My doctor doesn't use a drain and he trained at UT medical school. He does single incision gastric sleeve and robotic sleeves. Not everyone needs a drain, it's a case by case situation or should be. Some surgeons take the cookie-cut route, and do everything the same way for every patient, whether they need it or not.

Wow, these are great answers. Everybody is doing some pretty high intensity stuff. I guess it's time to put my game face on, and get to it.

I work a day job Mon-Wed, and nights Thurs, Fri, & Sat. When I work nights, I drink one bottle on the way, one at break, one at lunch, and one on the way home. That's 68oz, so anything more is icing on the cake. I drink 1/2 G2 and 1/2 Water . For some reason, water hurts.

Yeah, it's called a Bair Hugger gown. I heard a nurse created it, she was probably tired of going to get warm blankets for the patients. I know how she felt. Most hospitals have them now, since regulating temp decreases risk of infection and helps keep pain under control. Congratulations on your big day, and I wish you a speedy recovery!

I can't drink plain water, it hurts too much. I do a mix of 1/2 G2, and 1/2 water in a water bottle. It cuts the calories and carbs of plain G2, and it's not too sweet. I drink at least 4 bottles of the 16.9 oz water bottles (68oz). I usually drink more, because I work out for an hour and a half most days, so I can drink 2 while at at the gym. I prepare the bottles ahead of time, and this has been the easiest way for me to track my fluids. Once I really started paying attention to this, it seems like the weight is coming off quicker. Good Luck!

I have seen this discussion on a lot of forums. Moderation vs. strict. The people who do well with moderation are those who have the self-control to stop at one or two of the treats like chocolate or candy or ice cream or what have you. The ones who don't do well can't stop at one or two. They have to eat until they are stuffed. Those people do well with being strict. One lady I have seen said she does moderation with FOODS SHE CAN CONTROl. For example, she will eat crackers or chips because she is satisfied with just a few. BUT, she cannot moderate ice cream so she doesn't even buy it or bring it in her home. She just won't eat it period. So there is strict--there is moderation---and there is moderation of foods that you CAN control. I think it just takes figuring out what you personally need to do.

Ready4success reacted to O.T.R. sleever in Can You Shrink Your Sleeve?
Well, I'm pretty good at being hard on people, but that really is only needed to wake up someone that has fallen asleep at the wheel. You on the others hand seem to be well aware of what is going on, you just need to decide when you've had enough. Once you've decided that, then you've got to be willing to put the work in to get back on track.
The great news is that your body is an amazing thing. IF you have stretched your sleeve your can shrink it back to its normal size. Keep in mind it's normal size is bigger than it was at 6-8 months post op. you fully healed sleeve could be as much as 10oz.
Now here's the hard part, in order for your sleeve to shrink, you cannot fill it up. You are going to have to go back to basics, a liquid/soft diet for a couple weeks isn't a bad idea, but for sure you are going to have to measure/weigh your portions. Keep your portions @ or below 6oz at a sitting when you are eating. This is not such a big deal with liquids(as I'm sure you already know).
There is really no point in us beating up on you. You need to talk to that woman that watches you brush your teeth and ask her if she has had enough yet, is she willing to do what it takes to fix her problems. I am truly sorry for all the heartache and setbacks you've endured. But the bottom line is there is only one person that can make this happen for you.
Today you need to decide to live like no one else, so that later you can LIVE like NO ONE else.

So far, I've tried it with pico and salsa. I like it with both. It's funny because out of all the diets I'v been on, I could never make myself eat it. I always had to substitute it, but now I eat it everyday.

Go get a tshirt snug enough to be too tight but not impossible to put on or pop the seams and "stretch" it - get a pair of jogging shorts or similar just the same, and try them on.
Now fold the up neatly, and put them away for two weeks.
Eat well, protiens first. Do not "goo" your food and avoid the carbs that are in fatty and processed foods. Take a multi Vitamin and a b Vitamin. Smile alot, because you got this!
sleep - go to sleep the same time each night, and wake up the same time each morning. If you cannot sleep now it the time to address it because sleep is a major factor in many stalls, or at least that is what ALOT of reports are pointing to (yahoo or google "sleep, weight loss - etc).
Now, a crazy thing is going to happen if you are drinking all your Water, taking your Vitamins, making you choices count nuritionally speaking - you are going to shrink...even if tat scale moves no at all, or goes slowly, you weight is going to come off. We retain much more than fat, and a complex amount of things go into how our bodies handle this, but you will get smaller. I dropped a whole size once, with 4lbs total loss. 2 weeks later I dropped almost 10 lbs, but other than TOM Water bloat and loss, I had nothing signifignt happen size-wise.
Now, try on that tshirt and pants....ah-ha!
    You will lose. I promise.

You could stop at the deli, and get some low sodium deli meat or a few pieces of rotisserie chicken. They usually have raw or fresh veggies for a side. I eat on the run a lot too. Drinking Protein Shakes has been a life saver.
