expectations
You went thru a lot. I had no complications and felt awful and in terrible pain for the first week. It slowly got better over time and I am almost 5 months out now. Major surgery, takes time to recover.

Tomorrow is my sleeve day and the first day of emotional healing..
Lucky to have a very understanding and supporting husband. Count your blessings. Mine just said to me last night that he was very scared about my surgery. Afraid he would lose me. It has been 5 months ago and he says this now. Best of luck to you.

You are in my prayers. You have gone thru hell on earth. Please accept what has happened to you and go on for your own healing.

Silly question really
Oh yes you will be cold. I have only lost 63 lb and I am cold most of the time. I wear heavy robe to bed now where before I wore nothing. Sweating is a thing of the past for me.

Asking for support and prayers
Oh sweetie, I am old enough to be your mother and I know they only mean well. Please tell them how there comments are hurting you, they do not realize. Tell them for you to be successful they must not watch every bite you take. I hope you are having this surgery for yourself and not them. This is a life changing decision. So whatever is bothering you, make a list, sit them down and go over it. At least it will be all out in the open and maybe they will change their comments. Best of luck. Show them this post to get started.

nine months out and acid
Are you eating greasy foods?

My hairs falling out :'(
I just started using frutis fall fight shampoo and conditioner. So far less strands in my comb. I sure hope this works. It has biotin in it and the bariatric vitamins have 150 per cent of biotin everyday. The vitamins were not working but this shampoo seems to be. Will let everyone know after a few weeks.

How much weight did you loose pre-op?
I lost 15 on pre op liquid diet but I did not cheat at all during this two weeks. I had a lot of food funerals before that and did not lose a lb.

So far, so good. some questions though
3 nutritional visits take 3 months. During this 3 months you will be put thru many tests and I mean many. Then when you get approved thru insurance it is up to how busy your surgeon is. I started June 28 and finally had surgery Nov 28. 5 months.

Choking on Acid
I take omniprazle, not spelled right but you get the picture. He started me on 40 mg ans I had him reduce it to 20. It works great. Must take it at least an hour before eating. I usually take it in the early morning really early when I get up to use the bathroom maybe 4 or 5 am.

Post Before and After Pics I want to See Results!
My goodness the loss has taken years off your appearance. Adahlia, you look at least 20 years younger. Karen, you are just beautiful. I surely hope I can do as well.

Clothes - clothes and more clothes
My the way has anyone noticed how clothes are getting bigger and they put a small size on them. When I weighed 140 lb I wore a 14. My granddaughter weighs 180 lb and wears a 14. So I guess all my hoopla about being in an XL is really like being in a 1X back in the day.

Clothes - clothes and more clothes
Yesterday I decided to go shopping. I have bought a few things that fit me but you can count them on one hand. I brought home a bag full, things were on sale and a good price. I hate to try on in store so I bring it home. Usually most of it goes back. I bought all XL. I wore a 24 5 months ago and can not remember when I ever and I mean ever wore an XL. I tried them all on and they all fit wonderfully. I couldn't believe how little I looked. Then I did the unthinkable. I took everything that was in my cupboard and folded it up for the thrift store. Today I took it there. All my big clothes are gone. I have hardly anything in my closet clothes wise but I have enough until I lose another 45 lbs and the XL are all baggy. What an NSV this was for me.

Im an emotional disaster :(
I eat off of everyone's plate. All are willing to share a little something. I just did that the other night for a birthday. I ordered nothing and tasted all kinds of different foods. We eat so little that it is ludicrous to order a big meal for us and I am 5 months out. As far as the crying goes, you recently went thru a major operation and your hormones are all over the place. Give it a couple more weeks and this sadness will be but a distant memory.

Weight gain six weeks out...
Calories need to be increased. Your metabolism is shutting down. My nutritionalist said up to 1200 a day. I don't exercise due to physical problems but I am still losing. Most days I am around 1000 cal.

Care after surgery
They don't want you to drive because of the pain medicine. If you do not need pain meds you should be good to go. But check with doctor first.

Primary and secondary
I had Medicare and fed BCBS and I paid for nothing including all the pre op testing. I was very fortunate . I pay quite a bit for premiums, 540 a month, so theoretically I will pay in the next few years.

Low iron levels!
I called my nutritionalist yesterday about the blood work I had 2 weeks ago. She apparently had not looked at it before and got it out and said everything looked OK. I said are you sure? Then she said oh your Iron is low. Told me some kind of iron pill to take. I already take 3 bariactric Vitamins that have 3 times the daily amount. Then I did some research and got out my cast iron skillet and sauce pan. I needed these when my husband went thru chemo and I researched to help keep his iron levels up. Has anyone else had low iron levels and what did you do? I will eat high iron foods and use the pans and test again in a couple months. Any suggestions appreciated.

Flabby hams for upper arms
I am your age and my arms are terrible. I am down 63 lbs but have 45 more to go. I will have surgery on. My arms and boobs as long as I am in good enough health. Look for a good plastic surgeon. The scar is under your arm and would only show if you put your arms up. The rest of my body will be held in with spanks.

What did it feel like when you woke up from surgery?
When I woke up, if you want honesty, a lot of horrible pain. It was very bad and for 2 days never gave me anything that made it feel better. He said he had to go thru scar tissue and this was the incision that they pulled the stomach out of. Maybe that is why mine was so bad. I had no gas pain though, I was spared that.

6 month checkup
I am.66 and have the same problem. I was on 150 units of insulin, I took 4 times a day plus 2000 metforin. Now on same metforin but down to 30 units of insulin. I am 4 1/2 months out and down 63 lbs. stopped the cholesterol medicine and will check numbers in 2 months. Did the surgery mainly to get off of insulin and endo says it may still work as more weight comes off. I have not exercised yet due to pain. I need to find some kind of exercise I can do. How many months out are you? Are you on insulin? Do you exercise? Keep in touch, not many of us older ones.

Gastric Sleeve Surgery - What My Doc Told Me to Expect
Joatsaint, are you just having surgery or according to your stats you had it in December. Are you male or female? I am just full of questions. Best of luck either way.

Change of clothes?
I hate to tell you but I am 4 1/2 months out and still have the runs daily. Every once in awhile I have regular movement. I go once or twice a day. For me it is usually after I eat when I start to drink about an hour after. I also carry change of clothes in my car and a towel and wash cloth. I've had some bad experiences when in the car. It is like out of the blue it comes on. Sugar has nothing to do with it in my case. Before Breakfast this morning I had the runs after drinking 3 cups Water. Then I ate 1/2 apple with Peanut Butter and went 3 more times, but I am home and it is not a problem. I need to bring this up to the doctor. I have not been able to associate it with any certain food.
