Feeling great overall but....
Hi All, It has been an amazing journey with the sleeve. I cant believe I have lost over 50 lbs and in a few short weeks I will be 8 months post-op. I feel great overall but I noticed last month my tail bone started to hurt. I cant explain why but if I sit a certain way it throbs and is uncomfortable. I am not sitting around all day but would like to know if anyone has experienced this that is almost 8 months out or longer. Also a new pain entered my life this morning I have a sharp pain in my right shoulder and it hurts when I swallow. I don't know why this started today but I really need this pain to go away in my shoulder and throat. I felt good yesterday so I don't know if I slept wrong, if its gas related or something more serious. Please share if anyone has experienced achy tailbone, pain when swallowing, and shoulder pain. Thanks Be Blessed TD41

Seven days out and my eyes are open
Hi, I completely understand im in my early40's and had surgery Dec. 28, 12! I feel fantastic just recently started working out to help tone up certain areas. I agree this tool is just a tool and we do have to be realistic about what we eat. I am so glad that I had this surgery. I am determined to keep the weight off and look forward to motivating others who maybe struggling as I once did before I finally decided enough is enough! Take care TD41

I miss my friend "food'
I agree I find myself missing icecream and bread its so crazy. I have attemptedbread 3 times since surgery and each time I felt horrible so I have decided that I no longer will be able to have bread like I once did.... I don't crave it often but sometimes I do and now that spring/summer is on the way I am thinking about icecream and milkshakes. I haven't attempted either one not since Dec 28 2012 for fear that I will stretch my pouch. This surgery has changed my life forever but I do miss certain foods but not enough at least for now to put myself thru hours of possible tightness in my chest/ slimming/vomiting etc. Take one day at a time and keep ya head up! Stalled already?; Very irritable today; Eating mushy food
Hi, Dont be discouraged.... Just take one day at a time. All of us have moments when we feel down or disappointed but remember its a process and your body is healing. Kuddos on the liquid intake the food will get easier to get down as you continue to heal. Stay encouraged TD41

PROTEIN BARS
yes i like the variety pack i picked i agree they make u feel full and i know i need the protein since i cant get it all in thru regular food. I feel at times im overeating and not listening to my body so i figure the bar or protein drink will do the trick and i cant overeat or run the risk of the dreadful slime or vomit.... I believe i have had 3 episodes of sliming since my surgery. I also like the alpine punch almost frozen. Its so hard to keepup with all the vitamins protein food portions daily. I have tried to get a system going but dont always follow thru like i should especially the weekends. Overall im happy with my sleeve and the wl. I have discovered so far that i like the choc brownie and peanut supreme quest bar. My next bar to try is mixed berry. Best wishes to all for responding TD41

PROTEIN BARS
Hi all, Just curious im two months post-op I have lost 31 lbs(yaY) My question is if anyone use protein bars as one of their meals or mainly as a snack??? I really want to stick to just 3 meals a day but not sure if i should use the protein bar/drink as a meal I am having a hard time getting my 60-80 grms of protein daily thru regular food so im curious if i should use a protein bar/drink as a meal. I visited gnc today and purchase quest protein bars and isopure drinks. quest bars gives 20 grams of protein per bar and isopure drinks gives 40 grams protein.... by no means do i plan to eat more than one bar a day or drink one isopure a day I was sso surprised to see so many drinks bars shakes etc to choose from.(my first time ever visiting gnc) I am happy to have my sleeve but i find that i have to purchase more things to help with protein since i cant eat 60-80 grms daily.... There are some pros and cons to this whole wls.... by no means am i unhappy just have to get creative and not break my pocketbook buying all these vitamins supplements protein etc. Any feedback would be appreciated! I love my sleeve but...
hey everyone that posted thanks for the positive feedback just got to stay the course and take it one day at a time. Yes I agree my doctor says eat 3 meals aday but i know its hard to get 60-80 grams of protein from food daily so i find myself eating more than 3 times then i feel guilty but today i stayed the course and havent snacked in between meals----. i measured out my lunch which was a salad from home with a lil ranch dressing on top in 4 oz container and a few grapes cut in half and a strawberry sliced. I had for breakfast a half banana and i was full but when i got to work they were offering hotcocoa coffee or cider. I chose the hot cocoa. I didnt drink all of it i had water in between. Now i am home and havent had a snack or dinner. I feel ok when im at work but its something about when i come home i feel the need to pop somethin in my mouth once i insert the key in the door! Not today i came in and put clothes in the dryer and tried to focus on doing things around the house until hubby came home. I guess i have been emotionally eating for so long now its a part of me. Yes i agree the surgery and whole process is such an experience but i dont want to sabatoge by just eating and snacking for no reason. I am very proud i ate all of the salad in the 40z container and a lil bit of fruit because i was starting to get the tight feel in my stomach. I am nervous tomorrow i go to see my surgeon for my overdue 6 wks check up. I dont want to be made to feel bad if i havent lost enough weight. I think i look great but i also believe i will loose slow since i started out at 221lbs. I stepped on scale this morning and i had lost another lb from yesterday. I told myself i wouldnt become a slave to the scale but find myself checking a couple times a week just to try to jolt me into knowing i have to do my part and the new tummy will do her part we are partners for life(lol). My clothes fit so much better and i have gone down 2 sizes in shirts and pants. thx for listening and good luck to all of you TD41

I love my sleeve but...
Hey all, I havent posted in a while so here i go.... I love my sleeve but i find myself enjoying food more than i thought i would.... I was extremely nervous to enter the soft food stage and now im up to the you can eat raw veggies, dense protein stage. I eat a few bites feel full but find myself not wanting to stop eating although i feel full.... Its like i feel full but also think i need to eat everything i put on the plate. I finally decided to buy some 4 0z containers to try to measure out my food. I am loosing weight but afraid i may be stretching my sleeve. I am not 2 months post-op but will be on Feb 28th. I really need advice on how to just eat 3 meals a day and be content once i have the im full feeling. I dont know whats making me want to eat in between meals sometimes and other times im ok. I feel like im sabatoging myself by continuously eating for no reason. I am being honest but feeling like im the old person not having any self control... Please help and thanks for listening I need support and praying im not the only one thats going/ gone thru this. This is all still so new to me. I havent vomited not one time since i started foods but i dont want to stretch my pouch so i know i need to have more self control just dont know how to avoid the old habits since nothing that i eat bothers my new tummy..... I dont mean to ramble but i want to be as truthful as possible about my eating habits. I dont have to snack but find myself not alot snacking on animal cookies, chips. My mind says no but i give in from time to time. I cant explain it. Blessings to all TD41

Bariatric advantage multivitamins
Hi I have a question. I am curious if any one crush their multivitamins and probiotic pills from bariatric advantage.... I try to chew 2 vitamins in the morning per instruction and always feel like i want to vomit when i start chewing and swallowing. I am not sure why i feel sooo nauseus when i take the vitamins. I have been sleeved since Dec 28 i havent vomited not once since i left hospital. Just curious if i will recieve same benefit crushin the pills as oppose to chewing and feeling sick every morning before i go to work.... Any advice would be great or if anyone are using these vitamins please share your experience. Thanks TD41

Lemon water or crystal light?
Hi, I am on stage 2 soft foods but not allowed to have any fruits until stage 3 which is in 2 more weeks. I am entering my 5th week post-op but really want to add fruit to my water. I like crystal light but sometimes it tastes too sweet. I think my taste buds have changed. I thought about buying lemon flavored crystal light but havent because i want to use a real lemon... . I love lemon in my water but wander if its too much for my sleeve. I am struggling with taking small bites/chewing well mushy food. I really try to count 20 times before i swallow and place my spoon/fork down before i find that sometimes the food just makes it to the back of my throat and i cant help but to swallow (weird i know) . I have a burning sensation from time to time in my right chest/breast area. Would like advice about if its safe to add lemon to my water and how to really focus on eating slowly and chewing well. I havent vomited/slimed but dont want to damage or stretch my pouch. Normally i am able to get maybe 5-6 bites before i fill like im about to pop!!! Thanks TD41

It's sinking in...
Hi, You are not alone and like you i have not shared my wls with anyone besides my husband/daughter/ and boss who gave me her word she would not tell anyone. I had my surgery Dec 28 and have lost 26lbs as of yesterday when i stepped on the scale . I am anxious and nervous about returning to work Monday because i know someone is going to ask me have you lost weight!!! I can see it!!! because i started out as 221lbs. I plan to tell them yes i have and i decided 2013 will be the year i finally take my weight serious and focus on being healthy. I know some ppl will be supportive and their are others that will judge, question, gossip and everything else but be supportive so thats y i have chosen not to tell anyone at work or any of my family members.... I am so happy that i joined this website because you feel support, encouragement, and know that you are not alone we all are here for one reason and that is to become healthy no matter whatever avenue we chose to take the bottom line is if we truly treat our sleeve right it will do what it needs to do and we can be successful with wl for life!!! Im am so excited that i finally had the courage to do something about my weight and it feels extra terrific to see the weight coming off right before your eyes weekly if not daily!!! Blessings to you on your wl journey!!! TD41
