dumb question about water
I think that Bubblebutt is right on...if there is water there when you eat it washes down faster and more....makes you eat more and be hungry!!! Defeats the purpose of being banded ..of course if you are choking a bit a sip may help, but I would not make a habit of it!!

CJULZGO--off topic--my DH also suffers from "fibro" he is one of few men who get it. Could you tell me alittle about your experience with it? I know for some, things like this are quite personal and I can respect that..I'm just curious, because it affects our whole family in ways I never expected, and at times it is difficult for me--and him!!! Any thing you could offer would be appreciated.

pre-op weight loss-- did you know that slimfasts have alot of calories, fat, and tons of carbs....I would suggest if you can take it, go with low carb slimfasts!!!!they will help you loss it better than regular or opti. slimfast!!!!! I personally like reg/opti. slimfast, it's like a better for you milk shake to me!! But, has really done little for weight loss! Veggies you say....I hope they are not yellow, white, or peas!! Generally speaking those have lots of carbs too.....no help on quick weightloss!!! Terry-- I'm probly going to be close to the first just because my doc. wants to push me in before his previously scheduled patients on Monday 4-2-07! I was gonna' be in March but he's gone the last week, so I'm an April girl....My birthday is 4-9 so I've always been an April girl!!!!!! Two week diet-- give it hell all!!!!! DH being his "supportive self" made Breakfast for our family on Saturday........Chocolate cake and whole milk for all three of us!!!! Or should I say a whole cake and whole milk!!! How's that for being there for me!! Well up to this point it has been a very positive experience--BUT, here comes the hard part of adjusting to a new life! I'm expecting to try and be positive thruogh out, however, with sacrifice, starvation, discomfort, and pain staring me down, I'm starting to feel.... alittle different/anxiety maybe? Today I feel like I've been beaten with a bat and caught the flu aswell! I think it my be in my head! GOOD LUCK APRIL BANDERS!!!! I WILL TRY TO BE SUPPORTIVE AND HELPFUL EVEN ON MY WORST DAYS...JUST KEEP IN MIND SOME OF MY DAYS MAY BE BETTER THAN OTHERS!!! My thoughts and prayers will be with you all weather I post it or not!!!!!

Lap-Band or Gastric By-pass???
I am wondering if you are misinformed or misunderstanding. The thought of having a port open in my body would frighten me!!!!! I think you should look around here for some time, ask alot of questions,go to a seminar, research everywhere you can!! Do not consider any surgery of any kind until you totally understand everything about it. I think we all made the decision for a variety a reasons.

Doing research
Hi! Welcome to LBT...Please tell us more about your journey as you decide. You are both quiet young and would truely have a lifetime to reap the rewards of weightloss and added health. I'm 34 almost 35 and am to be banded 4-2-07...5'6" @ 367# no health issues YET. I have not been very sucessful in healthy weight maintenance since I was 18 years old. I know this is the option for me (not bypass) and I can't do it on my own. We each need to make an informed decission, and with much research it should come easy, but not lightly! Use all your options to find information. good luck and health to you both

Supersizers---please tell me... I have seem many times, banders refer to the "toilet tongs" as a tool to "help" them reach to clean, after surgery...I have enough trouble reaching as is .....am I going to really be one of those in 2 months suggesting them, or is there an alterative? Does anyone of us 50+ BMI have experience with them? If it turns out that I will need/use them, is there a certain type that's better than others? ANY TIPS??? I'M SORRY IT SOUNDS GROSS BUT, I CAN'T NOT CLEAN, that's really gross!!!

Sheila----We would all love to have everyones approval-Right??? Well consider the source---you are still her baby---she may not have the same issues with weight, and therefore does not share your perspective--she also is a pro-nutrtionist/dietician who probly thinks that diet and exercise are the only ways to go,On that, I do agree but I personally need more help than I have ever been able to provide myself. As an adult we must make our own informed decisions, based on our own experiences, education, and individual needs physically and emotionally.---GOOD LUCK WITH GETTIN' MOM ON BOARD---just remember she needs you and loves you--right?

Reluctant Spouse
LauraP go girl!!! That sounds great, nothing better than those we love, loving what we want!!! Good luck and keep us updated all the way!

Hello Missouri!
Not a miracle, just time! You seem to be doing great. I am expecting to have different time to lose more, and times to lose less. If you think in terms of total weight loss it sounds amazing to me!! Some banders talk about the ONEderland......that seems like a miracle to me!!!! Starting a family sounds exciting......my DH and I had been together since early 1993, got married in early 1999, and didn't/couldn't successfully have a family until 2005-I lost my job and insurance- so we said better stop trying!?! and one stick test later......I said, guess what, DADDY? I had Mazie in Oct.2005. Losing weight should help you conceive!!! Hope it comes quickly for you when the time is right!

WOW IT SOUNDS GREAT TO BE WHERE KAT817 IS RIGHT NOW!!!! THANKS for clearing up my vocabulary question. It sounds very fun, and active for health!! The more you want to find, the more you have to search, walk, hike etc.... right? Does it sound like "G O cashing"???? don't know if I'm pronouncing it correctly......or like... G O catching???????
