This has been my biggest hurdle. My answer is Miralax, every night. Mix it in crystal lite or Water and it helps so much!

I agree, completely. Also, Starbucks has an app where you can build your own drink and it will give you all of the nutrition info. I knew I could have the sugar free coffee syrups, soy milk, and Decaf coffee. So, I put it together.

misslisa810 reacted to Giselle3264 in Discouraged With Your Weight Loss?
I've read so many posts from people who are discouraged with their weight loss because they're comparing themselves to others on the forum. No, we shouldn't do that, but we ALL do. I'm hoping this will help. Instead of looking at just the number of pounds someone has lost, look at the PERCENTAGE of their original body weight they've lost. For example, someone who weighed 400 pounds and lost 100, has lost 25% of their body weight. Great job! But if another person weighed 260 pounds and loses 65 pounds, they've also lost 25% of their body weight. That's also a great job!
Yes, gender, age, and biochemistry also matter. But hopefully this will help you put things in perspective. I try to remember this when I'm comparing myself to someone else. Continued success to you!

I am fortunate to have a supportive husband and one that never was bothered by my weight no matter what I weighed. You should have dumped that chili on him. I would have. He should be supportive of you and help you, not be rude and mean. Hand him some lotion and introduce him to Palmela. Put yourself and your happiness first.

CONCLUSION:
The most ecologically valid of the published studies offers no support for the suggestion that consumption of caffeine-containing beverages as part of a normal lifestyle leads to Fluid loss in excess of the volume ingested or is associated with poor hydration status. Therefore, there would appear to be no clear basis for refraining from caffeine containing drinks in situations where Fluid balance might be compromised.
My conclusion: coffee doesn't add any Water but doesn't dehydrate either. Don't depend on caffeine drinks for your fluid supply, drink Water and other de-cafs.

What kind of doctor recommends alcohol and soda to a post bariatric surgery patient?!
I would seriously have concerns. I was warned that it is possible to lose too must weight. Of course, some people never lose as much as they would have liked so it is not across the board. I did have a friend who has Gastric Bypass who lost more than she wanted to and she consistently upped her calorie intake until she got back to where she wanted to be, but she didn't eat crap food. Keep in mind, that it is normal for people to gain 10-15 pounds within five years. My doctor said not to worry if I felt like I got a little too skinny because my sleeve would stretch a little over time and I would gain some weight.

How did you gain weight before?
Honestly I would stay away from soda. I know the causes of soda is a big debate but I would do it for the lack of nutrition.
I would eat full fat things. cheese, milk, yogurt. Red meats. Raise your carbs. Maybe a little more bread. Add some cheesecake once a week.
Stay away from things just loaded with sugar. Maybe some creatin? That stuff muscle builders drink to help them bulk up?
Good luck and I can't wait to have this problem so I can do all the things I just stated above.

Yeah, I really like it too. It's low carb, so I don't mind eating it in the evening if I want a snack.< /p>
I don't use it as a meal anymore, cause I can eat anything now.
I think the cheapest place to get it is Amazon cause their shipping is cheaper. If you have a Vitamin shoppe, they carry it. I don' t have one here though.

misslisa810 reacted to *susan* in Oh Diet Coke, How I've Missed Thee...
Glad to see everyone has apologized and made nice, lol. I hate when I have to come into a thread and remind everyone about our rules regarding personal attacks. Fortunately, I didn't have to this time, or did I just do that? Oh goodness, and added a "roll's eyes" to it too.
I will behave myself now and just say this, I stay away from all soda, but it is because I love diet coke and regular coke and once I start, I can't stop. In fact, about two months ago I got back in the habit of drinking it again after not having done so for almost six years. Man, was I mad at myself, and not diet, the full loaded sugary calorie stuff. So, I had to go cold turkey on it again about three weeks ago and am feeling much better again.

Protien pudding... Do you like pudding? Make a box of suger free fat free pudding with skim milk and add 2 scoops of protien powder when mixing it up. TONS of protien in a small amount of pudding. It's an easy way to get the protien in.

The thin cut turkey bacon is not bad at all. 30 calories for 2 slices. Actually has more Protein than fat. I've eaten it a few times.
And I love using lettuce instead of bread. I have made fajita wraps for lunch twice in the last week.

misslisa810 reacted to tiffers in Protein Bars
I usually don't. Some of them are a bit dense, so I just eat what I can, and then snack on what's left later. However, I'm 17 months post-op, not 8 weeks. I really don't remember my eating habits when I was 8 weeks out. I was dealing with some non-WLS related neurological issues, and honestly my diet became a secondary thing. I tried to eat what I should, and avoid what I shouldn't, but I didn't obsess over it like I would have had I not been dealing with other things. When I'm at work ( pre-k teacher) I do not have the time to sit down and slowly eat a meal for 30 minutes. Heck, i dont have time to quickly eat something in 10 mins. Lol I'm moving from the time I walk in the door until the children go home, then I have to prep for the next day. So, usually what I do is take 2 Protein bars and 2 cheese sticks to work. Whenever I get a chance, I take a bite of food. I know that's not what's recommended, but it's the only way I get any food in. :-/

misslisa810 reacted to MyGastricSleeveLife in I Miss Oatmeal
when I was on full liquids and pureeds, I had oatmeal or cream of wheat a lot. At that point, my doctor said not to really worry about the carbs. Actually, he still says not to really worry about carbs & just to get my Protein and fluids and overall calories in. My doc and my trainer at the gym both said if I stopped losing, I might have to increase my carbs. During my full liquid/pureed stage, I usually got 100 carbs or more a day. Now that I'm 12 weeks out, I normally get between 5 - 40 g of carbs per day, but I sometimes go higher if I have oatmeal - but that doesn't bug me since I know it's still good for me & I eat a lot less of it than I used to before surgery! Everyone is very different. I've heard of people staying under 40 g, but I've also heard of people who do 100 g or even some that do 150 g, depending on their activity level & their bodies. I try to focus more on my protein, fluids, & overall calories and don't pay too much attention to the carbs, but I am normally below 40 g now at 12 weeks out. However, being only 4 weeks out, depending on your food progression, I don't think it really matters a whole lot at this point. My food progression was slow and cream of wheat was a staple food for me for a long time!
