  1. I agree with this! It's ok to heal and do nothing! Please take this time for yourself to try and not be a superhero. Easier said than done since I suffer from this superhero disorder as well. Take some deep breaths, reserve your energy, cry if you must (its cleansing), and be very, very kind to yourself. I promise...every day from here will get better and easier! Sending good thoughts your way!
  2. Boil some ginger root and drink the broth. This will help. Feel better!
  3. They just want to make good and sure you have proper healing time. I know it's frustrating.

Being scared is normal! I obsessed about the rules and everything I thought I would have to give up, but when your banded and following the rules...you realize you aren't really giving up that much....but what you are gaining is so much more! Congrats and good luck!
  5. Not the only one. Hunger comes back with a vengeance. Mine came back about 8 days post op. Unfortunately...this is where the mental work begins. Its mostly sheer will and want power until you can have your band properly adjusted.
  6. Had mine done on Friday. I had alot of anxiety for nothing! It was done before I even knew it. I said to the doctor, "that was it"? He said.."yup". I said well then I am bummed because I thought it would be more dramatic. He said, "sorry to disappoint you." LOL....you'll be fine! My fill made alot of difference so far. Good luck.
  7. Yes...pre-op for me was the hardest part! But necessary and helpful for being after banded. For me...it was a mental game. I wouldn't think of it as 11 days (it might as well have been 11 years for me). I only told myself that I CAN do it for TODAY. Can you do this for today? You already have 4 days in...the answer is...yes you can! You already are. Congrats on your decision. Keep up the good work.

Excellent! And sounds delicious. Did you use whole wheat elbow macaroni or something else?
  9. I have read that some get the surgery pre-baby because ther weight is making them infertile. You only need to lose a small amount of weight to get your hormones back in gear. It would be easier to lose some weight first or you may struggle just to get pregnant all together. Good luck on your decision!
  10. Wow!! Good for you. Congrats!!
  11. If you start not feeling comfortable with your surgeon....make sure you interview a few. It's important to feel comfortable. This journey is an emotional one......learn as much about the journey as you can. Good luck!
  12. It's the small things that are improving around us that we need not forget! The scale doesn't always tell the story! Congrats!
  13. Some wise bandsters told me to have patience during this time. This is something I had to work at very hard. But they are right....don't panic....have patience. Keep on keeping on.
  14. Wow! Great article. Thanks for sharing.
  15. I am about 7 weeks post op and I promise...you will feel better and better each day! Congrats on your journey. Keep a positive attitude and be a little patient. I wasn't promised this would be easy...just worth it!
  16. Wow! Incredible blog! Thank you for sharing this very intimate time with us. Today I looked in the mirror after reading your post and asked the question. Today I am an optimist and if tomorrow it's the other......I will choose "the optimist". I lost my Mom to ovarian cancer 4 years ago, and like your Mom so eloquently stated. "We are ok...but we will never be the same." Good thoughts and intentions for you and your beautiful Mother.
  17. Let us know what the doc says. It could be that your weight loss is allowing the tube to shift. Try not to panic until you speak to your doc. Was the esophagus issue due to being too tight?
  18. Call your doc and have them check for an infection. Feel better soon.
  19. I had this feeling up until about 3 weeks post op. I didn't really call it "stuck" as I didn't PB or have it come back up. It did just sit there for a few minutes. It is frustrating....but now is the time to eat very slowly (even pudding, yogurt, etc.) Learn the signals from your body. Hiccups, burping. For me it's a small burp sensation. This is your body telling you to put away what your eating. My head doesn't always want to accept this but my body is the boss now. Everyday will get better and better and then you will realize that it can hold more and more food and then another mental battle will ensue. Be patient! You are doing great!
  20. I know it was a rough week but WOW...you had super hero willpower! Congrats for that!

This brought me to tears. Thank you for sharing your eloquent words.
  22. David, I am in awe of your accomplishments! Thank you for your kind words, encouragement, and sharing your success. It means the world to early banded folks like me!
  23. My anesthesiologist put me at complete ease when he said I put my life at greater risk getting in my car every morning than having something happen during this surgery. It will be fine. I was super nervous too. You will get through it.......it will be great. Congrats on your decision!
  24. Maybe more of a question for your nutritionist but I would imagine it would be things like mashed potato's, refried beans, yogurt (without thinning with milk), etc.
