what your incisions are like? How many, how big? I am just so vain!!

Family Concerns
Well yes there can be complications as it is a foreign body inside of you. Abuse of the band and from what I hear just faulty band/installation can contribute. There is risk with any surgery but with the band it is a contraption inside that can cause issues, have you thought about the sleeve?

Chat Rooms, Anyone Use It?
I think the system shows anyone who is logged into lapbandtalk not necessarily chat. I did go into chat just now and saw 3 other people but noone was chatting. I think the idea of having a time to meet is great. Evenings are good for me too.

No Rerstriction After Pb
Your stomach can be irritated and maybe inflamed so it can affect your restriction. Eat only your one cup of food that you know you can eat and you should see your restriction come back.

Lapband Vrs Gastric
I hate to admit it but I am going to, if I had known that I could eat the slider foods, chips, ice cream, and feel no restriction I probably would not have gotten the surgery. Those are the foods that made me fat in the first place. Had I known I may have gone with an alternative surgery. But the surgeon got my money and on he goes............

Do Lap Banders, really need BREAKFAST?
I agree with everyone, my doctors information states to eat only when hungry so if first thing in the morning you are not, don't eat. I too usually eat about 3 hours after I awake but depending on my schedule I might eat earlier.

Bariatric Soup Recipe
Since you have not been banded yet, you have no idea what to eat and what works. I have many years under my belt and can offer a wealth of do's and don'ts. You should really take the information for what it is, helpful. You might think differently once you are banded..........................good luck to YOU!!

Throwing Up Daily.
I agree with all of the posts. How much fill did you get? It does sound like you may be too full. A slight de-fill will make all of the difference, trust me I have been there and done that. Some foods though are tricky, tuna for instance and maybe the mushy beans like the donut can ball up and will definitely get stuck. Everyone is different as to what they can eat so be careful, but go to your doc for a de-fill.

Support Group In Michigan
I am actually in Windsor, Ontario but am looking for anyone who would like to start up a support group in our area. I have not found anyone on this side of the boarder but I hoped there were others right across the river who would be interested. Please let me know of your location and maybe we can set up a coffee group to meet in person and support one another. Donna

You may want to nix the beans and macaroni not really part of the diet for us. Adding a ground meat would be nice.

5.5Cc Fill....wondering What Now?
You should be eating 1 cup of solid food at each meal three times a day. Stop eating when you feel full don't eat if you are not hungry. Eat your protein first.
-
Full, Yet Hungry?
I agree with lillib you should be only on liquids not shakes. Milk, juice, protein water..... Revisit your eating plan or contact your surgeons office for clarification, you don't want to harm yourself after surgery....

Why Am Not Loosing Weight
Hmm, so you are saying you have lost 20 pounds and weigh 160? How tall are you? Are you near your goal weight. If you are eating your one cup of food three times a day, drinking your water, when are you getting hungry? What/when are you getting stuck? These answers may help you, please post.
