  1. My doctor said its a must, to get a reduction before flying. The cabin pressure will make the diaphragm to enlarge.
  2. Love me some Monster iced tea and lemonade.
  3. Hit it and quit it. Then they can be "friends"
  4. Well said. Thanks. I just more men would post on this site.
  5. Just wondering if your friends think you are a sissy because you got a lap band. I'm finding some friends of mine think I'm wasting my time going to the gym and eating anything but cheeseburgers, hot wings and drinking beer. I have a hunting buddy who insist on trying to feed me things I can't eat. I can eat dried deer steak and biscuits and gravy anymore. He laughs and tells me to MAN UP. I've explained many times I just physically cannot eat that stuff anymore. I pack my own food for the hunting trips but he just ignores me.
  6. Try buying P90X, insanity, Ty-Bo or any other workout program off Craigslist or eBay. You should be able to pick them up for less than $50. You might want to try the library for a book. Excersise for Dummies. Also, only work 2 body parts a day. I E, biceps and shoulders one day, legs and back the next, triceps and chest the next. I'd suggest investing in a calorie counter/heart rat monitor to. That way you will always k ow you are in the zone and working.
  7. Thanks for the help. I watched about a dozen transformation videos on YouTube. It's helping.
  8. I travel for my job and the P90X allows me to do the work outs in my hotel room. I just need the motivation to get restarted.
  9. That's good to know about the 25 grams.
  10. Ive been doing P90X for about 8 weeks and I had to take a couple weeks off due to fatigue an muscle strain. I've found my motivation is zero to restart the program tomorrow. HELP!! B
  11. When people ask me what the secret is and knowing they'd never take the challenge of lap band, (and yes, it is a challenge). I tell them I do 1 hour of P90X, a hour of Spin class, another hour of weights, eat less than a 1,000 calories a day, then another hour of yoga on the evening. Then I ask them of they'd like to join me one day. Oh yeah, I work 80 hours a week.
  12. When at a restaurant I find the lowest calorie lowest fat item on the menu. I order it and take home at least 1/2. With my job it's nice to re-heat a good meal instead of relyin on fast food.
  13. I'm in San Antonio. Banded 9-20-11. Down 80 pounds.
  14. I eat 800-1000 calories a day. I've found that eating good food sometimes it's hard to get to 1,000 calories. I workout daily with P90X and do a spin class 3 times a week too. Sure I'm drained by the end of the day but that ensures good sleep for recovery for the next day. I also don't have a "work schedule" per say. I work on call and everyday is different. I eat a lot of Tuna for my Protein. I munch on raw veggies through out my day or night whatever the case may be. I'll eat a couple of eggs for Breakfast. If you feel a need for a energy boost try a low calorie energy drink.
  15. I have UHC and the 6 months was waived. No diet plan either.
  16. After a 15 hour shift your post made my day. I've been banded since 9-20-11 and wish I'd done it 10 years earlier. It's all good. I look forward to reading your bloggity blog.
  17. In had my surgery on a Wednesday and went to work Sunday. You can check the FMLA requirements and then by federal law they cannot refuse then time off
  18. If your insurance requires a 6 month wait and you have other health problems i.e. Diabetes or high blood pressure they may wave the 6 month wait. I WAS diabetic and my initial appointment was 8-10-11 and insurance said 6 months. We resubmitted and I was approved and had surgery 9-20-11.
  19. Where are you doing the muddier this year?
  20. I am not a pastors wife but I am a lay preacher in our church here in San Antonio. I've made it known to our church I've had the lap band as many in our church would benefit from this type of surgery. The only time I'm sad that I've had this procedure is when we have a potluck. As a chef/baker I get ambushed with request for the next potluck. If you look at my picture I'm holding a Snickers bar cheesecake from a few months ago. Yesterday it was a from scratch German chocolate Cake and a banana Eclair Cake. I get one bite just to make sure it's edible. LOL Next month I've been commisioned to smoke a brisket so we can have brisket taco's. One member said she'd make the tortilla's. Anyways, I just found this Christian section of the site and this is where I'll be looking for support.
  21. I wish I had done it when I was 35 instead of 45. The "dieting" part really doesn't bother me at all. I like eating healthy so I don't consider it a diet. A good rule I follow is, if what I'm eating comes out of a wrapper that makes a crinkle sound I don't eat it, ie, little debbie's, Cheeto-o's, Taco Bell. I don't worry about sugars and carbs in fruit. I figure I need the Vitamins. I'm on a plateau now and it's frustrating at times not seeing the scale move but I know I'm doing good because the clothes are getting looser and looser.
  22. I'm in San Antonio. The gas post op pain is akin to feeling like you just woke up and you did 100 sit ups the day before. If you have a lap dog, apologize before surgery because Fido won't have his spot for a few days. (me, my lap dog weighs 80lbs, she looked so sad). After day 3 it started to get better. I had my surgery on a Thursday and went to work Sunday. I'm a engineer on the railroad so the rocking back and forth on the train 4 days post op wasn't bad. 9 months has passed and I forget I have the band.
  23. I eat any and all fruits. However, I've doin some fruits go down easier than others. I have to make sure they are very well chewed before swallowing though. Pineapple I have to literally nibble on. If I try to eat a regular bite and chew well it still doesn't want to go down.
  24. I was banded 9-20-11. For the first couple Of months I was very well aware that I've been banded. Just the idea of it there was my drive to succeed at this. Now, most of the time I forget I even have it. When I go Out to eat it is just natural to order healthier foods and foods of smaller portions. Like everything else this is a roller coaster. Some days it's a uphill struggle and other days it's a down hill breeze. You've made the decision to change your life and everyday achieve your goal for the day.
  25. I eat round 1,000 a day. 80 grams of Protein, 60 grams of carbs and 20 grams of fat. Some days I'll splurge and eat a avocado and that'll kick the calorie count to about 1300.
