  1. Have you heard back from Cigna? How long has it been since submission?
  2. I have Cigna OAP, but I'm having the hardest time getting the bariatric's office to submit my paperwork. I guess I'll have to double and triple check with Cigna too. I'm glad you got it corrected and it didn't change your date. I would've been pissed if I had done the pre-op diet for nothing.
  3. I just got off of the phone with both offices, and everything was supposedly straightened. I was given the same assurance that I received last Tuesday, that it would be submitted today. We'll see. @Pookey, I asked if I could be e-mailed all the documents that would be sent, the insurance co-ordinator said it's too time consuming to e-mail every patient, but that I could pick up a copy in person. It takes longer to copy something, so how is that less time consuming? She's angry with me, and I really don't care. I've been really nice about the whole thing, considering that I completed all my requirements on June 24th. Almost an entire month has gone by.
  4. For the last week, I've thought I was waiting for approval from Cigna, only to find out today that it hasn't even been submitted. My PCP office says that they faxed over everything week before last, the bariatric office says they never got it, but I called last Tuesday, just to be sure, and they said they had everything and would submit by the end of the day. Un-freaking believable, bunch of freakinh liars. I believe my PCP's office, they are true most helpful, professional people. Plus, why would you lie to me last week, then tell me today, you couldn't submit because the PCP office hasn't sent over the info. Pissed.
  5. I'm still going through the insurance process. I started this journey in April and I'm waiting for Cigna to approve me. Although I have enough money in my savings to be a self-pay, I know my insurance covers it, so I'll wait. I didn't get this big in 5 months, so waiting 5 months for surgery is no biggie. If anything changes, I'll be a self-pay with my current surgeon.
  6. I'm an OR nurse, so I've watched in person plenty of times. I think it's a good idea to see what you're going to experience, but if you're one of those people who feels "ignorance is bliss", then don't. I'm one of those people who has to look when someone is drawing my blood, starting an IV, or giving me a shot, but that's just me. I have to know.
  7. My psych eval was really easy going. They ask about previous attempts at weightloss, do you exercise, attempts at changing your life style, etc. Probably the most importat thing to say is that you understand that this surgery is a "tool" to help you lose weight. Good Luck!
  8. No, not yet. I was told that my file is complete, and it is being reviewed. I'm so disappointed because I couldn't meet the deadline for work and I'll have to move the surgery back. They'll probably take the entire 30 days, but I'm expecting approval. I'm 36, with a 41 BMI along with diabetes and high blood pressure. I guess I'll be either a September or October sleever. Sucks.
  9. Never had a problem with the guys, so I don't know if I missed out or not. I'm more excited about not being in so much pain after getting off of work, than I am about my new look. I do have to admit, I am excited about all the new clothes I'll be buying, but I rock the plus sized clothing everday anyway. :-)
  10. Wow! You look amazing! Our stats are similiar, so I'm hoping I'll lose quickly like you did. I'm trying to decide how long I'll need before returning to work. I'm a night shift OR nurse and I work compressed weekends, 11p-7a on Thurs, 3p-7a on Fri & Sat. I'm still pre-op, but by Sat., I'm so tired, that I'm miserable. How long after you returned that you felt you were no longer dragging? Also, did you use any energy supplements? Thanks!
  11. I know how you feel, too. I was on a deadline to get scheduled for surgery and to let my job know, so they could find someone to replace me while I'm out. Just found out that I still won't know my date before my schedule at work comes out, so that means I have to wait another whole six weeks schedule to tell my job my date. It sucks, because all of my requirements are complete, just waiting for Cigna to approve me. :-(
  12. You are so right, Cat. Nothing like hearing about someone going through a real trial to make us feel silly about our mundane problems. Tekara, I'm so happy your surgery went well, and that things are looking good for you. Know that everyone here cares about you, and are rooting for you to have a long, happy, healthy life. Hugs
  13. I was just reading through the insurance forum, because I'm pre-op and I'm always on the look-out for info about Cigna. I noticed a thread about someone asking about applying for Medicaid to cover their surgery, and someone made the comment, "I'll just keep my opinion to myself." It hit a nerve and I'm about to go off, so I'll just blame it on the diet. How dare anyone on a SURGICAL WEIGHTLOSS FORUM judge anyone else for trying anything humanly possible to lose weight and better their lives. Really? To anyone who thinks they're better than someone else, take a look in the mirror, hun. You're obese or morbidly obese just like the rest of us. Who cares if you have private insurance, because it may or may not cover wls anyway. Sorry ya'll, but I am a nurse who works in a county hospital, and taking care of the uninsured and under-insured is my passion. That comment just really pissed me off. No one is better than anyone else here, whether you have insurance or not. That was a rude comment made by someone who is so much of a coward, they don't even have a pic of themself on their profile. Ok, I'm stepping off of my pedestal.
  14. Hi, I think you should call no later than Monday afternoon. Some offices only work half day on Fridays, so it may not do you any good by calling tomorrow, but be sure and call Monday. I have Cigna as well, and all of my paperwork was supposed to have been sent today. I'm going to call on Monday to make sure it was sent. I'm calling Cigna first, and if they didn't get it, then I'm calling the surgeon's office. Be your own advocate. No one knows how important this surgery is as much as you do. Good Luck!
  15. Sorry about the disappointment, but glad that you have that horrible band out and you can now start healing. All hope isn't lost, you'll be right back there in 6 months getting your sleeve. Stay positive!
  16. Congratulations! I can picture the fireworks going off behind you for such a huge accomplishment. :-)
  17. Congrats! Glad to hear you're feeling well.
  18. Congrats and good luck on your weight loss! Let us know how you're doing :-)
  19. One of my best friends since 1st grade simply ignores anything I say related to my surgery. The sad part is that we've both been morbidly obese majority of our lives. She had RNY back in 2001, when we were in our early 20s, and I supported her all the way, even though I didn't think the surgery was for me. I went to some of her appointments with her and visited her in the hospital after surgery. I had already moved away after college, so I was driving an hour and a half each way to go be with her during those times. I did it because I wanted to be there for her, and because both of her parents were already deceased. She did go on to gain most, if not all of the weight back. Now, I'm ready to have wls, and she doesn't respond to texts if I mention my surgery. If we're hanging out and I mention where I am in the process, it's like dead silence. My family has told me to stop mentioning it to her, and to not tell her when I'm having surgery. It's very hurtful, because she's the godmother of my daughter, we hang out together all the time, and we vacation together every year. I think this surgery may end a close friendship that has lasted 30 years. No matter what, I'm having the surgery. Resolving my diabetes and high blood pressure will win any day, friend or no friend.
