I haven't had surgery yet. It's scheduled for August 23rd. So no pounds coming off yet. But yes, while I'm changing, either his attitude can or his address can!

Thank you all so much for your kind thoughts, words of encouragement and prayers! I did manage to get some sleep (about 4 hours) before surgery but had a minor panic attack in pre-op, so much so that they had to give me a sedative.
But, for all of that my surgeon said I was an easy and pleasant subject My nurses were SO supportive, and got to know me and my husband personally. I got to leave the hospital today! I haven't eaten solid food in three days but I'm not hungry--and no heart burn! It's magic I tells ya!

I forgot who said it in someone elses post about how their friend was being unsupportive and rude, but in not so much reference to that; you're losing the pounds so why not lose the people/situations that aren't supporting that positive thing in your life?
Not suggesting you should get a divorce, but LET HIM KNOW that his unsupportive behavior is not cool and that he should try to be more understanding of where you are coming from instead of being such a jerk about the whole situation. Tell him you don't have room for all that negativity!

I'm going to play devils advocate because....well I always do lol
I made my partner swear to secrecy as well - for a long time. I let her tell her family when I decided it was time. The truth? She needed them.
I wrapped my life up into having surgery. Every free day was spent at doctors appointments, making sure insurance was doing things properly, and I was completely consumed. I made life about me....and therefore I made my partners life about me too. WE focused on getting me healthy.
I didn't realize until after surgery how scared she was - How worried she was for my health and how our children would react to it. She needed people like her family to turn to in her difficult moments.
I am not saying what he did was right - because I would have been angry as well. I'm just speaking from my experiences.

I've had and continue to have very little issues with gas after surgery day. However, when I do have an issue, 2 Gas X strips do the trick. Hope you blow your hubby out of the house soon! :-)

Failure reacted to DebiC in Ok Everyone, What Did You Buy?
I bought the Gas-X strips and Beano (never needed either). I bought beef and chicken Soup base (more flavor than bouillion). Spicy Top Ramens (prepared as directed-gave away noodles drank broth). Apple Juice/White grape juice. Tons of finely crushed ice (some people have trouble with ice after-but i didn't). Jello. I don't do artificial sweeteners but if you do then Crystal Light's are nice to have around. Herbal Teas. My doctor started us on Soft foods very soon after surgery-so I bought some Soups I could puree easily and also refried Beans.< /p>
I did buy some ramekins to cook/heat/serve smaller portions of food in. Prepared or served in regular bowls makes it look like you are being deprived. I did use baby spoons for a day or so then switched ot regular.

medloanfinance.com is 11.99% but has no interest for 6-21 months special or some crap. Care credit has a program that if you pay within 6 to 18 months you hav 0 interest but other repayment plans are 14.99% interest. Surgeryloans.com is 5.9% to 18.9% depending on loan amount, credit check, etc. I think all of them probably are based on amount needed and your credit and how long you want to take for the repayment.

My first SIP wasn't painful just nasty! It was that ink for the upper GI test.
I had the drain while in hospital, they removed it before discharge.
Went back to work a week later, two week anniversary today and feeling great!
Follow the plan and WALK...it gets better

Hey guys, Unjury is wonderful! If you google body by Vi recipes. Gives you a list of over 50 shakes you can make, just replace their Protein powder with the unjury (the best protein, bar none). I am 4 weeks post op today! Loving my decision!

Failure reacted to NisaletOAM in This Is Why I Trust The Sleeve (Long Story)
Sorry a bit long but interesting to know: When my mother was 15 years old she almost past away due to a bleeding ulcers they had to take her immediately to the ER with internal bleeding she almost past away this was in 1970 in those days a sleeve did not even exist. The doctors did not give my mother much hope but did the best they could. They remove the lower part of her stomach because it was completely destroyed and with that they had to also remove the part of the stomach that absorbed Iron and basically left her with the top part of stomach in the shape of what is called now a "sleeve". mind you this was all stiched by had, it was an open surgery no laparascopy and no staple line to secure anything. The doctors informed my grandma and grandpa they did the best possible and did not guarantee she would make it now it was a waiting game.
By the grace of God my mother had no leaks she healed quickly but had a very horrible time holding down anything because at that point in time they did not have a procedure to follow like we have now with the sipping and walking and eating slow and chewing your food. They told my grandma strart with broth and see how to tolerates it.
long story short she had a normal life other than always having Iron defeciency afer she had me I still remember her having discomfort from eating to much but nothing mayor. she was always 110-125 no more than that flash foward to now. she eats more yes way more than before and is now at her highest weight ever 140 she has never been able to gain more than that. I told my surgeon this and he said "so basically your mother had a kind of "sleeve" per say before it even existed and now she will be your role model to follow" my mother before that surgery was always a chubby kid but after she was always thin.
This is why I am more than positive about getting this surgery I know that "IT DOES WORK" and in the long term after all these years it stil works for my mother, yes I will gain some weight but I can lose it more easily like my mother does and I will be able to maintain it even though it was technically not the same surgery like my surgeon said it's the same concept and it works.
Just tought I would share this to give a little encouragement to does who are PRE-OPS like me and need it because I have my ups and downs with this 6 month process but I WILL NOT GIVE UP I'm hoping to be approve and start my new life in october.

Welcome to the group. It's also a full online website too with blogging capability. I couldn't find the blog part of the app but maybe that's just me being incapable of finding it, haha! I'm glad you got it figured out with your insurance and hope everything goes swimmingly!

Im currently 5'6 319lbs and just got news that my surgery date will be june 25th. Im excited because I had to go thru so many extra things due to me suffering from bipolar and my insurance not wanting to approve me because of that. I am nervous about the actual surgery and the lifetime maintenence I will have to make to my diet. I am so happy to have found this app.

If by any chance Mexico does not work out, feel free to contact me. I just got approved financing for my surgery to be done in the US and if you can afford the payments per month then it's perfect. If you don't have good credit they let you put co-signers in so it's not a huge deal as long as you can pay the monthly repayment. I have recently discovered a lot more US surgeons for bariatric are doing this medical financing thing because it's easier for patients without insurance, or insurance that won't cover it.

Thank you to everyone that gave well wishes, prays, and hands to hold during the time of concern and upset. After reworking some numbers and getting to the bottom of things, we were able to get coverage for $15,000! That only leaves $3k out of pocket which is perfect! It's very low monthly payment, too. I was surprised. And it's only for 4 years! Pretty awesome.
I am so stoked it's not even funny! My consultation next Monday will go on and within the next 60 days I will have my surgery. OMG IS THIS HAPPENING?!!?!

I start my options class with Kaiser tomorrow. I am excited. I know that I have lost a little weight since my orientation on the 17th, but I am going to weight to update my info until after my weigh-in at my class. I can not wait to be through this class.
I also got good news today. After my surgery I will be getting more hours at work because one of the girls is leaving and I will get her position =) I was expecting to hear that news anytime, so I am so excited. Things are finally starting to look up. This also means that I may have to push for a sooner surgery date to make sure that I am healed before she goes. Lets hope my insurance works with me xxfingers crossedxx

I was just thinking the same thing about the Protein drinks. Everyone says it was sort of trial and error, so I could work on finding the kind I like. My NUT said not to try to lose any weight, but to just start focusing on getting the 64oz of Water and exercise 3 days a week. This is going to drive me nuts the next couple of months. Just approve me already!
