Please don't be put off by some of the responses to your post. I don't think we have enough information about you (yet) to assume that you've been making poor food choices, not practicing good eating skills, tolerating side effects, etc.
I do hope you've been to (or will be in the near future) talk with your surgeon about what's been happening. You might just need a slight unfill to make it possible for you to eat healthy, solid food without uncomfortable side effects.
Having said all that, I also have to say that it's way too soon in your WLS journey to give up on your band and (more importantly) yourself. In the meantime, my best advice to you is to follow a liquid diet for 24 hours after each stuck episode or other eating problem. That will give your irritated esophagus & stomach time to calm down so you're less likely to have a similar problem the next time you try to eat.

Honestly, I attribute my success so far to a few things...
Following my surgeons advice/rules (I hit a wall for three weeks and realized that I wasn't following some of the rules). As soon as I began to follow them more closely, I started losing again.
I will not do anything that I think contributed to me getting to 426lbs. If eating in the car did that, then I don't. If going to a party thinking I'll find something healthy, I prepare.
Excellent support from others on sites like this one and on youtube. There is no greater expert than someone who has been there through all of it before you.
Try not to make excuses. If I gain it's because I didn't do what I was supposed to. If I'm honest with myself I can figure out what I did wrong and not blame the scale. my period. the universe, etc.

There are so many reasons for the fluctuation...the batteries on you scale may need to be replaced, you ate some salty foods and you are retaining fluid.... You aren't drinking enough liquid.... Try not to stress... Just keep sticking to your plan....it will come off.

I've always been a fast loser but thanks for the kind thoughts! It's not about how fast but whether I can keep it up and keep it off if you know what I mean. Started exercising for the first time since the banding and I am getting up at 5:30am to go to the gym pool. I do 40 minutes of laps and then go to work. People ask me all the time how I have lost so much so quickly and the truth is, I follow the doctor's orders pretty carefully. I really have it in my head that this is my new life and anything I did before including the negative thinking got me to be 426lbs at 40 years old. I am changing everything including my internal thoughts. It's hard but its working!
I also see a mental health counselor to help me work through my feelings. I'm finding myself telling people what I really think (because I am not stuffing my feelings down with food). It's very new for me and I sometimes get amotional about it. It's like I am breaking up with a long time love and it you have to relearn how to live differently.

    MadeinMO,
Keep doing what you are doing. If you are getting a cup of food in with dense Protein, don't change anything. You may want to find something for a tiny snack when needed, just make it low cal and healthy. I sometimes just need two almonds and two banana chips or an 1/8 cup of crunchy dry Cereal. It will work. I just got off a three week plateau too, then 4 pounds just dropped this morning. Just be patient with the results. You do not want to be too tight just to see the scale move because you will not be comfortable.

    Thanks for the update!

Just wanted to stop in and say hello to my fellow October bandsters. I was banded 10/12/12 and I'm down 84 pounds (20 from when I saw the surgeon in July to the pre-op diet and 25 on the pre-op diet).
Feeling pretty good and looking forward to my second fill on Dec 20th. I still get hungry between meals so hoping the second one does the trick!

If you are only two days post op, you will need to practically have the cup in your hand all day. This is because the swelling from your surgery is preventing the liquid from going down. This happend to me for about four days and it began to ease as the swelling went down and I was able to drink more at a time. Just keep trying and it will happen!

at two days post op I would not be eating anything that can fall off a spoon. If your doctor said stay on liquids yogurt or other consistancys do not fall in that catagory. Stay on what your doctor said.

I stalled for a few weeks after surgery but I think I'm in a good groove now. I lost 5.5 lbs last week and so far I've lost 3 lbs since last Friday. Today when I weighed without shoes I moved the bar to the 250 and not the 300 for the first time in I don't know how when. I'm barely below 300 but dammit I'm below! I feel really great about that. Still can't tell much weigh loss yet but the scale doesnt lie. Just had to share.
I've also updated my blog, It's more humorous than helpful thefatgirlthin.blogspot.com
