  1. My cat always gives me the cold shoulder when I'm away for a few days. My husband and I were gone 4 nights when I had my surgery. My cat went on a semi-hunger strike while we were gone only eating half his normal portions. When we returned I guess he was 'showing us' by ignoring us for a few days but before long he was back to his normal self all up in my business!
  2. Yes, the restaurant in the Marriott is great. I stayed 4 nights there as a patient of Dr. Ortiz earlier this month. My husband really enjoyed their Breakfast and lunch buffets. All I had to say was 'I am an OCC patient, I'll be having the chicken broth" and they brought it right out without a second thought. It's a huge bowl that I could barely make a dent in. They happily put the excess in a styrofoam cup so I could take it with me to sip on. Room service was equally good.
  3. Found mine at Whole Foods in Memphis.
  4. Great post Renee! Mine was 7/9 too and I've only lost ONE pound. It finally dawned on me this morning that I've actually lost 16 lbs in the past 4 weeks so a brief stall post surgery isn't going to get me down. My clothes are definitely telling the story too! This week I had on a body hugging pair of yoga pants and my husband kept telling me how skinny I was. I kept dismissing him. Next thing I knew i was getting a text with a picture of my butt that he took when I wasn't looking. I couldn't believe it was me! I made him take another one! It was awesome! So glad to hear you are seeing results! It's gonna work for us too!
  5. 7/9 here. Syntax nectar Protein drinks and cream soups blended with skim milk and/or Water. My doctor gave me anti nausea medicine to help with all the pills and Vitamins I'm taking so I'm not having problems with vitamins. Although i am a little overwhelmed with how many it seems I need to be taking! Have you tried taking your Vitamin right before going to bed? I started a multi during my two week pre-op and that's what I did to avoid feeling yucky. Seemed to work!
  6. I recommend Dr Ortiz too. Surgery last Monday, 7/9, and back to work today. Everything about my experience was first class and definitely top notch! I had no real pain aside from gas pain. I was sent home with pain meds, antacid, anti nausea and antibiotic prescription medications. It's been smooth sailing. Check out their videos on You Tube. They are VERY representative of the facilities as well as Dr Ortiz's personality and bedside manner. I don't believe I could have made a better choice. OCC is awesome!
  7. Hi Renee! I had surgery 7/9 too. My weight morning of surgery was 197. I gained 8 lbs in the hospital and just got back to 197 this morning. Hang in there. It's going to happen for us too!
  8. Umm.. I'm pretty sure I meant 'start'. Cannot wait to see the lbs START dropping!! LOL
  9. Something that steered me to the sleeve was reading about future complications such as slippage and erosion. That along will fills seemed too high maintenance for ME. Some people opt for the band because it's reversible. I chose the sleeve because of its permenace. I've been batting my weight over 20 years. I'm ready for a permanent solution. I can't give you any veteran advice because I was just sleeved this morning! I'm in my room now with IV fluids & pain medicine. The only real pain I have felt is the gas pain you will read about. The only pain related to my incisions just feels like I did 1,000 sit ups! Best of luck making your decision. There are many effective choices . Just do your research and compare the pros and cons. In the end one choice will rise to the top as the procedure for you!
  10. 5'2" and just had my surgery this morning with Dr . Ortiz in TJ. I was 212 at the beginning of my two week pre-op diet. Weighed in for surgery at 197! Cannot wait to see the lbs stop dropping!!
  11. Hi! I am new here and just beginning this journey. I have attended a seminar with Dr. Weaver at St. Francis. I've completed my application & am currently anxiously awaiting a date for my first consult. My question for anyone in the Memphis or Northeast Arkansas area: Have any of you had to find a new PCP that was willing to refer you for surgery? Ive only been seeing my current primary about a year and after bringing up the subject of WLS with him today he is clearly not on board. Any advice, stories of your personal experience or of course names of WLS friendly PCPs will be greatly appreciated!
