Compliment? I Think Not..,

Recommended Posts

I am soooo tired of people telling me how I " look better"! Wow did I really look that bad? To me its not a compliment at all! I wish people would choose their words wisely!

I also get a little "miffed" when I hear how much better I look. I didn't think I was that bad before!

I know exactly how you feel !! Im tired of people asking me " so, how much have you lost ?"

And there's others that haven't seen me in a while and they are " :o OMG you lost so much weight "

Makes me feel awkward ...

They have every good intention behind it. Dont read into it as a negative thing. I get told all the time that I look thinner and that I look great, I dont take offense to it. Choose your reaction and choose not to be offended by it. It will change your whole outlook on things

I'm completely aware of how bad I looked prior to starting the weight loss journey. When people make this comment to me, I am genuinely happy to hear that the change is noticeable to others. Compliments are compliments in my book. Saying you look BETTER isn't necessarily saying you looked horrible before, just that there's a difference, and we all honestly know there is. :)

Its a touchy subject but I agree with tigereyes. Take it as a compliment. Its either that or have no one comment at all and then you'll wonder why no one has noticed your change/ hard work!

Well I look a lot better with 1 chin then 3 .... I used to be in denial about how fat I was until I would catch a glimpse of myself in a glass door or mirror while out shopping it was enough to ruin the day.

Post op and weight loss I saw someone in a tv monitor while standing in line at CVS and I thought oh she has the same shirt on as me..................... it was me. *I looked okay before I was well put together for a fat lad y... now People compliment me on my outfit not my jewelry They tell fat folks to wear Jewelry to bring the eye up now they can even look down. YAY so keep telling me I look better I love it and I earned it.............

I doubt I would have undergone this major surgery if it wasn't going to change how I looked... and hopefully for the MUCH BETTER!!!!! Please, please, people notice so I'll know all this hard work wasn't for nothing! Oh, well, and the health benefits, too!

Kinda goes back to the saying.

We can lose weight....

But you Can't fix Stupid! Majority of people do not think before they speak.

I love the attention. I was over 400 pounds and I do look way different and those compliments just remind me that I am making a change so big everyone can see it. Bring on the compliments cause it's only logical I look better without 2 chins 2 cheeks and size 40W pants !

Out of everyone there's one friend who won't say nothing!

Or a whole family that won't say anything! I could lose 70 pounds and not a single one of my in-laws will say a word!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
