I will be 3 months post-op on Tuesday, and have lost 51 pounds (hopefully 52 pounds by Tuesday!).
More significantly than the weight loss, all indications of my being pre-diabetic have disappeared!! I'm thrilled with the results of my surgery!!

lollyfidy1965 got a reaction from Joisey01 in From Grey To Brown?
So, I'm almost 12 weeks post-op, and I'm noticing that my hair color is changing. I've been about 80% grey for several years (yeah...I'm not old enough to be that grey....tell me something I DON'T already know..LOL), and my grey hair is now turning light brown!! WTF??? LOL
I know many people have commented that the hair that regrown, after hair-loss, has been different colors, different textures, curly instead of straight, etc....but, this isn't regrowth! This is long hair....that's been in my head a long while!
    Has anyone else noticed this??

I don't know....I really liked the silver, and spent a lot of money, for a lot of years, coloring the light brown! LOL We'll see how it ends up!

lollyfidy1965 got a reaction from Ms skinniness in I Cannot Get Myself To Drink Protien Anymore, Is This Harmful... 6 Weeks Out
If you're not drinking Protein, how are you getting enough Protein every day? Have you had your diet advanced to eat solid foods already?? (I was still on full liquids at 8 weeks post-op.) At nearly 12 weeks post-op, I'm not able to eat enough "real" food to reach my minimum protein intake for a day. I still supplement with chocolate Muscle Milk lite, and Gelatein 20, every day.
The short answer to your question is...yes, it IS harmful to not get adequate amounts of protein every day (75-90 grams/day for me). And, yes, it IS harmful to attempt getting your protein from sources you've not yet been cleared to consume. If you're cleared for solid food, then its fine, as long as you're able to consume enough to meet minimum protein levels.

Never even heard of such a thing before in my life. But I was at a flea market today and this lady was making some so we bought a piece. I ate a tiny little bite and yes, it tasted exactly how it sounds. If you like chocolate (yes) and you like bacon (yes yes) it's good. In my past life I would have bought every piece she had, but I took my little bite and got out of there.
Went home and grilled some stuffed jalapeños with shrimp and fat free cream cheese....yum yum. Also had a couple of bites of veggie chips and homemade guacamole. I love it that I can eat sensibly and still enjoy it.

I've found the unflavored Unjury works in just about anything that has its own flavor....soups (cream of Tomato, beef broth, chicken consommé, etc), hot tea, hot coffee...its all good...as long as the mixer has a relatively strong flavor. I do really like the chicken broth-flavored Unjury powder...particularly if its mixed in chicken broth, instead of Water. Just remember....make sure the liquid is less than 130 degrees (F) before mixing the powder in..otherwise you get Protein goop! LOL

I agree with Cojeeeeez. Be loud and be proud. You stood up, decided to make a difference in your future! Don't ever be ashamed that you are improving your health and life. And I would not counter the question with a lie or half truth. It all comes around to bite you in the a$$. Good Luck.

Honestly I would say its not a rumour it's the truth and I feel great, thanks for asking. You can't spread false hope like "oh I lost 50# with diet and exercise" it just makes the rest of us feel like sh*t coz we can't do that! There's either something wrong with wls or there isn't. And you have to rock the pride, not falsify it!

lollyfidy1965 got a reaction from Izuri in Major Nsv Today!
So....I stopped by the hospital this morning, to have my 3-month post-op labs drawn. When I started this process, my fasting glucose was slightly elevated (111)...in the "pre-diabetic" range. My HgbA1c was also slightly elevated (6.5)...also marking me as "pre-diabetic).
    Today's results?? Fasting glucose - 78!!
    HgbA1c - 5.6!!
Both perfectly NORMAL (as were all the other tests performed)!!!
I'm SO thrilled with this!! One of the major reasons I decided to have surgery was to avoid being diagnosed with diabetes...its truly a vicious disease, and I wanted nothing to do with it. NOW...just 11 weeks after having my surgery done...I am exactly where I wanted to be.....NORMAL!!!
To be honest, this feels better than being able to say I've lost 100 pounds...because these numbers matter, in a real health sense, ya know??
    WooHOO!!

lollyfidy1965 got a reaction from krisq16 in Here In New England.... Bring On My Sleeve!
Do as much mental work as possible. By that I mean identify the psychological/emotional reasons why you eat, when you eat, what you eat, and start working to get those things under control now. Find books related to food addiction (I highly recommend "The End of Overeating"), and read them with an open mind and heart. Start eating with cocktail forks and "baby" spoons...taking tiny bites, chewing til its liquid, taking at least 30 minutes to finish a meal. Start eating those meals on small plates (mine are about 7 inches across) and bowls, so your brain starts to recognize smaller portions as "plates full" of food. And start walking, or doing Water aerobics (if you're able)....whatever you're able to do, in terms of exercise. It'll get your body going, and it will help make your recovery easier.
Most important....do every single thing your surgeon and/or nutritionist tell you to do. Their instructions are given for a reason....and you're paying them for their wisdom. Take advantage of it!
And remember....every time it feels "difficult"....every time you think you can't possibly drink one more Protein drink...every time you think you can't not eat something you're not supposed to eat....that you have chosen to take your life, your health, in your own hands...you've chosen to get healthy...and you can do it! You can be strong enough to make better, healthier choices! Your journey will be amazing!!
Wishing you all the best as your day approaches!
