Carbonation - is there any?
Scientific evidence that carbonation stretches the stomach. Some say there dr says do not drink others say dr says just in moderation. Some say no restriction. What is the truth? Where does it say it hurts you. I could see before you heal but after 6 months or so will it be alright.

Cravings and appetite before surgery.
Tell you the truth my wait time was only 3 months but ended up being 5, That last month is when the food funerals started. Everything I loved to eat and every place I liked we went to. I wouldn't say I over ate I just ate what I wanted. But now that I know the calories in restaurant food I probably ate a lot. But the day I started the liquid diet I did not cheat for 2 weeks. I am 5 months out and down 66 lbs. I have not been this low for 40 years. I would do it all over again. Try to get your head straight before you have the surgery. You have to work the program for it to be successful. Keep in touch.

Vision loss linked to bariatric surgery?!?
I am noticing blurred vision also. But I am older and have cataracts and that could be the reason. Interested to know if there is any scientific research for this.

thyroid and wls?
I lost my thyroid due to cancer. I am and will continue medicine for that forever. I am 5 months post op and down 66 lbs. my medicine for this was reduced and was told possibly reduced more as weight comes off.

Did you cheat on your pre-op liquid diet?
I definitely did not cheat at all. This is way too important. You are trying to shrink the fat around the liver so the surgeon can easily move your liver out of the way to do the surgery on stomach. You can do this, many of us have done it. Drink more liquids and think of how good thinner will feel and I can tell you it DOES!!!

headaches
What's done is done. Do what you can to get the liquid in. Get a PPI (acid blocker). Once you are hydrated you will feel so much better. With an acid blocker you will be able to drink without pain. Do it, try.

headaches
Are you taking a PPI? What did your dr say? You should not feel like this at 1 month out. You should be starting to feel a lot better. Make your dr address these issues before you go back.

Post-operation swollen
After surgery my stomach was very swollen and looked like a mountain range ( it went up an down and looked like craters in places). I did not put clothes on that early so I don't know if they were tight. I stayed in robes. If you are in pain or really concerned call your doctor.

Buh-bye Fat Clothes
Looks like the stack I had a few weeks ago. It took my husband 4 trips to the car for us to take to st Vincent DePaul. Now my closet looks like I have no clothes and really I only have about 6-7 outfits. But that is enough for me.

Waiting on the Calendar...
Rtd210. I was the same way as you early out but let me warn you. I am 5 months out now and the horrible cravings are back. At 3 months I introduced crackers to my diet and that is all it took. Then a bite of bread a few of DH fries. Then a taste of his dessert or ice cream. This past week has been a disaster. I have grazed on all the wrong things. Today I literally threw up because of all I ate and I have not thrown up at all during the whole 5 months. I hope this was enough for me to start anew. I was so angry with myself. Just warning everyone that it is so easy to get back into our old habits.

I am a CARBOHOLIC sure enough. I also can not eat just one of anything sweet or salty. It is a curse but we have to learn to live with it the best we can. I wish u knew an answer, I would share. The only answer is to not take the first bite. If you find another PLEASE share with me.

Weight gain
You must watch what you eat forever. The sleeve gives you restriction but if you eat chips, popcorn or other snack foods they seem to go right thru. You must portion your food and follow all thr rules. Count cal and carbs. This is a lifelong process for us overweight people. Also some people go back to grazing. Which means they eat every hour and that will definetly put weight back on. On a positive note, if you follow the rules you will lose weight faster than you could ever imagine. I am 66 and 5 months out and down 66 lbs. I have not exercised because of pain issues. So for me and many of us it is such a fast change that your mind does not catch up. I would do it all over again. My butt has gotten smaller and my husband is always commenting on that. Best of luck to you. You will do fine.
