Milk of Mag= terrible!
yes i agree milk of magnesium is awful.... I had a problem for 2 days straight and wanted to die but i finally had a bm on the third day( the first week was hell it gets easier by week 2)... My fanny was in severe pain from all the straining and pushing it was awful. My main incisiion was bruised badly and one of the other incisison bled from the constipation catastrophe! I never want to experience anything like that again. So this week (2nd week) i took a dulcolax and the following day i had a bm and it went 10times better!!! I couldnt go when i took mom or miralax i found stool softner works better at least for me!!! Best wishes TD41

Oh the pain!
Hi I agree the first week or so is painful but it will get easier... I used a heating pad and slept in a recliner alot the first week after surgery. Today makes my 2 week postop and i just finished taking a lite walk on the treadmill. I am fatigued but i know i have to start moving at some point. Also what i found to help me with my incisions besides the heating pad is a abdominal binder. It helps me alot. I plan to use it for a while until i feel comfortable about my incisions. If possible try not to bend, twist, or lift anything above 10 lbs . Best of luck to you. I am happy to say after 2 weeks i started at 221 and now im 201.6 from my 2 week post op visit yesterday I believe the best is yet to come 2013!!! TD41

I am a 3 week liquid diet only and the 2nd phase is soft foods. I am looking forward to eating again but nervous because i dont know what to expect but this too shall pass. Friends response
Hi Gypsy, Could be a lil bit of both.... i have chosen not to tell anyone. My husband/daughter/boss are the only ppl that know. I sent a pic to my sisters last nite and immediately one of my sisters said youre loosing weight arent you... My response was yes im trying. Truly some ppl are so judgmental and jealous the dont know how to handle change but they also dont know the private pain that the other person suffers being overweight... Best of luck with surgery. I am down 20lbs. I had my surgery Dec 28th TD41

Sick: Nasal drainage
i have clogged ears and stuffy head... Im not sure why but i have been like this since i had surgery on Dec 28th.... The first 3 days home i woke up with dried blood in my nose and whenever i would blow it blood would come out. Very odd but i am curious as to why 10 days later i still have the nasally voice and stuffy ears feeling.... I would love to know whats causing this and any insight would be helpful... Best of luck to you TD41

Ugh throwing up constantly sick
I agree peace hang in there I am in my second week and very excited about the wl but we are human.... This is most definitely a major life changer and now that we dont have food to fall on we have to learn how to cope with life challenges/changes.... If you havent maybe try to start attending support groups in your area. Best of luck and may you continue to heal from your grief. hugs TD

Hunger
Yes i have a feeling of hunger since my surgery. I was sleeved Dec 28 and on the 6th day i felt like i was starving!!!! My stomach was making loud growling noises, churning, and i thought what the heck what is going on? I am on a clear liquid diet for 3 weeks and yes its hard but im surrounded by my family that eats as normal and i know i made the decision to become healthy but all the while im praying this too shall pass. I look at food in the pantry and fridge but i dont have a desire to eat it..... Im so proud of myself because i know there will be hell to pay if i dont stay true to this liquid-diet.... Alot of sleevers says it will get easier and i believe it will but the initial stages of such a major surgery such as this surely is difficult to deal with but others have and so will I.... All i can say is try to focus on something besides food and stick to the plan the best is yet to come!!! Blessings TD

Head and Ear congestion
Good Afternoon, Just curious has any one experienced head/ear congestion since being sleeved??? I am 9 days post-op and i wake up every daywith head congestion, ears feeling clogged etc. I find it odd considering that i have no other symptoms of a cold/allergies. Also, for the first few days of being home i constantly had dried blood in my nose or fragments whenever i would blow. I find myself constantly sniffing trying to clear up the drainage??? Just very curious if anyone has experienced this?? Thanks TD

How soon can you sleep on your side.
i am having problems sleeping on my side and man it urks the hell out of me.... i am so use to tossing and turning freely pre-op and now its hard as hell to move/sleep. I literrally in my recliner often just to try to rest which isnt comfortable but it beats the pain and agony i have to endure everytime i try to get in bed. UGHHHH miserable. I bought a binder today but im not sure howww much of a difference it will make. I feel like left side incisions are busting at the seams if i put to much pressure on them. Today makes my 8th day post op. Best of luck and if any other helpful tips are out there please do tell. Im desperate with a capital D Thanks, TD

Nervous about the first time i eat soft foods and how to handle lunch when i return to work!
Karen thx ssssssoo much for the tips.... I work in a school district with pre-k. I asked to be off 2 additional weeks just to recover from the surgery alone and then i realized OMG i have no idea of how im going to get thru breakfast and lunch at work daily. I dont want to be at work vomiting and having ppl asking whats wrong are u ok etc etc. I am a very private person have been all my life even when i was small. I really appreciate your advice. I had in my mind that i had to take a high protein lunch low carb and pray i dont vomit daily or if i eat to fast. This is allll soooo new to me and im trying to learn as i go!!! Congrats on whatever success you had with your sleeve! Hugs TD

Nervous about the first time i eat soft foods and how to handle lunch when i return to work!
Hi, I know this is strange but im really nervous about trying softfoods in a couple of weeks.... I am on a 3 week post-op liquid diet per my physician. I have 2 weeks left and I dont know how i will deal with vomiting/sliming/chest pains and whatever else comes along with my new tummy mishaps. Yes i know i decided to have the sleeve and im not regretting my decisions but i dont want the discomfort or the ugly side of the sleeve to become a daily part of my life.... The first day i start soft foods i also return to work . I havent shared with coworkers/ family i had the surgery because i felt they honestly did not need to know and i will share if./when i choose to share. I have struggled with my weight for years and finally had the courage to do something about it but its been very painful, emotional, and extremely difficult. I know i am not the only one that has felt this way and im glad that this forum allows us to express the pain of weight issues/struggles/disappointments. I would greatly appreciate any tips, recipes, ideas on how to start soft foods also how to handle lunch at work!!! Thanks Blessings, TD
