  1. Well I do feel so much better to hear its normal! Everyone else I asked around here who had it done didn't remember having to have to do it that long, main reason I felt like I misunderstood or something! So I appreciate all of the responses! Of course I'll be sticking with my dr orders, a little easier now though now that I know I'm not alone in the long waiting period after surgery!!
  2. I Feel a little on my own about this subject and possibly misguided. I was banded last Monday the 18th and had to do three weeks liquid diet before. Ok, I get that part, even though from what I've been reading, that seems like a lot longer than most other people. So originally I was told one week liquid after surgery, that I also get. On the day of surgery though, i was then told no mushie foods until my post op appointment which is July 3, over two weeks after surgery. At first I was just like ok, two more weeks of liquids, I survived three what's two more. Now it's the end of week one and I feel like I could scream I'm so tired of carnation instant breakfast and strained cream soups! Does this seem right to everyone? I feel like I should call the doctors to make sure I'm understanding it all correctly!!!
  3. I'm 6 days post op, feeling better each day I have some port pain, and a sore abdomen. Other than that, today I'm feeling great! It will get better each day and definitely be worth it in the end.
  4. That should say stay strong lol!
  5. I felt horrible the second day too. Today's the third day for me and it's getting better! Stat string, it will get better!
  6. I Feel like I've been posting a lot lately lol! Had my surgery yesterday morning and got my period yesterday, 10 days early. Anyone else experience this or know if this is something to be concerned about?
  7. Had my surgery this morning also, was doing great until tonight. Gas pains getting worse, doing a lot of walking and breathing exercise, has x strips, and it's not helping yet. When people are saying they stay ahead of the pain, are you taking more pain medicine than the recommended 4 hours?
  8. Thanks for the replies! I'll try and walk more, I bet that will help. Courtney's mom, did you have trouble getting the gas out the first day? I think what my issue is I'm afraid to try push it out because of my sore abdomen, tmi I'm sorry!
  9. I'm twelve hours post op and having issues getting the gas out. I know this is a big problem for most, but I could really use some advice. I've taken 4 gas x strips so far and not much help. Is this something that doesn't get better the first day? Or should I stop being so impatient and just left the gas x do it's magic? Lol
  10. Yikes! They really should go over how it's not as effective! I heard that once but not from them, must have been on a website. I'll have to look into switching to something else after ASAP! Thanks for the replies!
  11. I have my surgery at 730 tomorrow morning and I can't believe I forgot to ask if my birth control pills are ok to take after the band!!! I know most things they want chewable, but dies anyone know if tiny birth control pills are ok? Especially the day of surgery? I'll ask in the morning when I'm there, but I'd like to ease my racing mind tonight as I lay in bed lol!
  12. Yes definately call! When I called a week after being submitted, she got back to me and said it was lucky she called and checked with the insurance because they said they never got it!! She told them they needed to put a rush on it right away, I still didn't hear back for 4 more days. When I did hear back, I learned they had known for 3 days but were moving to a new office and were not able to call AHHH! Lol, don't they know we're waiting on pins and needles! They say not to call, but if I would not have called who knows how long it would have taken to hear back!
  13. I'll be right there with you, I have mine tomorrow at 7:30 AM tomorrow!! Good luck!
  14. I'm looking forward to being able to ride rides at an amusement park again last time I was there, I didn't fit anymore.
  15. For me the thing that kept my mind of cheating was the thought of being sewn up and sent home if my liver wasted small enough lol. I have to do three weeks and I'm on day 19, surgery is Monday! I did the usual 5 protein shakes, low sodium broth, sf popsicles, and sf jello (only made one box, not really a fan of jello!) you'll be fine! Just remember why you have to do it!
  16. The thought of them sewing me back up and sending me home because my liver was too big, was enough to scare me into knowing from day 1 that I would not cheat even a little bit! Even if the risk is small, I was not about to take that risk. I would say for me, the 4th day was the hardest! I've practiced doing it for 3 days off and on to get a feel for what it would be like, so when I actually started it and that 4th day hit...I went a little crazy! Then it got better, and now it just feels normal. I'm on day 18 of a three week liquid diet, and I'm definately tired of it...but it feels normal, if that makes any sense!
  17. I posted a similar topic last night because I'm day 18 of a three week liquid diet and I've only lost 9 pounds. 8 the first week, which is mainly water weight I'm sure, 1 pound the next week, and so far this week i've been up and down one pound. So I feel your frustration! I personally have never at any regular food since 7 PM the day before my liquid diet! I've been determinded to stick with it and not let myself cheat even a little bit, I've even tried to get back into a daily exercise routine that I've let myself slip out of the past couple of weeks. So to me, it's super frustrating to be working so hard and suffering through this miserable liquid diet, with little results. Everyone keeps reasurring me that it will happen and to not let myself be discouraged. I'm going to start tracking my measurements too, because a lot of people say there will be success from loosing inches even when you're not losing pounds.
  18. I'm also on a just protein drink and no calorie liquid diet. It's the carnation instant breakfast in the blue box with protein mixed in. I honestly meant it when i say i never cheated and ate real food (i did in my dreams a lot though lol!) I even have been getting at least 15-30 min of exercise in, which I know isn't a lot but it has to be better than nothing! It's just frustrating.
  19. Hi! I'm new to the forum so I apologize if this is a common question. I have my surgery on Monday the 18th and am doing a three week liquid diet before. The first week I lost 8 pounds, the second week one pound, and now it's Wednesday of the third week and I'm back up a pound. Has anyone else experienced this? It really makes me worried that maybe the surgery won't work if I can't even lose weight not eating at all!! And no, I've never cheated and are real food. Any thoughts?
