  1. I have always been one to drink a large amount of fluid. And with this heat (100+ here) it makes me even more thirsty. I always feel like I drink too fast. I'm only one week post op. Could this stretch my sleeve? And how do I make myself slow down?

    Arkansas Roll Call...

My husband used McAlexander and I was planning to but he stopped doing bariatric surgery at that point. I loved Pam (the coordinator) as well. He did another surgery for me though and I really like him. And I would go to St Bernard's before NEA any day...my experience there was horrible.

    Insanity

Is anyone else doing Insanity? I just started yesterday with my husband (who also has a sleeve). I'm also doing Couch 2 5k (on week 3) and will run my first one in June. I have switched to a real food diet recently (not counting calories, fat, etc), but now that I'm exercising so heavily I know I need to watch my Protein. How do you get enough protein w/o shakes (I cannot tolerate them!)? I'm about 8 1/2 months post op and still cannot eat much (which I'm TOTALLY ok with!). But Insanity has you eating 5 small meals a day, and I stay full for so long after eating one I'm not sure how I'll get enough.

    Arkansas Roll Call...

It wasn't hard for me. I'm 7 months out and still can't manage 3 ozs sometimes! I had a week off as well and for me that was plenty of time.

    Carbonated Beverages Stretch The Sleeve?

I don't see the stretching being an issue, but I had a serious soda "addiction" pre surgery. I HAD to have at least one every day. I'm only 4 months out from surgery and have had cravings for them. I know, though, that if I have one I won't be able to stop myself so I avoid them anyway.

    Arkansas Roll Call...

I'm in Jonesboro! Originally from the central part of the state. Sleeved on June 25 down 59#!
  7. Do you ever set small goals for yourself or is it best to just kinda go with how your body is doing on its own? I was sleeved June 25 and haveost 26 lbs. My husband and I are taking a vacation in a month and I would love to be down another 20-25 lbs. I know that's not a totally unattainable goal, but I'm wondering if its recommended to or not to set goals like that.

    Incisional Hernia

Ct showed nothing. Drs best guess is the tight stitch they put in the largest incision where the stomach is pulled out of pulling on something.
  9. Has anyone here suffered an incisional hernia post surgery? Apparently they can occur after surgery where the lining is already compromised. I have been having severe pain in my left side and this is the only thing I can come up with. My surgeon, based on info via phone call, said he has no idea what it could be. I am having a ct tomorrow morning. Just wanted to see if anyone here had experience with this.

I too drive the day after I came home.

3 Days Out And Need Answers

I have that! I have no idea why or what causes it, but it sucks!

    Incisional Hernia

I actually had my gallbladder removed when I had the sleeve done.
  13. I was sleeved on the 25 of June and had my drain out last Monday. Since then I've had this terrible pain in my left side above my hip bone but it feels like deep inside. My surgeon said he has no idea what it could be and is sending me for a ct on Monday. It hurts more when I cough or laugh or bend more on that side. Anyone had something like this?

    Pain In Left Side

From reading (and trying not to self diagnose myself with some sort of rare fatal disease as always happens) I think I have an incisional hernia. Cause from surgery weakening the abdominal lining. I'll hopefully know more after my ct on Monday...
  15. I was the same as KittyfromBC. The only reason I didn't go back on July 2 was because I got my drain out that day and didn't want to go to work with that in. My boss (who was sleeved in April) said if I needed to work half days that first week I came back we could work that out because he had to due to being so tired in the afternoons. I didn't have any problems with that though.

    Whats Next?!?

If you're working out that much, and losing inches you could likely be gaining muscle.
  17. I had my surgery on Monday, June 25. I was 259.4 the morning of surgery and today I'm 248. I've dipped down to 241 before with dieting but could never break that 240 barrier. So that will be my first exciting milestone. I've been overweight/obese for as long as I can remember. Going to my 10 year high school reunion next year being a whole new me sure will be fantastic!

    Sugar Free Ice Cream

Freeze a banana and then puree it. Tastes a lot like ice cream.

    Left Upper Abdominal pain

I'm having the same pain and I'm 13 days out. I had my gallbladder removed though so I know its not related. I also cannot eat anything. It just hurts even drinking water. I think I will call my surgeon tomorrow.

    Sleeved On Monday

I cracked the 240 mark. 13 days post op and I'm down 20 whole pounds! I've NEVER lost 20 lbs before!!

    Haven't Eaten Today

I now haven't eaten in over 2 days and nothing so far this morning either. Even drinking water is slightly painful. I also have this horrid pain in my left side. It almost feels like a side stitch but won't go away and is getting slightly worse daily. It sucks because I felt like I was doing so well before...
  22. I'm only 11 days post op and have been on purees for 6 days. However, today I literally couldn't make myself eat. Food just isn't tasting good anymore. Other than a glass of milk, its been only clear liquids...
  23. I have three small kids ages 6, almost 4 and 2.5. My husband is gone during the week for work and I just had my surgery last Monday. Luckily, I've had energy to at least mostly care for them all...

    Drinking Too Quickly

I started full liquids on day 2 ( while still in the hospital) and purees on day 5 per my nut. Tolerating everything well. I can still only eat 1-3 ozs at a time though, and I'm totally fine with that.

    Drinking Too Quickly

I drink almost exclusively water, especially that quickly. Protein supplements aren't agreeing with me post op. I actually am getting very little protein now, but my surgeon assured me that before it reaches a critical point I'll be able to eat more. I can easily drink 8 oz in less than 5 minutes. I'm just always so thirsty!
