Still Cant Eat
Ugh! That's terrible! I only have that problem with eggs and whey protein. The smell of both make me vomit immediately! Hope it gets better soon.

One Piece Of Advice?
Once you can start eating...chew...chew...chew and eat SLOW! I've learned the hard way. Best of luck!!!

Still Cant Eat
If you are chewing good and eating slow and it's still happening...I would call the doctor....just to be sure! Hope you feel better soon.

How Much Is Too Much Sugar Post-Op Diet?
You may want to check with your doctor but I was allowed cream soups in my liquid phase. As long as they were the Healthy Request and I strained them.

Need Answer!
I did have complications after surgery and had to be moved to ICU but please know it had NOTHING to do with the surgery. I am a type 1 diabetic and had complications due to that. I would do it over and have no regrets! No worries you will be just fine!!

Oddball!
I worry about the same thing. I had complications in the hospital but after that I haven't had any issues. Never took pain meds. I can drink fine (I'm just not thirsty). No trouble with any foods except eggs (and that was a problem prior to surgery). The only time I've been sick is bc I ate too fast. I can eat 2-4 ounces depending on what I'm eating. I thought something was wrong with me!

Protein
Me too! Can't do beef or chicken so I used turkey in everything!
-
Protein
Lots of tuna. 2.5 ounces has 16 grams. Turkey sausage and ground turkey and chili without Beans. Oh and cheese. It's been easier because everything was pureed. Now that I've started trying regular foods...I can't eat nearly as much. I try anything possible to keep from drinking Protein shakes. If I absolutely have to...I drink the pre-mixed EAS shakes.

Protein
I am almost 4 weeks out.
-
Protein
I don't do shakes at all...can't stand them. I get at least 70 grams of protein from food (which is what my surgeon requires)! You don't need them as long as you are getting your protein requirements in.

Thoughts On Watermelon And Tortillas

New To The Site Had Surgery On 7/23/12
I absolutely can't do any kind of whey protein. Tried it every way possible. I basically did not get any protein in until I was in the puree stage. Just did liquids and cream soups the first two weeks. The doctor wanted me to get the protein in but since it made me vomit every time they let it slide. It gets better!

Ask Me Anything :-)
I had the same issue. I had complications and gained 13 pounds in the hospital because of the massive amounts of fluids they had to give me. I lost that and then started to retain fluid so I wasn't losing weight at all. They assured me that it was due to the complications and eventually I would start to lose. The doctor was right! Finally this week I started losing a lot. Still worried that it will stop but keeping my fingers crossed that all the complications are behind me! Best of luck!!!

Blood Sugars Going Up
That's great news!!! I have to agree with you...I was doubting my doctor because my weight wasn't coming down. He kept telling me it was due to the complications after surgery but I didn't believe him....thought I was the only person that surgery didn't work for. Now, all of a sudden I am dropping weight like crazy!! Guess they know more than me!

Frustrated
I'm the same way. Not really seeing my weight drop but I can tell in my clothes. I've been frustrated as well!

Blood Sugars Going Up
Right after the surgery I went into diabetic ketoacidosis. I don't remember anything for the first 36 hours and they tell me I'm lucky to be alive. I was in ICU for my entire hospital stay. But my insulin requirements have dropped and they expect them to drop more. I rarely take any fast acting (novalog) prior to meals anymore! Just take 36 units of levimer now. Just like you....down from 100 units or more!

Sex
Waited two weeks. No problems at all!

Blood Sugars Going Up
My blood sugars went up extremely high after surgery. I had to go on an insulin drip in the hospital. Stayed elevated for about the first week. I'm type 1 so I will always be on insulin. However, I'm in a normal range now and and usually only take my slow release insulin....rarely require any fast acting so it does get better!
