  1. I normally cook my family's big meals. Christmas, Thanksgiving, & Easter. Everything from mac and cheese, to cream corn, & fresh green Beans and tomotoes. I am not a chef by any means and I have learned to cook throughout the years. My husband enjoys my cooking. For those of you post-sleeve. Do you still enjoy cooking for others? Have you modified the way you cook for holiday dinners? I find that when I do make these larger meals, I hardly eat just from being tired of cooking all day anyway. We are traveling to the US this Christmas and I will be the one to cook more than likely. I am just wondering if I will want to.
  2. Maybe the grease? Maybe you should have sticked to grits with no butter.
  3. Let's just face it WLS is a very personal decision. If you tell someone something they are gonna give their opinion. You know what they say, "Opinions are like assholes everyone has one and they all smell!" Even if you don't ask for their opinion they will still feel the need to give it because that is what friends do. So you will ultimately have friends that support you and friends that don't. If you guys are friends you should be able to tell her you respect her position, but you are going forth with your decision. If she is your true friend she will still be your friend after the surgery. You just need to know you may have to find support elsewhere. I am sure we have all been in relationships and we do not agree with something the person does or doesn't do. However, a real friend will still be there even if they think the person is making a mistake. I opted not to tell my friends because I don't want to hear all the opinions and advice. I think I have beat myself up enough about my situation and my decision. This is not an easy process and not one to take lightly. It is an emotional roller coaster.
  4. Yeah, he is dealing with stuff within himself. Girl, you are going to rock his socks off. He will be regretful.
  5. Wow, that is awesome progress in 2 months! Congratulations. Your picture speaks a thousand words. You look great.
  6. The one thing I have read on here is you must try to get to your calorie goal. That could hold you back or stall you. You know what and I have always said this, "You can change being fat, ugly you can't change." Did your husband have issues with you having the surgery that you know of?
  7. You both look awesome! Congratulations. I love to hear when the spouses join in and not only offer their support, but benefit from the surgery as well.
  8. Congratulations! I just found out I was approved and that was big news! I can only imagine how it feels to find out the date or roundabout date!
  9. Are you getting your fluids in? Pre-surgery were your a non-eater when stressed or where you a stress-eater?
  10. I have lived in South America for four years. It is common here for us to call each other chica. "Hi, Chica, See you Later Chica, What you been up to Chica?" It is really a term of endearment. So SleevenChica was born.
  11. I am really sorry to hear that you husband is cheating on you. I am sure no time is the right time to find out; however, your hormones are already out of wack due to your surgery. I have not had surgery yet, but I have read many posts about women spotting and have more than one period in a month. I don't think it is uncommon at all after surgery. Your body has gone through a major change and it is trying to figure things out. I know you are going through a rough time and it is easier said than done, you have to make this about you. I honestly believe that there are many spouses (man or women) that have issues when their spouse has WLS. However, those are their issues and if they are not willing to open up and talk about it what can you do? Right now your priority is healing and getting yourself well. Again, easier said than done. I am just so sorry you are going through this.
  12. How much have you lost? You look good girlie!
  13. That is great news!!! Good job and congratulations!
  14. Good luck! I can tell you I have BC/BS Federal and had the same requirements as you, plus pre-diet. Sent my paperwork in yesterday and was approved by the afternoon.
  15. Wow, just finish read your story. I hope you are doing better. I hope they are able to figure out soon what the best course of action is. You look fantastic!
  16. I am so glad you are able to have a sense of humor with all you are going through. I have to admit, I was like who is writing this nonsense!!! LOL you got me.

Hang in there! I totally understand the cultural and social aspects. It is the center of my world. It is sad but true. It will get better. From what I have read on here so many people go through the same thing. You are doing great and should be very proud.
  18. I submitted the paperwork to my insurance 1st thing this morning and I just got an email stating I was approved! I want to shout from the rooftops!!!! This process has been emotional!! The South American experience a bit different and no one to see me thru. I was wrong, I had someone on my side all the time.
  19. I am so sorry you are going through this. I am so happy that they found your clots early and u are being treated. I am sure it is a scary experience. I wish u a speedy recovery.
  20. congratulations! that is one of my all time goals
  21. No, I just finished my paperwork and I will email it to insurance tomorrow. My process is a bit different because I live in South America.
  22. When I was 28, I always said I would not be fat at 30, well here I am 37 and fat. I have been obese since 6 yoa. It is easy for people to tell u what they think u should do. I agree with a previous poster this is a very personal and very difficult decision. Most of us don't just wake up one morning and say, "wow, I think I will have WLS." For me it took a lot of research, sole searching and prayer. Sometimes u have to dig deep and it can hurt. I wish u luck in ur decision making process.
  23. You look great, congratulations on your two years!
